fill me in a little, what WAS this? wthplz.png  looks like everyone agrees it was a mess and what's with the name...

A newly-established Korean music award (since last year) that's funnily named Asia Artist Award. Despite all the nominees and performers being Kpop lol.

So I've been planning a trip to Japan around December for a good while now with some bands I want to see in mind. It just so happens B'z will be holding a concert tour around the turn of the year along with Kuwata Keisuke around the same time so trying to get a foothold for those concerts were a no-brainer for me.

I've applied for some B'z tickets a month prior and now I've just got the news that I'll be seeing them in Fukuoka on the 23rd so I'm absolutely over the moon about this! The paperwork and lottery mechanics involved was painful and arduous but it was absolutely worth it rlytearpls.png .

Now, I'm awaiting results for the Kuwata Keisuke lottery application...

On top of that since my sister is a UVERWorld fan, she's looking into purchasing some tickets for their December tour as well. So it's starting to shape up well laugh.png .

Woohoo congrats!

Are people making a big deal about someone making the ranking again? I don't trust music station's personal rankings anymore. I posted the twitter post about someone who admitted they lied b/c they were told to by the staff before and recently on gc there was a topic about "when you experienced the fakeness of tv first hand" or something like that and many people were talking about being asked to choose their favorite song/artist and if they didn't choose the song/artist they were hoping for, the staff gave them a list and told them to pick from there lol.

is there people making fuss over the list?ilikeitplz.png  it was literally songs that make people genki. at least those who were interviewed. that's it.

Yup. The actual title of the thread includes Best 100 Songs or something like that. completely missing the 'genki' part lol.

I'm into kinki kids music lately.

Yes, welcome to the marsh! Have you watched their latest concert? So much good music and good voices and good flow.

Also I've just realized there's no Kinki official thread (for me) to flail over...

Currently I found N album and I like almost every songs in it. I kept repeating the album. It is a nice shift from Arashi since they only hv two vocals and their voices are so melodious. Tsuyoshi especially. I think I like ame oto no bolero the most from the N album.

Go listen to M album! It's my personal favourite.

N is pretty good too. I wanted to say Plugin Love is my favourite but then there's one part they could really do without so the song ended up being in the middle for me lol. Thankfully, it's not that noticeable in the live performance (plus Tsuyoshi's voice in it is heavenly).

I haven't see their latest concert yet. Do you know a place where I can watch it? Their voices are very nice. clear and melodious. True, tsuyoshi's voice is heavenly! I love Dots's voice <333 Probably one of the best in Johnnys. Anyway, thanks for the recommendation ;) I will try to find the album smile.png

If you have LJ account, you can try searching for it at either domotokyoudai or domoto-family. It's open membership so there's no hassle to join. I think the links at domotokyoudai already expired but the ones at domoto-family are still alive since the comm is quite new. It's called We Are KinKi Kids Dome Tour.

So I'm discovering the joy of bilibili for watching good quality Japanese contents. The Japanese video quality is much better than dailymotion or even youtube for some videos. The only down side is the site is in Chinese and I can hardly read Chinese except number characters and my faves lol.

I went to Dublin's city centre a couple of days ago and got to see the outdoors of Tower Records. Maybe our fellow OneHallyuers will check the popularity of their fave Kpop groups and say "SLAAY!" when they get to the 1st position in preorders, like Kpop fans do it with Tower Records in Japan hurrplz.png

(And before sb wants to fight me, I mean it as a joke, I don't want to harm anybody)

God bless Chinese piracy

Yes, I have an LJ account. Thank you! <33

Enjoy! :)

I was just talking about the user copy/ pasting another users post which makes it seem like a rant about the user. The user also felt uncomfortable about it since it was done behind her back.

You are free to quote users but please dont bring it to other threads like this.

Feel free to discuss the issue here.

So what makes you different? This is obviously about me quoting that user but you didn't bother quoting me or directly telling me about it.

Not to mention it's not ranting. It directly relates to what people here on J-Turd have been discussing a few pages back. As a former mod (though not of this forum), sometimes it's worth investigating the source of it. I was also discussing my intention to start a thread about it with other users here, relating to that quote.

This reminds me of that other mod (or was it you?) who didn't bother investigating about why some of us are using this thread to express our feelings and simply warned us not to do it again, but didn't bother to shut down threads or Kpop fans who had been using expletive, abusive words.

On the other hand, expanding on the topic a bit, I'm actually thinking of starting a thread inquiring about which current popular songs become a hit organically/naturally without over-push from fan campaigns and the likes. I know that Jpop still has it. Some American songs too, not sure about Kpop. Maybe it's worth a shot.

Well when one side changes their position like they change their underwear and assumes that the other side is doing things to make their faves (which don't do well digitally) look better...

Interesting!

Hopefully I can start this tonight! Haven't had much time these past few days.

I follow the American charts pretty closely and I can honestly say organic songs there happen a lot more than you'd think. Out of the top 10 on the H100 right now

Bodak Yellow- immediate major backing from core urban fanbase, record label helped push it to radio, expanded the audience

1-800-273-8255 - took 15 weeks to get into the top 50, after VMA performance it EXPLODED
Feel It Still - by far the most organic hit of the year. Radio updates have risen naturally, charted on shazam well before rising on itunes

I'm interested in how these things work in the Japanese market though, because as far as I know Radio is japan is like pretty much irrelevant?

Thanks! This could be handy when I start a thread.

While radio in Japan is irrelevant, there are still other means like CM and dramas that have always been seen as somewhat a replacement to radio, and these aren't the type that was initially pushed by fan campaigns (especially through streaming). Iirc, Yonezu Kenshi x DAOKO song is definitely an organic hit.

On another topic, DREAMS COME TRUE have a new album out. Sometimes I forgot that DCT speak English!

Speaking of Namie, I think NHK will up their game and try in whatever way possible to get her to Kouhaku this year since it will definitely be her last ever. Maybe even bargaining for a barter act or two from her agency, or making her ootori, or many more benefits for her final year. Which agency is she now with btw?

It's not a bad album, don't get me wrong. But it's not a good one either. It was very underwhelming for me. THey were on the right track with it, but I felt like it was too rushed. So many of the tracks had potential but it fell short. i think that if they took more time to record the album, it would've been great. I don't remember the tracks either lol.

That being said, I'm just not interested in their activities anymore lol.

Do they choose their own songs, at least for the album? I know that many Johnny's don't choose songs to be included in singles or albums with the exception of Kinki Kids, Kanjani8, TOKIO and maybe V6 (all these groups are known to listen to hundreds of songs before deciding on what to include in an album), but I was under the impression that Arashi also choose their songs considering they're one of the older groups.

If that happens. I see as it as similar to how Hikki was on Mste where it was a private filming with no studio audience. An entire episode dedicated to her with her chatting with Tamori one on one.

Yeah Tamori has been hosting the show for so long and for many long-time Japanese acts, the show and Tamori can be considered as one of their biggest supporters.
