Who's the new assistant to the doctor that comes after matt smith? and is there any new weeping angel episode after the manhatten one?

Clara is still with the new Doctor in the upcoming season. The Weeping Angels have only made one other brief appearance, and that was in Matt's final episode, "The Time of the Doctor".

which is your favourite Doctor, I was thinking of just starting with the first episode of the 2005 series, but that is probably my OCD talking since I'd feel like I'm missing something by not watching it from there

My favorite?
That would be the 8th Doctor.

doctor-who-photos-eighth-doctor-01.jpg

The Eighth Doctor has the most human-like qualities out of all the other Doctors. He's sweet, charming, friendly, excitable, and a little naive at times. He likes to give people vague hints about their future, and he's prone to bouts of amnesia.
Thinking about it, I suppose you should start with the current series just because it introduces everything nicely. But I don't know, something just clicks when you find a Doctor you really, really like. @___@
I'm a rather big fan of Patrick Troughton (the 2nd doctor), since while he was warm and welcoming at times, there was something uncannily alien about the Doctor he played. Plus, "The Enemy of the World" is an utterly brilliant serial and still one of my favorites to this day.
Somehow it makes complete sense that he's one of your favorites. He's certainly one of the more memorable doctors in terms of appearance and mannerisms. The Second Doctor's run features one of my favorite male companions in the entire show (Jamie McCrimmon). If there's one criticism I have for the revived series (actually I have several, but that's a whole other conversation), it's that there are too many young female companions from modern-day Earth and not enough well-written male companions or at least female ones from a different time period. The few that have been in the new series were just used for comic relief. :/

soooo after debating whether to start on the classic Dr. Who seasons on Netflix or the 2005 one, I went went with the 2005 one, which brought me back memories of:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9LjOQVBFmA

my jams back in the day

Ah, I remember people talking about her, but I never listened to her myself.

So you started with Nine? Enjoy him. He's slightly darker than the other new series doctors.

tumblr_inline_mtr4zzGXgG1qgp297.gif

....Most of the time.

I think all of the new series is on Netflix, minus Matt Smith's last episode, so if you like it, you won't have any problems speeding through it.

EDIT: The company that makes all the Doctor Who audio stories (Big Finish) is having an anniversary sale, but it's different audios every day. Some audios are only a dollar apiece, some are $5, and a few are free! Even though you're starting with the new series, I'd recommend grabbing a few of these now for later when you want to go through the classic doctors.
Today there's a bunch of 8th Doctor stories up for sale.

Free

Living Legend (8th Doctor. Hilarious short story about aliens contracting a deadly virus known as World Cup Fever!)
No Place Like Home (5th Doctor)
The Ratings War (6th Doctor)

$1

Episode 1 (Season 1) Storm Warning
Episode 2 (Season 1) The Sword of Orion
Episode 3 (Season 1) The Stones of Venice
Episode 4 (Season 1) Minuet in Hell

$5

Episode 4 (Season 3) Time Works
Episode 6 (Season 3) Memory Lane

I was thinking that I might like this, then the preview for "Phone Call" came up and now I'm racing to download this mini.

This sounds really good  :ahmagah:  I'll get it off of iTunes Japan sometime soon. (If it's even on there. I need to buy another card first anyway.)

Since there's more than just J-Pop acts on Ongaku no Hi tonight and more people might be interested, I went ahead and made a thread for it: http://onehallyu.com/index.php?/topic/89712-j-pop-ongaku-no-hi-live-stream-discussion-thread/

holy shit that's low, I guess they can't ship them off to Japan now

They'll still try. They've got an SM Town concert in Japan coming up soon, too. I wonder if this scandal will have any effect on that.

SM's excuse sucks ass too...it was "random"

SM is stupid, but they're not that stupid. If they were really sorry and it was an accident, there would be a very long and sincere apology out right now. But all they said was "lol oops" and offered to change it.  :unimpressed:

It's already on J-CD. Unless you mean buying the mini in order to support them. In the case, ignore this post.

Yeah, I'm going to buy it. They're new and I really like their sound, so that's enough reason for me to go ahead and purchase it. Edited by Mandilinn

UGH people sure know how to ruin a birthday/ birthday weekend. Like it's my birthday why would you ask me for money and a bunch of other stuff when I just have a little over enough to take care of myself.

Aww, don't let those people ruin your day. :( And Happy Birthday!

the funny thing is how K-pop fan try to justifice that, explain the images of the video and the name members group but seein that SM said that there were ramdom images... I LOL'D and the song sucks,it's too childish for my tastes .-.

I suppose I shouldn't be shocked that people are trying to justify it, but I am. Disappointed, too. :/

I don't hate the song, but the group doesn't seem any different than every other K-pop group.

EDIT: Ugh....EXO's Japanese debut date has been confirmed as 1/1/2015. Prepare for EXO threads in this section :/

I would like to' see them debut with a soloist sometime, there is tono much perfomer group in SM and YG :/

They did finally debut J-min, but they ignored her right after that. :/

Thank you all! :)

I can't believe its finally raining. I don't remeber the last time I've seen rain. It makes me so lazy and want to listen to music from the 90's for some reason.

It was raining a bunch last week up here, but now it's back to being really hot and humid. The rain doesn't seem to want to stick around for very long.

I kinda feel the same as you though. Summer rainstorms make me really nostalgic for some reason. I don't know what it is exactly. Edited by Mandilinn

SM apparently isn't the only one that has slave contracts: http://onehallyu.com/index.php?/topic/90896-shukan-bunshun-reveals-namie-amuro-is-trying-to-break-away-from-her-22-year-slave-contract

Interesting covers.

Hikaru Utada as a video game character. How and why so bad?

More celebrities in the link.

I don't think it looks that bad. Some of those other ones, though....

Is calling it a slave contract really the right word. I mean, Japan is the country that most commonly uses lifetime employment

Those were the exact words used in the original article. 奴隷契約 = dorei keiyaku (slave contract). I just translated it into English. Namie's been with them forever and she's the one that said it, so we have to take her word for it. Edited by Mandilinn

I don't have a problem with your translation.  I just think it's funny the article worded it that way

Hmm, well there's been speculation that they're blowing what she said out of proportion because it seems like an odd thing to say when she's had quite a bit of freedom. However more reliable Shukan Bunshun is, it's still a tabloid at the end of the day and they need a way to get people's attention.

Mmmm. Tossing around the idea of applying to write at Arama, considering that I end up posting articles around here fairly recently anyway and it wouldn't be that hard to edit them and make them presentable enough to be posted (and considering they don't require that much time, it wouldn't be that bad). Not sure if I will, but we shall see.

If you think you can be objective and would enjoy writing articles, then I say go for it. :)

I just realized that there's no J-pop Artist of the Week for this week. :._.:

Ah......:._.: I'd completely forgotten about it. (It's just been one of those weeks.) I'll make sure to work on next week's thread this weekend so I have it ready to go on Tuesday. It's a little late to start one now...

Sandaime and Yuzu will be singing Sandaime's "Hanabi" and Yuzu's "Natsuiro" together at FNS!! :ahmagah: :ahmagah: :ahmagah: The info came from the EXILExLDH newsfeed on Twitter.

I'm so happy :rlytearpls: Yuzu will sound good on a ballad like Hanabi.

Is anyone watching the FNS show this morning? I would but nobody I really want to see is on plus it starts really early in the morning.

No, I'll just wait until people upload it.

I don't think we've had a special week since H8, and I was thinking maybe doing one about solo projects like Keita's, Kaname's, illion's, and so on (while excluding people who went full solo like Yamapi and Jin). Thoughts?

That's not a bad idea. I could do it next month. It is about time for another special.

EDIT: Yuzu x Sandaime performances!

The Natsuiro performance was so fun! The guys have good chemistry together. :ahmagah:

LOOOL

ayu has interacted with utada and kuu, but not namie right?

Watch at about 20 seconds in. They weren't really chatting, but they were both giggling over something. (Cute  :chu: )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDMfzkbTdiY

They've never really been rude towards each other like Kuu x Ayu. Rather, the two of them seem to like and respect one another (I wish their fanbases would do the same, but eh. You can't have everything, I suppose.)

Bought Ni no Kuni and have been playing it for a few days now. The first several hours of the game were a little dull due to the fact that they were still rolling out mechanics and the story wasn't going anywhere yet, but now that I'm farther in and have more of the battle system available to me, I really love it. It's gone in some unexpected directions as far as locations go and the layers to the familiars and item crafting are great. Plus the story has picked up and the soundtrack is amazing :ahmagah:

I've heard good things from people people who have seen the episode on roadshow, and Capaldi's own statements have me optimistic on the whole.  I'm still worried that Moffat's writing might not be up to the task though, so we'll see.

Moffat is capable of putting out good work, but I think he's at his best when he isn't constantly writing for the series. It's probably why I didn't enjoy Matt's run as much, even though his take on the Doctor isn't bad. This season has several different writers, so I'm hopeful that the stories will be better this time around.

i'm thinking about it. I stopped watching about halfway through Tennant's first season but the supposedly darker tone interests me. Not sure if i can just jump in on ep 1 or if i have to watch that special before this tho.

He was only in the episode for 1 minute, so all you'd need to watch is this and you're all caught up:

We can only hope. I am wondering what past Doctor Capaldi will most resemble though - if we're honest, I'm kind of hoping for something in the vein of Pertwee's Doctor, with maybe a bit of Hartnell's edge, but we'll see.

I remember Mark Gatiss saying in an interview that Peter was inspired by the qualities of the first few doctors.

Capaldi's Doctor is "sort of Tom Baker, Jon Pertwee and even Christopher Eccleston style...it’s someone who’s not immediately going to be your best friend and can be quite abrupt and rude."

He sure looks like the second doctor here.
