it's the Korean version of Magic of Love by KOH+ (Kou Shibasaki + Fukuyama Masaharu), the ost for Galileo 2

http://aramatheydidnt.livejournal.com/4764488.html

there will be the Taiwanese version too

I made the connection but why her?

How is this odd? It was a festival where they 1. sold expensive tickets for a rather big arena and 2. sold it to be broadcasted on TV in many Asian countries. To do that they obviously needed a headlining artist that's popular enough to sell out that arena in Hong Kong and popular in all the countries. Very very few Japanese artists could match that. :unimpressed:

I saw it more as big Japanese acts don't care enough but big Korean acts will show up to the opening of an envelope.

^Pretty sure she is

Even if there were triple crowns, I could imagine it being like

AKB-SKE-AKB Subunit-NMB-Nogizaka-AKB- Kana- AKB Soloist and so on in a never ending cycle

Ughh.

Eh, I'd say that a few artists could probably break that.  Most that could just don't release often.

I doubt it. It would be just like the singles chart with like 5 artists per year being #1.

It would be fun if the j-section did a poll with for their favorite song released each week. It could be like the thing they had on H8 for Kpop where thread posts about the song, posts in the artist thread, and just a poll would be factors to choose a winner each week. Maybe we could make it even more realistic using Digital and Physical sales as equal factors in the choosing of the winner.

Lord, I don't even know how that would end up. There would be a lot of single votes.

Just a fyi, when a Japanese act goes on world tours...

Let's take for example Perfume's ongoing world tour...

In Singapore, Perfume held their concert in a venue with a max capacity of about 500 people.

In Hong Kong, Perfume held their concert in a venue with a max capacity of about 1,000 people.

That is how "big" most of the big Japanese acts actually are outside Japan.

Whereas for this event in Hong Kong, there were like 5,000 SNSD fans buying expensive tickets to see SNSD perform 2 songs at a scene with a terrible audio system.

Also, if you somehow missed it, I compiled a list of all the Korean and Japanese CD sales at G-Music in Taiwan... http://onehallyu.com/index.php?/topic/1658-kpopjpop-sales-on-g-music-taiwan-2011-2013/

And that one quite clearly showed that yes there are some Japanese acts that have some fans in Taiwan (like Namie, Ayu, SID, W-inds, Arashi, AKB),

but in general most acts ain't selling for shit and the "big" Japanese acts are considerably smaller than the "big" Korean acts.

Let's talk about Ayu's tour, Namie's tour, L'Arc En Ciel's tour...

It has more to do with the fact that Japanese acts can't be bothered while Korean acts are all for it.

I remember that thread and like I said there, I doubt your numbers. You were also using on retail outlet to judge everything.

dream..Ayu's asian tours are held in the biggest venues that each country has to offer, really..Hong Kong Coliseum, Shanghai mercedes benz arena, Taipai Arena, etc. I can't talk for Namie and other acts, but I'm pretty sure it's exactly the same too.

L'Arc En Ciel did Madison Square Garden when they did New York. He really is clueless.

ICONIQ binge.

plz comeback

Yes!

Weekly thread done~ Time to translate this Namie interview now. :ahmagah:

Yeah it is. And the PV is a lot more detailed than Suju ever gets as a group. It's sad that Suju's sub groups/projects get more effort than the entire group together....

It's more like the fact that SM acts put in more effort in Japan than Korea. There's a reason BoA, TVXQ, and SNSD's best material is all Japanese.

Not so much their recent matierial, though... :._.:  This Eunhyuk and Donghae single is the best thing I've heard from an SM act this year so far (in Japan, anyway).

Ughh, I forgot the 5. Don't remind me of Homin desecrating the TVXQ name.

Ocean wouldn't be as bad if it weren't for that awful intro :wth:  Otherwise it's just a generic summer song. Wedding Dress is much easier to listen to. Still, it's not a good start for this new era. :._.:

So did JYJ ever say what Japanese label they were going to sign to? I need new Japanese material from them.

No news on that front.

Hi J-Turd,

I was hoping to do a quick forum game this week with JPop. Would 9PM EST (6PM PST) work for you guys?

It's a short game, but I wanted to make sure you guys were given an opportunity to win games too :)

This will literally be the second time that I'm trying a JPop game (after the terribly drawn JPop album covers in the Scavenger Hunt)...

...So, please be understanding and patient with me. We will try to do more JPop events if this one is successful.

If this time doesn't work, please leave a suggestion as to when a better time would be.

I was told that later in the evening (after 8PM EST/5PM PST) would be best because many people work during the day.

I will leave a message the day of (even if it is like tomorrow). Hopefully a good number of y'all can play :)

Also keep your eyes open for this week's OneHallyu Summer Sweepstakes~ :D ;)

Quote me or PM me if necessary :) Thank you for reading!

I'm available Wednesday at that time.

Kaname just released another PV out of the blue! It's "Starship" this time. The song was done by T.Kura&michico and it's an upbeat dance song.

But it's blocked DX

EDIT: It's being released as a single on Japan's iTunes, too

https://itunes.apple.com/jp/album/sutashippu-single/id643511818?ign-mpt=uo%3D4

Ohh there's a video for this? The song was released last week I think. It's on the blogs.

Would you? I would love to see it.

I'm not entirely sold on the song yet, but I don't hate it. It's a little repetitive in parts. It makes me think of EXILE's Bow&Arrows (which was by T.Kura&michico, too).

I totally see the comparison.

Haganemix ripped Kaname's new pv:

https://vimeo.com/67106816

This was posted in the AKB48 Thread

This can't be true can it? Unless this is just singles. Factory would know

It's not true. It's just singles. Ayu is the only female (and soloist) act to crack 50 million total. Only B'z and Mr.Children are above her overall. AKB is still under 30 million total.

Is Jpopsuki tv still down?

Yes.

Guys is this a normal ratio  :twitch:

coKECeJ.png

I don't even know how this happened OTL

Also anyone like May J and want to give me recs?

Ughh, May J. She was really good when she started:

But now she's pretty lame:

Like a number of J-Urban girls, she went soft. I blame Avex. She changed after she signed to them. Her first album and mini-album are my faves. The first video pretty much covers those releases.

My fave Avex song of hers:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdfCPVX1KgY

And that ratio is really high.
