I know there probably aren't many DREAMS COME TRUE fans here, but they're releasing a tribute cover album (and a new single titled "AGAIN") on March 26th for their 25th anniversary, and some of you might be interested in the artists that are participating in the project.  The track-list is as follows:

1. Ureshii!  Tanoshii!  Daisuki!! (E-Girls)

2. Mirai Yosouzu II (Ikimonogakari)

3. Kessenhakin'yōbi (HY)

4. ROMANCE (Otsuka Ai)

5. IT'S SO DELICIOUS (Koda Kumi)

6. Suki (JUJU)

7. Osaka LOVER (Scandal)

8. Yasashii Kiss wo Shite (Nakashima Mika)

9. Nando Demo (FLOWER)

10. Thank You (BENI)

11. WINTER SONG (Ms.OOJA)

12. Egao no Yukue (Mizuki Nana)

13. LOVE LOVE LOVE (miwa)

I'm definitely interested in this. I'm not a huge fan of DREAMS COME TRUE, but I have heard some of their songs. Posted the news in the threads for the groups. Thanks for the info!

Oh I doubt they'd pick them just because. They're smarter than that and seem to be taking in multiple factors (even ones we never considered, like composition and lyrics).

The MISIA song is really nice.

No problem when it comes to the info - and in this case, you really don't need to be.  I'm sure all of the artists involved will make the tracks their own - albeit, Ikimonogakari is going to have a lot to live up to, since the cover Acid Black Cherry did of that song last year was almost as good as the original song.

Anyway - Lyrics have always been a really big part of music in Japan.  They're in no small part why Mr.Children is still so big today; their singer, Sakurai, is considered a master lyricist, and there's always a ton of posts analyzing them whenever a new song comes out.

Does this album have a title?

I hope Yuki Kajiura does the music again.

Perhaps Kalafina will do a song for this as well.

I'm really excited for this - can't wait to see what ufotable can do with that material.

Anyway, full version of miwa's new single "Faith" has popped up, for those interested.

who hacked into MoreTokyo's account.

omg angry MoreTokyo. I love it. Reminds of the one time Ryu got a little angry. So surprising but hilarious at the same time.

Never seen Ryu get a bit angry. Must've been a sight to see. I've had such a short fuse today after having to sub for children....I'm horrendous with children.

I normally keep my temper fairly well, but when things get to me ... they get to me.  Still, if I only come off as a little annoyed, I'm doing something right.  xD

I agree bout Homin stans.

I think everyone knows my stance on HoMin stans by now -_-

and yes, kpop acts being posted here is a problem.

it's annoying.

which thread did you get angry???? :O!!!

Some months back there was a discussion of some kind that irked me - I forget what about, so it wasn't really important.

I remember that clearly. lol Because I was the one who riled him up. Looking back on it, I'm sorry for that. I was being a jerk with that post.

Eh, thinking back I probably could have kept my temper a bit better as well, but we're all human.  Things happen.  'Tis all water under the bridge now.  :)

Yeah - I try to do weekly Oricon updates in the comments there, since I enjoy talking and sharing music with that blogger.  We come from very different sides of the spectrum, but we agree on some important things and end up having some interesting discussions.

Probably not too difficult to recognize me, eh?  :P

yea there's a lot of idols in that tag list which screams you.

hehe. I saw the name and avatar but reading what you were saying is what really made me think it was you.

Hey - I can get along with idol fans so long as we have some common ground (the guy might be an idol fan, but he DOES hate sales gimmicks and tries his best to subtract them by using Soundscan and such whenever possible to get a more accurate picture).  Besides, I like talking with people who are on the other side of the table, so long as we can both do so respectfully.

But yeah - I write in a certain way and talk about certain artists a lot, so if you know me well enough, it's easy to pick me out.  Even without the identical nicknames.  :3

haha i didn't mean anything like that.

Reminds me of the migration from Hallyu8 when i got a message from Lin on last.fm a month after the move asking me if i was still having problems registering when we've been talking on here the whole time. She didn't recognize me with the different name. It was funny because i thought she knew it was me the entire time.

Was just messing around xD

Yeah - I remember you mentioning that before.  Some speech patterns are easier to pick up than others though, I guess.

Superfly will be providing the theme song and the image song for the movie "Yamakin Ushijima-kun Part 2".  She previously provided the songs "The Bird Without Wings" and "No Bandage" to the first movie in the series.  The theme song for the new movie will be an epic ballad titled "Live", while the image song will be titled "Mangekyou to Chou" ("Butterfly Kaleidoscope"?), which has been described as "psychedelic".  The movie is out on May 16th of this year, but the method of delivery for these two songs has yet to be announced.

^Sounds good. Would it include just J-pop or everything?

@Wiz @Hemlock @Midna Listening to Ieiri Leo's album now. Everything before Chocolate is pretty similar in sound, but after that it really picks up! I adore "Carnival" and "Papa&Mama".

@Ryu Going to listen to Yuzu's album next! Will be interested to know your thoughts on it. (And anyone else who listens to it, too.)

I'm waiting until my copy arrives tomorrow to listen, but it's gotten rave reviews everywhere online, so I've high hopes.

Ah. I'm just getting it off iTunes Japan this time, so I'll be able to listen today. Good to hear people like it. I have high expectations since I really enjoyed the singles.

The reviews have called it both really cohesive and fitting for its theme (a nostalgic new world).  It's supposedly a mix of Yuzu's newer pop-rock style and their earlier, more folky style of music.

Masaharu Fukuyama's new album HUMAN will be out 4/2.

I was wondering when he was going to release a new album - had been about long enough for him to actually do so.  Though, I imagine there won't be that many new tracks, given how many double A-sides he's released.

It's been 5 years apparently. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being one of the top 5 sellers of the year.

Given how sales are now, neither would I.  Yeah - it's been almost 5 years since Zankyo, which sold around ... 470k total.  His Best also did 720k, so yeah ... I see him doing somewhere between 300-500k with HUMAN.  Hard to say how well he's held up over the time.

His singles still do over 100k first week so I would say he's in a good place.

Aye - his and Bump's album are the one's I'm really interested to see sales-wise, looking forward, since I honestly have no idea how RAY is going to do.  Bump can still push 100k+ total with one version singles (200k+ with 2 versions and the right tie-in) and this is their first two version album, so it'll make that monster week on the 12th even more interesting to watch.

All right - my thoughts.  "Shinsekai" ended up as a way more experimental album for Yuzu than I expected, yet at the same time, the band went further back to their roots than they have in a LONG time.  The result of this is a really multifaceted album that I feel DOES come together, despite having sounds that come from a broad variety of sources.  I'll be honest, the first time I heard "Utopia" (the 4th track), I was actually shocked, since it was so different from what they've done in the past - likewise with "Retro Future" (the 9th track).  After just one listen, I'm not sure where it ranks for me in comparison to all of their previous albums, but I know that I really do like it.

What I would say is this:  to those who are on the fence about listening to this album - just because you liked or did not like LAND, does not mean that you will like or dislike Shinsekai.  Judge the record on its own merits.  That's really the best way that I can put it.

I need to spin the album a few more times before I can figure out favorite tracks, but I really did like "Sugao no Mama de" (6th track), "Ultra Lover Soul" (8th track), "Hidamari" (11th track) and "Yonken Douro" (14th track) a lot on my first listen.
