Is Anyone Else Like This?

like ... I want things in perfect condition. Like, when I got my textbooks, they were so nice, and now there's a small bend in the corner, and I can barely stand to look at it. Or, I accidentally got a dot of grease on a page of my book, and I just get so angry every time I see it. I don't even want it anymore.

Surely this isn't normal, right? But, I really can't stand to see things like that. It doesn't bother me if I didn't once possess it in good condition. I don't mind buying used books or things like that, but if it happens under my care, I can't stand to look at it?

Is anyone else like this?

Yes same.

I've been diagnosed with OCD though. But yeah, I can't handle things getting damaged under my care. My poster got ripped when I moved because my friend's boyfriend sat something on top of it, and I am still angry about it deep inside because I know it would not have happened if I had been the one moving that bag.

THIS IS ME. I had ALL volumes of the Black Cat manga but two of them, and my aunt gave me the last two (out of 20) for Christmas. We moved, and my mom accidentally bent volume 18. It wasn't THAT bad, but everything was in perfect condition. EVERYTHING. We're still in a stand-off as to who will buy it back. Not that it strains our relationship or anything, but there's an unspoken stand off even if we aren't always thinking about it.

My best friend is like that, she got mad at me because I carelessly bent the corner of a book she lent me. I tend to fiddle with books when I'm reading them, may be another stimming thing, so I just did it thoughtlessly. I felt bad though because she was upset by it. After that I was extra careful with any books she lent me -nods-.

Oh yeah! I just remembered what happened when I went back to America over the summer. I've been living overseas and I had two boxes of stuff at my parents house and they moved so they moved my boxes. I went to get some of my SuJu albums out of the boxes to bring them back with me to Taiwan and one of my boxes was destroyed and all my albums were lying all over the floor. The lawnmower was sitting on some of them even.

I was so angry but I had to keep it to myself because my anger was probably irrational. There were only minor scratches on two of the albums but I'm completely devastated over it.

I feel ya though, man. I so feel ya over this.

(And I am somewhat tempted to buy a new copy of those 'damaged' albums because I just can't handle how much it is stressing me out.)

Yes, I absolutely hate it when I get things (even if I was super excited for it) and it gets a damaged (or has a scratch on it when I receive it)....I get this big urge to buy a completely new one...

I KNOW. I want to buy a new book, but are y'all also like this? There's always a part of me that says, "IT'S STILL NOT THAT ONE (the broken one)." Sometimes, I can't win for losing.

lol yeah. That's the reason I am resisting to buy new ones because they still won't fix the old ones and won't even really replace them. They just add.

-sobs- Now ya got me stressin over this right before I'm going to bed.

i'm absolutely like that. i just like brand new things, especially when it comes to stationery  :stare:

when i get a brand new eraser i'd start off by using just one of the 4 corners. then, eventually, i move on to the other corner adjacent to the first corner - but i don't touch the other side, i leave the other 2 corners pristine and in their perfect original edgy shape. so one time in grade 8 i lent my eraser to a deskmate to use, and THEY USED THE WRONG SIDE. i didn't flip out on them but i couldn't restrain myself from exclaiming "you used the wrong side!" with a heartbroken expression lol. they ruined my clean, perfectly cut side  :twitch:

I just looked up the symptoms. I HAVE SO MANY.

Be careful not to self-diagnose though because OCD is more than just these weird ticks. Like mine has caused me serious insomnia where I cannot sleep because my head is so filled with these things that have to happen. It's also caused issues with my job in the past and with my social life (as I have none for the time being xD).

If your obsession over things like this gets in the way though, you might want to go to a doctor about it as anxiety medicine works for some, therapy for others, and just advice on managing for the rest of us (like myself).

Haha okay I really should try to go to sleep now though. \o/

It also happened to me.

So I started using the other side, to make each side perfectly round.  :imstupid:
