Guys. I'm so sad I didn't follow Kara's Japanese activities. They had BOPS!

I liked all of their Japanese releases! And their looks! I even argued with a SNSD once on twitter because I said I thought KARA as a whole are prettier than SNSD lol. Imagine me, a diehard Jpop fan arguing with a Kpop fan because I like one Kpop group more than the other.

Do you manage to watch the performances??

I didn't manage to catch them live due to long holiday over here but my friend managed to record the show! Still needs to get it from her though.

I actually stopped listening to kpop for a long time too, i mostly listened to some SES and BoA then eventually only followed BoA since SES broke up.

I did listen to some SPEED and MAX for girl groups but I was mostly a listener of female jpop female soloist for ages. Many years later I found KARA's japanese discography and loved them! Took me a while to realize they were a korean group and they're the ones that made me check out kpop again and other girl groups. They're still my favorite girl group of all time, I like how their japanese releases actually sound like Jpop too and not just kpop translated. Now a days I listen to kpop for the girl groups (although I'm starting to lose interest on girl groups after KARA's contracts expired and some of the other girl groups that I like also disbanded or is close enough to being disbanded) while jpop for the girl bands (bandmaid and scandal) and female soloists. I just wished jpop was easier to follow/find info on as kpop is(so many jpop videos on youtube are blocked for me), for this reason most of the jpop artists I follow are the same ones I've been following since the late 90's/early 00's lol

Sorry for rambling but yes I agree on their releases and looks QRLGYBO.png ! XD

Such cute sigs! smile.png I'm not much of a girl group listener but I do still listen to KARA from time to time.*and one of them is friends with one of the members in my fav Jpop group too so that's a plus*

I saw this thread and decided to do the math for the actual cost of songs in Korea.

For those who don't know, you buy a subscription package on music stores, which give you a month of unlimited streaming and a certain amount of songs, depending what you pay for.

I did this for Melon, which is that app I have. All final figures were rounded to the nearest tenth.

i-Stream free: unlimited streaming for one month + one free song download, which doesn't add to sales totals or affect charting on Melon.

$10.99

i-Stream 30 Plus: unlimited streaming for one month + 30 downloads

$15.39

Subtract $10.99 for cost of streaming = $4.40.

Divide by 30 songs = $0.15 cents per song.

i-Stream 50 Plus: unlimited streaming for one month + 50 downloads

$17.59

Subtract $10.99 for cost of streaming = $6.60.

Divide by 50 songs = $0.13 cents per song.

i-Stream 100 Plus: unlimited streaming for one month + 100 downloads

$29.69

Subtract $10.99 for cost of streaming = $18.70.

Divide by 100 songs = $0.19 cents per song.

I feel robbed. I've been getting the 30 Plus option for the past few months! Definitely getting 50 Plus when I need to renew.

So...cheap!

It's actually not that cheap. The base package is the same price as Spotify (and for Spotify you get 1000+ "downloads" that you can listen to offline). The other packages are quite a lot more expensive.

It's cheap if that's how much one song gets.

I don't know why some people disregard lottery tickets as not contributing much towards sales. From my experience, the more limited it is, the more people will buy so that they'll have higher chances to enter. It's called lottery for a reason!

Whoa I got distracted because of Music Day, it has been a few pages lol!

Btw I got a confession to make. I finally listened to (and watched) SEKAI NO OWARI's RAIN for the first time and, I actually like it. smile.png

EDIT: Just got back from Random section. Looks like Music Day did a real good job distracting me, didn't realize there were so many Jpop vs Kpop threads lol. But a mod sounded a warning in this thread, but not those threads?

If I continue to read bashing of kpop or kpop fans or anything like this I will be issuing warnings. Tread lightly

Oh so this happened.

See, I've just gotten back from some of the Random threads (the non-bashing threads) and have seen some strong curse words from Kpop fans, words that have never been used here. But I haven't seen you around warning them like this. So why the double standard?

Honestly, I think people on the Japanese side get off far too easy a lot of the time. The users here are generally older and they should be able to handle younger, more excitable fans without resorting to petty insults on their taste or intelligence. There's been several posts that have crossed the line lately and I'm glad one of the mods finally addressed it.

Maybe in other threads. But in this thread? I haven't seen it? And that mod specifically mentioned it happened it in this thread, but I haven't seen that mod saying anything with those fans who use actual insults and curse words. That's why we're addressing the double standard.

I checked again. They definitely didn't say that. They weren't specific at all, actually.

I made a P5 thread in the gaming section! We can discuss the game there~

That mod doesn't correct others who mentioned specifically this thread though? And they literally admitted that 'they just woke up and haven't gone through everything', so someone must have reported this particular thread for them to come here first chance they got.

Kpop culture is so wild to me, but I guess that's just the younger nature of the fans showing up. But still...

Went to Anime Expo this past weekend and it was quite the experience. I only went for one day, but got to experience so much. Wish I didn't zone out and wrote some stuff down for Arama. Oh well, maybe next year

A friend of mine went to the expo for the first time but especially for Yoshiki and FMA panel. Too bad about Yoshiki but it's understandable. Did you attend any panels?

It's weird for me to see that HSJ is rising since I've been a casual fan since like 08 and I remember when Kisumai came out and everyone thought JE had abandoned them.

Not a huge fan of their latest single though, I prefer Over the Top

The report button is literally the only way for Mods to find out about this stuff besides if they come across it themselves, which is even rarer to happen in the j-section.

If things haven't changed, the j-section severely under uses the report button if you think something is breaking the rules just report it and they'll take a look.

I've already stated my opinion about that post, but it probably only came about because some users were lurking here and reporting the posts. Overusing the report button is bad, but it's hard to see complaints about the mods not doing anything if no one uses it either.

Okay, thanks for the heads up. smile.png

OMG I just backtracked the mess. Wthell

Idk why but I can't upvote anybody now. It was ok just last night before I got negged in the Twice not dominating thread.

There's a Twice not dominating thread? smile.png

Edit: Oh that thread.

I went to one panel. I can't remember her name for the life of me, but it was an manga artist. I think one of her manga's is about 3 fairies that turn into women and something about their relationships lol. She was really nice and funny though.

I would've loved to have stuck around for another day and saw DJ Taku because the guy seems like he would be interesting to meet. Plus there were a few signatures I wouldn't mind getting. So maybe next year.

My friend had a lot of fun for all 4 days although it was her first time lol. Oh I didn't know DJ Taku attended!

Congrats to them! I listened to it and loved it.

I like how coherent the sound is despite having so many writers. Not necessarily my favourite (Juke Box still is), but it comes second at the moment.

Guess so!

Feels like this can be made a thread at the Random section, but I'll ask J-music fans here first:

Let's say that you have a Line Music subscription where you only have to pay 960 yen for unlimited streaming (if you're a student you'll only pay 480 yen) for one month, are you the type to:

a. Stream as many songs as you can

b. Stream only the songs you like as many times as you like

c. Stream only a song (or a few songs) from only the artists you like

d. Stream the hell out of that one (or a couple) of song(s) so that they will chart

e. Other type (what?)

Remember that it's unlimited streaming. As for me I'd probably take advantage of it (it's only 960 yen per month!) so I'll go with A.

Edit: Oops sorry for double post!

Like 80+ singles and 50+ albums of original material

Ishikawa Sayuri is one person I know who has released more original singles, but the majority of her album tracks are just re-recordings of her older songs, so Seiko def has more songs than her

Hmm you're right, I can't think of any others.

Anyway, I played a little game with friends today. Since our discovery a month or two ago, it has been getting more and more interesting. So if you're a fan of a Johnny's act or just simply curious, try to search Youtube using the Korean names of Johnnys talents and damn you'll be surprised at the number of treasures you'll find at those Korean fans' channels...

i did try it! to my surprise searching ì•„ë¼ì‹œ has more result than Arashi O.o

So are ì¹¸ìŸˆë‹ˆ and í‚¨í‚¤í‚¤ì¦ˆ too, especially the latter recently ever since news broke out about Tsuyoshi's health condition more than a month ago.

It's delightful tbh. :)

true! I checked the upload dates, many hv been uploaded recently with korean subtitles smile.png how nice! I'm glad they hv korean fans as well

It's the subs that get me. I don't even read Korean but there's a fuzzy feeling somewhat knowing the effort they're taking to sub Johnny's clips in Korean. :)
