Night terrors... or something like that

So this is really weird and something that has never happened to me before last night and just now, but every time I get close to falling asleep I sort of get these really vivid, horrible dreams that sort of seem like hallucinations. I feel like i'm awake during them, but like I physically can't move my body and break out of them until I can get myself together and realise it isn't real. I can't tell whether i'm asleep or not, but it's happened every time i've tried to fall asleep tonight and last night.

It's sort of scaring me a bit, so I thought i'd post this to avoid having to go through any more for a while, and to see if anyone has experienced anything like this as well.

You don't know sleep paralysis episodes until you've been me. Mine are on some next-level shit. Dream inside a dream inside a dream shit.

Sleep paralysis. It's when a ghost is sitting on top of your body, so you feel like you can't move.

lmao stop

I've had sleep paralysis, im pretty sure you're describing it. It's supposed to be caused by irregular sleeping patterns ....

perhaps you could be accidentally lucid dreaming... but... maybe gone wrong? sleep paralysis is supposed to be a one time thing... maybe talk to your doctor.....

try some chamomile tea..... calm your nerves.. or something.  try to just relax before going to be... you could be extra stressed..

I looked it up and I think Sleep Paralysis is what it is. I came back from a music festival on Monday so I guess this is somewhat of a change sleeping in my own bed after 6 days in a tent (which tbh was more comfy). I've had them like 10 times last night and 2 or 3 tonight already. Literally every time I wake up or go to sleep I get the feeling i'm being squashed and that someone is there.

I think i'm just going to stay awake for a while  :._.:

I'm a pro lucid dreamer, it doesn't cause sleep paralysis.

  • In Chinese culture, sleep paralysis is widely known as "鬼壓身/鬼压身" (pinyin: guÇ yÄ shÄ“n) or "鬼壓床/鬼压床" (pinyin: guÇ yÄ chuáng), which literally translate into "ghost pressing on body" or "ghost pressing on bed." A more modern term is "夢魘/梦魇" (pinyin: mèng yÇŽn).
  • In Vietnamese culture, sleep paralysis is called ma đè, meaning "held down by a ghost," or bóng đè, meaning "held down by a shadow."

I've never had sleep paralysis but I sorta want to experience it once, just to know how it feels like  :derp:

After the last two days, I can tell you it's probably the most terrifying thing i've ever felt in my life. It had me in tears (admittedly not hard, but still). I felt completely powerless and alone.

Lol I read so many people's experiences with sleep paralysis and it sounds scary but interesting.

My friend told me once when she had sleep paralysis she saw a demon looking shadow thing creeping out from the corner of her vision and it sat on her chest and it was going to kill her or something  :rlytearpls:

I've had night terrors and sleep paralysis too. Try and find out what's triggering it, and it could honestly be the smallest things. Or find out how to prevent it.

For myself, it's triggered when I'm exhausted and stressed from school and work + sleeping on my back or stomach. If I sleep on my side no night terrors or sleep paralysis happen. So all I have to do is recognize when I've had a really long day or few days and I sleep on my side.

You don't have to do it every single night, because you'll start understanding what triggers it and prevent it on those nights.

At least three or four of the times it's people I know who've come and sat on me/pinned me down, and the others are sort of mystery people I can't make out. I see why it's interesting, but i'd never wish it on anybody.

Try to light some incense when you go to sleep in the room, not for nothing mystical, but because it may make your body relax and feel better, also if you dare you could meditate or do some relax yoga postures with music; all is happening because you are stressed and your body reacts to it, even in your sleep

Sleep paralysis. ... it's horribleand I know cause it happens to me too. There are a few causes behind it at times..I'll try giving you advice from what I have learned. I'll tell you some things not to do cause these are what make me get the night terrors.

Don't lie flat on your back when you sleep try going on your side instead cause that gives people nightmares... idk why. Usually stress can be a cause behind it, also having a messed up sleeping schedule.. I try not to take naps because 80% of the times I do, I end up getting night terrors

Oh fuck, I just read the comments, and I experienced this too but never knew what it was. It happened 2 times, last year.

The first time I suddenly felt a weight on me, and someone, a man even though it didn't really looked human, was above me, started talking to me, things like: "I'm not going to do anything" "Stop crying" "Keep quiet" etc. I closed my eyes and a few minutes later I woke up. I was so confused.

And the second time it was a girl, she also started talking to me and suddenly it felt like someone was pushing a pillow against my face.

I was so scared  :._.:
