Article: SISTAR, SECRET, Girl's Day, Red Velvet... four member girl groups are the trend

Source: 10asia via Naver

1. [+3,334, -279] Red Velvet is still a rookie group, they're not at their prime yet;;;

2. [+2,693, -92] KARA's also four members now ã…‹ã…‹

3. [+2,148, -352] I like MAMAMOO. I'm looking forward to their next release.

4. [+1,307, -80] I hope they all work hard on improving their skills and come out with great songs ã…Žã…Ž

5. [+461, -50] SISTAR and Girl's Day are certainly at their prime trends.. but isn't SECRET on the downfall..??? Magic-Madonna-Shy Boy-Starlight Moonlight were their trends and then they've done poorly every release after.. As for Red Velvet, they haven't gotten popular yet...

6. [+379, -39] f(x) will be four members soon too

7. [+315, -46] Look at the sneaky addition of Red Velvet ã…‹

8. [+305, -46] Red Velvet really lucked out with their agency... they'd be on Dal Shabet's level otherwise.

9. [+322, -79] Out of the four, I'd say SISTAR and Girl's Day are the trends

10. [+219, -22] The common factor between SISTAR, SECRET, and Girl's Day is that they worked their way up from a smaller agency. I wonder if Red Velvet's name would even be up here had they not been under SM? ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

11. [+199, -13] I think four is the perfect number of members for girl groups. It's an even number so there's less of a chance for bullying or fights.

12. [+192, -36] Poor KARA;; can't even stand up against SECRET let alone a new rookie group

Since when did Secret become a downfall? 4 member group has been quite common since the early 2009 in K-pop (that is) Sistar, are the coming and reinging queens of K-pop  :datass:

And also they failed to mention Brown Eyed Girls.

KARA is the best tho  :hurr:  :datass:

I can't with people constantly shading SM groups just for coming from SM. Serious question. Would Winner be as popular as they are now if they were NOT from YG? I doubt it. But does that take away from the fact that they worked out to get to where they are now? Nope.

The exact same thing goes for SM idols. Being from SM doesn't negate the fact they also worked hard to achieve their dreams.

i hate to say this, but SISTAR is to blame for all of these trends with groups the last couple of years.

SISTAR hit it big with Alone, so many groups followed suit and did their alone-esque concept.

SISTAR sub unit became popular then other groups started subunit groups.

SISTAR switched to duble sidekick, every group started flocking to them for a hit.

but the flock of 4 member groups these days, i dont blame SISTAR for because they were many before them, i'd say thats a trend in in of it self these days with the industry.

Cue BEG laughing

BEG is one of my favourite girl groups, but no...

I would have agreed with BEG had they been consistent with their releases, but unfortunately they weren't. After Abracadabra & Sign, they struggled to even get a #1 weekly song, whereas 2NE1 continued to churn out hits after hits.

Haven't they always been the trend? It's been maybe the most common group member count since forever, anything from 3-5.

I've said this so many times in the past, that there are more successful 4-member girl groups than any other number. And the recent rise of Sistar and Girls' Day confirmed it.
