They still have that strong fanbase that characterizes SM boy groups but never really gripped the public like Big Bang managed to do. Obviously Winner is new so it will take a bit more time for them to build up that credit, but look at their debut already riding so high in the charts. It's probably like everywhere else, where there are songs that are very popular but that doesn't mean that everyone follows the artist, and particularly cares about them. They just like the song.
