Yeah. It's hard to read through. Not even just the political stuff. Sometimes the Netizenbuzz or K-Pop discussion threads get really bad, too. This section may disagree on a lot of things, but I think we're pretty laid back for the most part.

Yeah I notice people in the kpop section go pretty hard on the most random and pettiest stuff. I know the j section goes at it from time to time but its never like that haha

Are you talking about one of the blackface threads? Like I said in one of them earlier, a lot of people here are ignorant of anything besides KPop.

Partially, but it's other stuff I've seen as well.

Japanese people are dirty and owe Koreans an apology and Koreans are justified in their hate for Japanese,

Black people basically don't experience racism anymore and are just sensitive,

Your just jealous that whatever star is sleeping with women and your not but then omg how could you  say that about me how sexist

Oh what they said wasn't sexist you're just being a hater/ you would like it if they said it to you

The list goes on and  on

People are pretty ignorant outside of kpop, but it's funny when they try to respond in their better than you attitude. I'm not gonna lie though I like watching people crash and burn especially with the Korea vs. Japan thing. Gotta get ready for all that since it's almost the time for end of the year shows again.

I find it funny that people saying Takeshima is Korea's just because the Koreans say so and that it's about national pride and that's it. But it's really about the fishing grounds and the possible natural gas reserve there. It's not Korea's and Korea knows it. If they really thought it was theirs, they would have no problem going to the International Court of Justice like Japan has been saying for decades. But most of the KPop fans have no clue about any of these things.

I mean these are also people who think if you smoke weed once you'll go crazy and become some crazy homeless person robbing people in the streets.

I never really got how people even get involved with the debate when it doesn't even effect them and they know nothing about it.

And just wow.

Really?   :twitch:

You'd be pretty surprised. The whole anti japanese attitude mainly comes from the Takeshima issue that DocumentaLy mentioned. I can't remember where exactly but a few weeks ago there were some post claiming that the decline in kpop in Japan was due to Japanese hating koreans over the islands and forbidding them to appear on tv. But some kpop acts are doing better than a lot of Japanese acts. Blackface threads will kinda show the other stuff mentioned. I think that post being negative shows people don't like you talking against it

But yeah lets talk about music haha  . I always feel so envious when people get excited about getting to seeing their favorite acts on year end shows since no acts I really like go on. I hope DAI streams their countdown this year.

A lot of KPop fans think that Japanese people really hate Koreans. They're like personally offended by it as if they're Korean. But a lot of them are Koreaboos.

I've noticed that here and other places as well it's like they adopt their views and hate people for them. It's really weird
I can't with the comments some of these Kpop fans make.  I am just remembering how many of them were saying "my fav Kpop groups aren't doing well because they aren't getting promos in JPN" (like music station appearances) when in fact they are given promos.  How many Jpop artists don't get the promotions that some of these Kpop groups get? We don't get upset at them.

It is funny because they aren't even Korean to begin with. I talk about this issue with my Korean friend. He was surprise I knew great detail about Japan and Korea conflict. He doesn't hate the Japanese, but he wish Japan would stop sugar coating their history books and denying their actions.

Its disgusting how some of the fans know so little about Korea and think they know a lot about Korea when they just listen to their current popular music.
Well said! +1

I don't think any of the JPop fans deny or sugarcoat what Japan did. But the KPop fans have this strange victim mentality. I find this even funnier when they tell black people to get over the blackface thing when racism is still alive. It's not as if the Japanese still have comfort women or are destroying Korean culture.

Basically just gave an example of my original point.

And this video would lose half of its awkwardness if it didn't look like he was shoving rubber bouncing balls into people's mouths.

look on the bright side! at least you didn't panic on finance midterm about the lack of time and end up guessing the last 2 pages =_=

I did the same thing last week on one of my midterms

Southeast Asians in general seemed to be disregarded and discriminated against. I've heard people being told they "are not real asians" before because they are from that region.

really?

this is the first time ive heard this, tho idk. Im Vietnamese and we have a bad rep apparently :\ (viet girls at least)

tho, i honestly dont look vietnamese at all XD

Yeah I've heard it a couple of times. I don't think it is that widespread, but DocumentaLy and SeeYaWithYou did report similar things.  I remeber one of my friends who was Filipino telling me about how people told her not to say she was asian and she could only say she was Pacific Islander

Some people don't care. I think it just has to do with mentality and how some feel superior to others even if they are from the same region.

oh some1 already posted it

what is so messy about him, he is cute and I would go to Japan for a concert....idc what any1 says i'm still planning to go to see my messiah Kuu in person everything else is secondary

Apparently he's a member at jpopcentral

People plan trips around concerts all the time. When DAI first disbanded and were having their final concert so many members at daiforum all started planning trips just because of that concert. When I go to Japan next summer I know I want to see a show

I will say that the reaction to no Koreans at Japanese year end shows is a lot more subdue this year.

That's probably because everyone has seemed to accept the "fact" that all k-pop has been banned from Japanese television.

HE'S GIVEN NAMIE A HARD TIME?!!? He praises Namie upon the high heavens, Uncontrolled, one of Namie's worst albums, got a MUCH MUCH better review than Love songs, one of Ayu's best albums.

I love random J-Pop, but homeboy is biased as fuck xD especially to poor old Robot-face he has no love and BoA...poor BoA...he has been so mean to her...

He usually shades Namie on her dancing and her face calling her lazy and miserable among other things lol I think he does have a pretty good balance because he's a Ckay fan but basically called her new song shit so yeah but there is always gonna be some bias here and there

ugh try working on that day, its a pain.  Honestly, it's just there to stop people from going over the border to shop, but the prices are still higher.  And it's true, boxing day is crap as well.

Some earphones at my job were on "sale" for $20 and had a tag that said Original price $30 but they are usually around $15 but I guess what people don't know helps the company

I've seen that, plus, I remember one boxing day I went out with my friends, and the store had red sticker sale tags over the original prices of things, out of curiosity I peeled one off, and saw the sale price only one penny off the original.  I hope people wake up to stuff like this.

The retail industry is just ridiculous so I cant say I'm surprised. The people who make all these decisions make all the money while the workers and people who buy the crap get the bad end of the deal. I just hope I'm only have to work in retail until I graduate

I was on Tumblr and someone I follow posted the link to the article.

I saw someone from jpopcentral post about it and the only info I saw was from some anime website and the rest was in chinese (which I can't read) but if it were in japanese I'd probably have translated it myself.

I need to stop being so lazy these days when it comes to translating I used to translate lyrics and interviews all the time

dmn needs to be banned from the oricon thread....this shit is getting out of hand. It is annoying with all the unnecessary notifications

I never had a conversation with him on here, but his better than thou and consistency of calling people idiots, dumb, and stupid for not agreeing with him or saying he's wrong is very off-putting. I never understood why some people on here go for the personal. It makes no sense.

I used to respond to him, but all the Ad Hominem stuff ... yeah, I've no interest getting involved with that.  Respect in both conversations and debates ... matters to me, and I'm not going to give what I don't get.

I saw a few days ago when he made a big deal about the difference in versions and somehow you were comparing them to idols when you never did. I thought you handled it pretty well.

I never either had a convo with him and yes the language he uses is not welcoming to actually have a convo with him...oh well he loves them snsd sales he just needs to chill a bit and I don't appreciate him referring to ppl over on the j-section as j-stans

I saw the thread a few days ago and looked today and yeah. I've seen him make relevant points before, but his bias and demeanor is just so ugh. And the whole j-stan thing seems to come from the idea that everyone in the j-section hates everything kpop (not entirely sure if that what he means, but that's how it comes off), but people in the J-assembly thread post about kpop from time to time and everyone else doesn't really care about it.

Wagamama / Miss. Miss Me

I asked the mods if he could be banned and they said no. He then went on a rant about how I attack him. Yes, I call him delusional because he is. That's not the same as him saying that I'm so dumb that he's astonished that I can turn on a computer and register an account here.

If I could count the times I've been called retarded, stupid, dumb, idiot, troll, fucking asshole, and whatnot by him...

I swear he's like 7 years old and someone took away his toy. I don't mean to be mean but I think his issues might be linked to his personality type. I apparently have the personality type that is the exact opposite of his, hence why we clash so much.

The thing I don't like about him is is that he insults all the Japanese music fans, trolls the Japanese section, he makes up lies about the industry to make SNSD look better, and he misleads the KPop fans. When I tell them the truth, he pops up and tells me I'm wrong and a liar. Don't tell me KPop acts are banned from Japanese music shows when I make multiple music show threads a week. He can get over on the KPop fans because they're not into the scene but he can't get over on me.

I've seen your exchanges a couple of times and that is his immediate go to. Like not even when you are addressing him, he'll pop up and call you an idiot. It definitely does come off pretty childish. If he's a pioneer of the whole kpop is banned on tv he needs to stop. If I'm not mistaken in one of the music threads you posted BEA2T or however you spell their name was on one of the programs so that's pure nonsense.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading the detailed, passionate, and thoughtful responses from DocumentaLy, Ryusenkai, Hemlock, Pokesexual, Timmeon, and xprixgr in the Japanese Pop (2013): Year In Review thread created by Owatari. It's refreshing and comforting to see such passion and thought being put into discussing the strongest acts and releases to come out of Japan over the past year. Would like to hear responses from Mandilinn, Midna, Amaya, SeeYaWithYou, Tsumiki, and other members of the Japanese side of the forum. It's such a phenomenal thread to read through!

I read a few of the responses and it's definitely nice to read what people have to say about the given year, see what they have in common dislike, like, etc. I should probably fix up my response since it was really brief and I left a few things out.

I don't know why, but this used to be one of the funniest videos to me. I think it's the mika nakashima impression.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruof-_zmnK8

And how is it that these people on these Chinese websites always have the inside scoop on future JPOP releases? They were right about Namie and Kumi, if I'm not mistaken. Kudos to them

OMG I haven't seen this video in years!

And I don't know how the Chinese get it. Hacking?

I freaking love this video haha

And I wouldn't be surprised if hacking was involved since it does happen all the time out here.

well china is close to japan so it would be more likely for someone who is chinese to live in japan than an english speaker.

Obviously this one guy also probably knows japanese and knows someone who has all the inside scoop(or even has direct connections).  So they break the news to the chinese websites.

It's not really a surprise.  the chinese fandom of jpop in general is wayyyyyy bigger than the westerners.

I don't know what the west has to do with this, but okay.

I guess that's possible, but it just seems unlikely and really weird how these leaks and info almost always come through chinese sites rather than japanese ones. Like, if this person is an insider and his chinese friend gets a hold of the info why don't any of his Japanese friends get the info. I mean your in Japan so obviously there's Japanese people there. Plus the info isn't always from the same person, but whateves, they get it right regardless and thats impressive.

Hacking wouldn't be surprising. I remember a British friend telling me that his friend who worked for Universal in the UK looked into the Japanese division's computers even though he wasn't supposed to and saw a bunch of release dates for various Japanese acts. The dates are in the computer, it's just a matter of getting to them. If the Chinese can hack the websites of foreign governments, record labels are nothing.

Yeah that wouldn't be too hard to do if the info is that easily accessible. It's funny that you mentioned the UK beacuse I was just thinking about when Syco Records got hacked and Leona Lewis songs were leaked along and then it turned out that it happened to their other artist before.

Come watch my awful taste in J-idols and moderate taste in everything else. :ahmagah:

Wait. You didn't like "Samson" and "The Apple" or that ice cream truck song?

I liked "Children" (had to put that in quotes, otherwise it just looked creepy), but I didn't like Samson and The Apple was so so at first, but it grew on me and now I really love the beat. The latter two were such a departure for what she was originally doing in TLTL and going for in L&P, but she actualy pulled of the new sound and there are some definite standout tracks on the album.

I was probably just bitter because I was pretty hyped about L&P

Pedo, pedo!

Whaaat. "Samson" is amazing. I'm actually really glad L&P was shelved if the songs were going to be as juvenile as "Children". I did like TLTL, though. She grew so well as a music artist with S&D. :ahmagah:

Hahaha that was straight pedophile-ish

Samson has grown on me too actually, I relistened to the album yesterday haha. I think there were only a few songs I was interested in from the previews, like 10 ft tall and climbing high. She really loved liked fire and went in that direction and definitely grew.

Been on a Koda Kumi Kick the past couple days. What would you guys say her most scandalous song/video are?

Probably Juicy.

Thelma better budget those Soba ni Iru ne sales

I feel like I'm in a parallel universe right now. I'm being told that internationally KPop was more popular than JPop last decade.

Kpop was never that popular 'till about late 2008 early 2009. 2009/2010 I would say it overtook jpop

It's funny cause I decided to read other part of the forum for the heck of it the other day and there has been like 3 or more threads about that in the last week. Some people either don't know what it is, don't accept the apologies or don't know any were made and argue over the compensation. It's all so weird. I think it was documentaly that said a lot of them take the victim role for others. Same thing happens a lot with the whole Takeshima disputes. I have no personal say on the matters, but I do find what they have to say interesting/ entertaining.

I feel like I've missed so much on this forum from not coming on in awhile.

It works.

Sa_i_ta <3

You haven't, trust.

But yeah, I really do think it's a big victim mentality. Big, bad Japan v. poor, brave Korea. Japan raped Korean women during the war. Japan won't apologize to Korea the way we want them to. Japan won't let Korea have its islands. Japan won't let KPop on Japanese tv. People say these aren't connected but they are. They're all parts of the narrative of Japan bullying Korea. And I'm lost at people saying that KPop hasn't influenced their thoughts on this because that's what the government's aim for KPop was supposed to result in. Using entertainment as a mean of soft power to influence people abroad.

And I also think that a lot of people don't get the fact that a lot of fucked up shit happens in war and that what Japan did is nothing special by any means. It was horrible yeah, but that's war...

The weirdest thing is how they attack you if you mention the apologies or the compensation. Like I don't think any of us or modern day Japanese are denying that the events happened and people here all say that the events were bad there is no denying that. Some people just seem to want to drag it on. It's definitely important to remeber the event's, but at the same time it is also important to look forward. I definitely do think that people have basic knowledge of the rapes and what not and form their own opinions on that, but I do think being fans of kpop and as a result other aspects of Korea and korean culture it has pushed them into defending them more than they otherwise would. I really can't see people posting stuff about this on their facebooks and having legitimate conversations about this. The ones on this forum take on a real mocky tone.

But anyways does anyone else tend to listen to the lot of the same music? Like I downloaded a few things from jpopsuki awhile ago and still haven't listened to it. I just keep going back to my old stuff.
