The J-Music Lovers' International Assembly

I don't agree with the sentiment that voting for a certain side should have requirements. The awards are supposed to reflect what the forum thought was best this year and if that's what more people liked, then I don't think there's a problem.

I don't necessarily agree with some of the results, but I don't see a reason for K-Pop fans to be banned from voting for J-pop acts just because of it. That's unfair to them. If anything, the team that works on the awards this year should just start earlier and find a way to balance out the voting a bit so K-Pop fans can still vote and the smaller J-pop forum won't get drowned out.

:wth:

I've been a fan of her for a really long time now and I just think her recent music hasn't been up to the standards of her older albums and singles. For me and my personal tastes, Heaven was the last really good album she released. :._.: It's not really a popular opinion, I know.

That's interesting, cuz I've loved many of her recent releases

Endless Love tho <3

I'm just weird, I guess  Everyone has their tastes.

I agree with your general sentiment there, but to propose a kind of middle ground perhaps - is there anything wrong with the Events Team running their Awards show for the whole of the forums and a group of us endeavoring to run a smaller, more focused Awards show for this sub-forum at the same time? I'd be interested in seeing the discrepencies between the two and if indeed there actually would be any crossover. Plus, if there are people willing to run the smaller one, then it kind of does satisfy the issues which both sides have with this whole situation without forcing either to really compromise what they believe to be important.

Or maybe make it a special section within the bigger awards? Kind of like iTunes and other sites have the most popular/best seller lists, but they also have a completely separate list for albums that they thought were the best, even if they weren't exactly on top of the charts.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES I HAVE FINISHED NI NO KUNI'S MAIN STORY TODAY, NOW ONWARD WITH POST GAME COMPLETION ANNOYING ERRANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HAVE ALSO FINISHED THAT BOOK I STARTED A MONTH AGO SO YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY I FEEL ACCOMPLISHED.

also a monster came and ate my votes for the Jpop awards so meh

YAAAAAY CONGRATS :ahmagah:

Now suffer through the quests with me. There's now golden familiars to collect and a new familiar ticket available from the little familiar retreat guy. Plus a new area has opened up!

Read the Arama post. The idea for this writeup was solid. However, if I may offer some criticism...most of this article is not so much informative or insightful as it is biased opinions on these singer's music/styles and then a lot of guessing as to why they're popular or appealing. I expected more research to be put into an article with this sort of premise, especially because you two aren't fond of half of them.

If you're going to continue doing articles in this sort of style, I suggest you take the time to do more research first or add other staff into the mix that can give you a perspective you might not have. Running a draft by the rest of the staff members beforehand and letting them read through it would also help you avoid this sort of thing in the future if you would rather keep it between you two.

I'm probably one of the few people who consistently orders from Amazon.jp, so to give you a better idea of what that's like:

The prices listed on the website include Japanese sales tax, which you don't actually have to pay when purchasing an item there, so realistically you're actually getting whatever you're ordering for roughly 300-500 yen cheaper. Furthermore, they often (but don't always) have a lot of pre-order discounts running for releases, usually going from as low as 1% to as high as 30% off for new, up-coming releases (you'll often get particularly high discounts on new DVDs and Blu-rays). The deal they offer for all items is that after you pre-order, you get the lowest price the item ever goes to discount-wise (they also do have a point system like HMV, though you tend to get them more infrequently). Older releases also see price drops and flash sales as time passes from their initial date of sale. Finally, there are on occasion also Amazon.jp specific versions or bonuses, though this is less frequent than on websites like CDJapan.

Shipping&Handling for one item (CD/DVD-sized) is 1100 yen, or currently just under $8.50, with what's roughly a 150 yen (~$1.30) increase for every additional item of the same size. Their shipping has always been very quick for me - they use DHL and ship new items about half-a-day before their official release (for the purchase of multiple older items, it may take a little more time to put together the order), with items usually arriving between 1.5-3 days from the time of shipping. For example, if I've ordered a new CD and the order ships on Monday night in the US, I'll often have it by Wednesday evening, not counting the one or two times my packages have been delayed due to the weather. Everything has always arrived in pristine, packaged condition - even the box itself.

Thanks for the info! I'll edit the Amazon section.

Do you know anyone that's had problems with Yesasia? Specifically packages arriving in poor condition. I've never had problems with them, but I've heard stories of packages arriving torn or boxes being crushed in parts. It may also just be the fault of the local mail carrier, though. I'm so happy that they seemed to have stayed true to what Majora's Mask is, since that's a game where the atmosphere and tone are so very crucial to it.

I heard they added new save points that let you save at any time to make the game less of a challenge for newbies, though. I can understand why they did it, but I wish they'd made that optional. The Bomber's Notebook is supposed to be more useful now, too.

WHAT! IT'S COMING OUT NEXT MONTH?!

I'm surprised, too. I thought they had said Spring 2015 :O

AHHHHHH THE GAME THAT IVE BEEN WANTING TO PlAY IS HERRRREEE

I can't wait to see you suffer through play with the three day mechanic >:D It's fun, I promise. And all the side quests! They're the best ones out of any Zelda game. Kafei and Anju <3

The year-end Billboard Japan charts: http://www.billboard-japan.com/special/detail/1109

They're incorporating Digital/Physical, Airplay, search, and Tweets. Makes for some interesting results. I'd also recommend reading through some of the chart commentaries from various industry people if you can.

isn't las vegas usually a popular place for tourists / people who don't live here

Is it? Her Japanese fanbase does seem pretty excited about the idea of Vegas. Hawaii, LA, and New York seem the most popular picks for J-Pop concerts, though, so I was a bit surprised at the choice. Edited by Mandilinn

VEGAS NOT HAPPENING

:(

BUT

I may do Cali with yourfishnets ;)

ahem

MYTH OPPA AND HEMLOCK OPPA WE SHULD MEET UP

yes it is and it's cheap!!

Aww, I guess Cali is fun too. You'll be about 10 hours away from where I live if you visit San Francisco! (That's by car. By plane it's only an hour and a half).

Would be cool if Namie met with Britney and/or Mariah in Vegas.

I don't think Namie would want to be around Mariah again. She was really rude the last time they met (in 2005-ish? On a TV show).  :meow:

I'm not that surprised. It will probably be sold in Japan as a package vacation with the concert as the focal point. I've seen this with other foreign acts before. But is there a direct flight from Tokyo to Vegas because I know the other cities have them?

I looked up Japan Airlines and there is at least one stop involved for every single Tokyo to Vegas flight. I don't know about other airlines. That doesn't seem too terrible, though.

Late, but Happy Birthday, DocumentaLy!

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2fobe6_random-jtv-put-em-out-live-performance_music?from_related=related.page.int.gravity-only.51b6327d12a0f771efb3e6262cd935c7142233641

Random J's videos are such a mess :imstupid:

I tried so hard not to laugh at this  His videos are messy, but generally they're harmless. I used to see Ayu fans shade Namie years ago when Ayu was on top, so I don't see the big deal in a few Namie fans doing it now if they want to.

Those last lines though :imstupid:

My personal favorite

I don't get why people were so mad at his blog and wanted it shut down. He can be hilarious some times. Now I need to go find his Perfume and Koda video

Perfume and Koda? I don't think I've seen that one. Edited by Mandilinn

why are e-girls not considered idols?

This was probably a better question to ask in the E-girls thread than the general music topic.

The main reason is both they and their company have said time and time again that they're not. But they don't follow idol rules either. They aren't banned from relationships and they aren't required to act a certain way to keep fans happy. They're pretty much allowed to do whatever (within reason, of course). Their image isn't decided on by the company, but rather decided on as a group, with the girls choreographing, writing, and at times even directing the photography/art for their releases.

Idol rules don't apply to the fandom either. They're very strict. Fans aren't allowed to follow them, take fancams or pictures, or wait for them places. Concert etiquette is the same as an artist rather than an idol. No lightsticks or banners, no chanting or yelling a member's name is allowed unless requested by them member themselves, no fancams/cameras, etc. Edited by Mandilinn

There are reasons for and against calling them idols. Quite frankly, they follow all the traditional things that mark an idol, but a lot of their fans don't want to call them idols, so there's that.

It's not that fans are against calling them idols, but the group themselves have gone out of their way each time to explain that they're not and people seem to ignore that. If E-girls and LDH labeled themselves as idols, then no one would even bring it up. (though if you ask me, non-fans spend way more time talking about it than actual fans do).

Can't think of one thing that makes them idol-like at all unless you think size has something to do with it.

No idea what happened but the gist of it is rigged games and PMs and event mods and biasness?

no idea

though this doesnt affect us...unless you guys play forum games?

Nope!

Most of it got kinda blown out of proportion, I think. It was mostly about accusations of being biased when hiring (which could be true of a few staff I suppose, but I get the feeling in the end they're picked as fairly as possible), and a few leaked screenshots from a private chat between some events staff members. Not really sure what goes on in games since I don't play, so I can't comment on how fair they are or aren't.

Leaking screenshots of a private chat is a pretty low thing to do, even if you don't agree with the way things are being run. :._.:
