Why is groping so prevalent on trains in Japan?

nooooo.

Prevalent? Really?

lol no.

it's crowded as fuck and it's not prevalent.

In Japan, street groping is called chikan (ç—´æ¼¢, ãƒã‚«ãƒ³, or ã¡ã‹ã‚“); and a man who commits such acts is also called chikan, while a woman is called chijo (痴女). Crowded trains are a favourite location for groping and a 2001 survey conducted in two Tokyo high schools revealed that more than 70% of students had been groped while travelling on them.As part of the effort to combat the problem, some railway companies designate women-only passenger cars during rush hours.

Tbh a lot of Japanese men are perverts I mean it's common for them to steal owned underwear so it's kinda like wtf.

But no I can't provide a good reason to why they do that.

On another note it's easy for them to get away with it since the victims normally don't do anything as in don't scream at them in the trains and don't report the crime which makes sense since it's very crowded and it will be very hard to give a description of the suspect. So men know they can get away with it and that is why it happens all the time.

where do you get your sources from, Wikipedia? japantoday?

it's incredibly and disgustingly crowded. women only-passenger cars are a smart way to handle awkward situations

but do you know how easy it is for a person to unintentionally touch someone's ass?

not just japan either, it's china and a lot of train reliant countries.

Police in Tokyo make between 1,500 and 1,800 arrests a year, and have recorded more than 700 cases in the first six months of this year. More than 50% of victims are women in their 20s, and about a third are teenage girls. According to one survey, nearly two-thirds of young women say they have been touched inappropriately in train or underground carriages.

They even have a ''Groping Prevention Week'

In 2007 a survey conducted by police revealed that two-thirds of female passengers in their 20s and 30s had been victimised.

The growing problem of groping on public transit has been exacerbated by the internet, as Japanese authorities have reported there are over a hundred websites in Japan designed for gropers — to swap information on the best train lines and travel times to cop a feel, and exchange stories and images of sneaky squeezes.

Maybe you shouldn't have came in here and claimed gropping is not prevalent on trains in japan

'It really pisses me off how fighting for being treated like a human being is now labelled as ‘social justice’ like it’s some optional clique you can just join rather than it being a struggle you have to fight daily.'
