ayasha 929 Posted May 5, 2013 Share Posted May 5, 2013 I will share with you the results of my long research on the subject Yes Kangin was sent like normal soldier, but Heechul and Yesung are not celebrity soldiers, to be a celebrity soldier you have to be a normal soldier too. Heechul and Yesung are in public service. If I remember correctly, if you succeed to be in the first 3 grades, you are in active duty, in the fourth you are in the public service, from the 5th and more you are exempted. Everyone who is not exempted of his military service will do a basic training (regardless active duty or not, so the 4 first grade), during the basic training you have tests regarding your skills, the results of these tests will determine where/what you will be assigned to. But for the DEMA (aka to be a celebrity soldiers and only the first 3 grades aka active duty soldiers can apply), you need to apply for it before enlisting and actually to have related skill/experience too (for example, you are a pianist.), it's not that strict to be assigned in some others area, like the kitchen for example (no need to be a chef or something) but for the specific ones, yes, like the medical one, etc..... Oh yes, you don't choose either, it's decided for you according to your results, so if they liked what you cooked on the test day even through you have a master or something in engineering, you will be assigned to the kitchen. :ohdear: Sometimes, DEMA can directly recruit celebrity from these who didn't apply for it. For example, they start a new project and need more singers, so they send love call(lol) to wanted soldier (like what happened to Leeteuk, and Kangin), or many PR soldiers in DEMA will finish their military soon and they didn't recruit many people during the recruit period. Yes, to enter in Public Relation is not easy, because like I said early, you need to be skilled (knowing how to play doremi on a piano is not enough). They say it's up to you to accept or not the love call, but I think it's not that simple because even the praised ones, like Hyun bin for example, did PR related stuff too, when clearly they didn't want this and wanted to do a "normal military service" (bandwagoners don't even know it, so let's not destroy their perfect image about hyun bin military service, it's a secret, even when they use him to bash our boys -_- ) So everybody do train during the basic training weeks, you learn how to use a gun, etc. After the basic training weeks, you have a specialty training for the active duty ones, you will be assigned to according to your skills tests result or just in random sometimes. The length will depend on where/what you will be assigned, if you finish an assigned duty, you will start another one, etc. So Leeteuk will be a celebrity soldier as long as DEMA will have projects for him. With Heechul and Yesung, they can't do what Leeteuk do, normally, because they are not able to do their service fully according to their grade. But some public service related stuff have a Public Relation(DEMA) trend like radio show (but still considered like a desk job so), but Heechul is not a celebrity soldier, just one of his "desk job" is a radio show. He has been suffering from back disc problems, so he went into the training center righteously to serve as a public soldier. But because of that reason, he wasn't able to proudly enlist. He wanted to go in quietly, without saying farewell to fans, and without interviews with reporters. The reason he had to go in like this was because of some people who have outrageous thoughts like 'If you aren't going as normal soldier, you are a(n) asshole/retarded/mentally challenged', or simply because reporters and antis make it as an 'issue'. It was a result (being assigned to serve as public service) he received from a health examination at the same district office as others. What did he do so wrong, to receive all those attacking comments.. Do they feel superior by putting those attacking comments? No matter what the reason is, I feel that celebrities get cursed if they aren't going as a marine or commando. No matter if they are going as normal soldier or public soldier. People curse, saying they are serving as 'celebrity soldiers', 'part of army band', and 'public soldier'.. If you or someone around you served as public soldier or 'celebrity soldier', would you curse at them like this? Thought I'd join in on the fun on the thread here as well. Even though I'm a major TVXQ fan, SuJu are my second favorite idol group. Plus, I love both of these groups together (CassElf/DBSJ). Though, I liked SuJu since the beginning, I actually became a true ELF in early 2010 after listening to their 'Sorry Sorry' album. My biases are Donghae, Siwon and Leeteuk... though I love them all.
