Nostalgic.... :._.: It's not even a year old.

FEEL is my go-to album now if I want to improve my mood. It's fun, and that was her goal for the album. But I do think it's a good album. No one song sounds the same and yet it manages to be cohesive. I'm curious about where she'll go for her next studio album, though.

 

It came out in like one of the best summers of my life lol So listening to it makes me remember all of the good stuff that happened plus some of the bad haha

 

I was listening to it today and it still has it standouts to me. I just think the memories that I associate with the album make it a little better to me which isn't a bad thing  :lol:

Starting summer school next and got about a million and a half things to do before then. 

 

My friend's wedding that I told you all about was really nice. Though they didn't serve and warm good. Also I felt way overdressed.

 

Anyone have and recommendations for 3DS games, or any coming up soon? all I have is pokemon.

 

Wedding food is always hit or miss for me.

 

Animal crossing is fun, but not for everyone. There's Smash Bros coming out soon. I haven't played it but I hear Fire Emblem is good. Only other game I have is KH3D and that is not for everyone :lol:

And you're a mayor of a town and basically do town projects for the animal villagers, model the town how you want it and stuff like fishing, bug catching and there's like this small island of minigames so to speak. It sounds kind of stupid and pointless, but it can be fun. It's supposed to be a game you play little by little each day.

It's weird, when I see recomend me jpop or Japanese songs I think Japanese artist, but most seem to go the route of Japanese songs by Kpop artist. This is mostly a kpop forum so no real surprise

Okay i think we're on page 501 now so I can finally complain.

Anyway, I really don't like this English professor I have for an online class. She's not very clear on her instructions, so we're all just doing things hoping it's right. We have to post a critique on an essay she assigned, except she assigned 4 and she was vague whether we do them all now or throughout the term. Also, she was also vague if we have to respond to someone else (it's a discussion board). I emailed her on Thursday afternoon but she hasn't gotten back yet. It's due tomorrow so I think I'll just do it and hope for the best. [/spoiler]

 

In happier news, I'm taking Cultural Anthropology and loving it. Lots of reading though, but good reads.

Online professors are the worst sometimes. I took an online class once and the professor was just so ugh. For one of the test she said if the automatic grader incorrectly grades your test she won't change your score because you should've been more careful.

Basically that a lot of people here aren't Japanese or Korean, but are appreciative of their music, entertainment, culture, etc. So with that, you would think that people here would be more open and appreciative of other cultures or at least not hold such extreme negative views of other cultures, but in so many threads you see people making such negative comments about each others cultures, backgrounds and so on.

 

I mean prejudice, racism, etc. exist everywhere, but I'd just expect it to be less pronounced on a forum for people appreciating something foreign to them

You would think that people would be more open since they're into Korean or Japanese stuff but it's not really the case. There are a lot of Korea fans who hate Japanese things. I've also noticed a lot of Korea fans hate Western things.

 

That's true. I think we've talked about the whole takeshima/dokdo thing before. We have a lot of people who take on Korean mentality and hate Japan over this issue and others even though they are no way involved so I really shouldn't be surprised.

 

I've seen that too I think the longer they've been submerged in Kpop the worse their dislike of Western things becomes.

If I were a sociologist I would love to study music and the realms of fans and they're thinking/logic.

 

This reminds me of how a few years ago people on Kpop forums were always arguing that Kpop is better than Western Pop because it's all about sex and drugs. Back then Kpop didn't have so many sexy concepts and it was just Hyori who was known for it

 

People still say it now, but the music is really similar. Only main difference is the presence of Asians and singing in Korean. Oh and the heavy focus on groups. I've never seen an industry so focused on groups before.

 

This reminds me when I got called out on JPOPCentral for saying being Asian works against artist debuting in the US  :lol:

Well, all I'll say is this - the word "fan" is derived from the word "fanatic", so in a sense, there's really not that much surprise to be had, even though you might genuinely hope that things like what you've described wouldn't happen.  It's still a very interesting area of study though, and one that I'd like to see furthered in the years to come, since it might teach us some interesting (and disturbing) things about human nature.

True and with that connection some people really live up to that definition. I think the results of a study like that would be pretty disturbing, well at least in certain groups. I mean in some Kpop circles we've seen period blood and stalking and in Jpop there is a lot of mass buying that verges on being unhealthy sometimes. There is sports sociology and the other sorts so I'd definitely be interesting in reading up on some music sociology. The degree of "fanatics" in different countries is probably what I would be most interested in.

Honestly when it comes to political matters I wish they would just stay out of it, it's not really any of their business, none of them are historians or anything and just blindly supporting Korea because of it doesn't really do anything for the situation

 

and I haven't seen anyone call Western music trashy as of late, I remember on old forums it would get really bad sometimes "oh I'm so sick of slutty women who cant sing and stupid rappers who just talk about sex and drugs," like a lot of generalizations, now it's more like attacking one singer (eg Miley Cyrus, JB etc)

 

Yeah, like if you're an American I don't see how you can just blindly say the Islands are Korea's. It's different if you've done some background research on the matter, but still it's not really our place to say who it belongs to even if we do have an opinion on the matter.

 

Western music has become very individual based recently I think. At least I don't hear much talk about broad genres, but rather specific artist. Like instead of "do you listen to Pop or R&B" it is more so "do you listen to Beyonce, Miley Cyrus etc etc."
