EXILE better start pushing to represent the Olympics, because it looks like Johnny wants his groups to represent the Olympics and Japan and he is seriously trying to get it.

http://aramatheydidnt.livejournal.com/5041193.html

I have nothing against Arashi (I swear!), but if it's all the same, I'd rather have EXILE and LDH representing Japan. :omgwtf:

The Olympics are so far away, but still those groups are a no. I know arashi is big but there's no telling where they will be in 7 years (probably follow smaps projectory since they'll be like their age by then). Ayu and Namie will both be over 40, but probably will still look and be the same as they hardly age (maybe one more than the other) and utada and kuu will both be 37. Sorry it's just weird to think of all the ages since they'll all have been in the industry for 20-28 years. Plus with 7 years there is the possibility that some new hot thing can come around and be the it thing in 2020.

But still I would rather see LDH or one  of the 4 perform in the olympics since I know all the other acts I listen to don't stand a chance. I can't imagine any of the 'queens' wanting to do it though.

@Madilinn I was thinking B'z and SAS would be the top choices as they've been around the longest and are seen as legends. You could probably add Mr. Children to that mix. LDH being present is good maybe with a mix of different artist. There's more possibilities with the closing ceremonies than the opening for that. I could see Namie doing something like that, it just seems like her. It would be a great opportunity to get those 4 together though, but as you said we'll have to see.

The idea of people talking about who will perform at The Olympics in 7 years is weird to me. There's so much that could happen between now and then. The scene will probably completely change between now and then. Let's look back 7 years ago to now and see how much has changed. One of my friends did bring up a good idea as to who they will probably get to sing a theme song. Probably the best vocalist in Japan: MISIA. This isn't an event just for Japan, it's for the world.

Agreed. When I first saw people talking about it elsewhere the time gap is the first thing that came to mind. The J-music scene we know now will not be the same in 7 years. It's gone from idols and rock bands in the 80's to mid or so 90's then soloist and r&b were strong for a while with some pop acts here and there and now idols are having their time. Even some of the artist most of us listen to now such as Utada and Namie have had changes in their styles in shorter than 7 years.

hiiii

i really do wonder who will sing at the Olympics.

(tho, im curious to know what ill be doing in 7 yrs LOL)

I'm interested as to what the scene will be like and who will be preforming when the time does come, but when they announced Tokyo for 2020 I was like dang I'll be in my late 20's I more interested in what I'll be doing than who performing haha

Damn, that's a hardcore wota right there. I guess they really love their nipples.

"So man-whores like Yamashita and Akanishi really have dark ones, huh"

Didn't know there was a relationship between nipple color and being a whore lol

I guess it's nice that Johnny is trying to push for the olympics to keep himself busy since he'll probably be dead by then.

 Watching him perform it's not all that surprising that he is. Some people just like to live in their fantasy I guess. Think if a star is gay it takes a way from them and they just like to stay in denial

I saw this performance and was like Yep.

Yep, it'll probably leak tomorrow and if not the 1st at the latest.

Do As Infinity will be releasing a best album on January 1st with 2 new songs and a DVD from their previous tour. Hopefully there are some new rendition of the songs on there since some of the songs are like from 2000.

On the whole Taku arama thing it was pretty funny reading the comments on arama. You could just see the anger of the idol fans when their idols were getting ripped into by an actual person in the J-music industry. It was pretty annoying though when people kept calling him pressed because of his sales. That's like one of the weakest arguments ever.

All they can talk about is sales. They can't talk about anything from a musical standpoint because they have no ground to.

It's quite pathetic. I rather have follow an artist with crappy sales and good music than the high or inflated sales with crappy music. When people list their disdain for certain groups and their music, the response is always along the lines of being jealous of their sales, but ignore or try to demean what their sales are attached to. When people begin to swear by sales as being some sort of holy sign it's funny because there are so many artist that may not have these monstrous sales, but have had a lasting impact on the music market that present groups will never have.

In other news Utada's dad just said the In the Flesh tour is ready and coming out soon for like the 50th time

An oldie but a goodie.

Love this PV.

This is right around when I started losing interest in them. Game, Golden Coast, and Splash are some good albums with some standout songs that just bring about waves of nostalgia. Especially their cover of Okuru Kotoba, remonds me of when I first started getting into J-music and only had their YouTube videos to listen to and watch.

Ken Hirai will release the CM song he did last year, Kikyogaoaka, digitally 10/23.

Called this not too long ago. Glad he is releasing something, but I hope for more upbeat or uptempo songs. Preferably something along the Blind.

I was listening to some pretty old podcasts today and the topic of Jack Thompson came up (regarding GTA and also Bully). Since GTA5 just came out, I decided to see if this guy was still around, and....

http://www.gamezone.com/originals/2013/09/18/gta-5-releases-a-wild-jack-thompson-appears-gamers-addiction-has-made-them-retarded

Surprise, surprise. Here he is again. He'd been disbarred since the last GTA game, so I figured he'd just give up on the whole "video games are evil" thing. Apparently not. -_- He's a bit nuts.

People, especially recently in America, have some undying need to blame video games as the main contributor or reason for violence and the string of mass shootings we have had. It has gotten to the point where some are talking about a violent video game registry rather than some type of gun reform and registry. There are some instances where people may want to mimic things that they see in games or tv, shuch as that kid who died in a sandbox mimicking Naruto. This, however, doesn't show a problem in the video game indisutry, but rather with the larger society. I played GTA San Andreas like twice and I never wanted to get a gun and run over a prostitute in real life. Video games are the new scapegoat for gun violence.

The most annoying thing about the video game thing is how parents buy these violent video games for their kids and then blame the games instead of themselves. They buy the game knowing or ignoring the M rating so their kids will go off into the corner and play while leaving them alone, then they don't take responsibility for it.

The gun thing is very annoying also. Don't keep a loaded gun where the kid can get access to it, idiots.

I agree. If you are going to buy these games for your children at least one, pay attention to the rating or two, instill in your children that the game is fictional and shouldn't be replicated in real life. It is just a form of entertainment and should not be taken seriously.

According to the album description one of the new songs on Do As Infinity's best album will be used as the theme song for a new 'Tales of' game

They did one before for Tales of Legendia called "Tao".

Regarding the whole "violence in video games thing", it's the parents job to monitor what their kids play (that's the whole reason why the ESRB exists), so I just shake my head when people don't pay attention and then point fingers at the gaming industry. Games rated M or T are rated that way for a reason. They're not meant for kids.

Yep looking forward to see what kind of song it is. It's going to be for a mobile app game though so it'll probably won't be released in the west.

I always liked these better than Aoi Bench. Finding information on them was so hard because of Naruto and the tv show of the same name (Ninja Warrior in America)

What the.. I guess she has to start somewhere

Only two more months of the year left and it's looking like Ubu by illion is gonna stay my best album of the year

Kavka, Namie, and Ishizaki Huwie are probably somewhere in my top 10. Sadly most of the "new" albums I listened to weren't from this year

I'd say there's still a chance that RADWIMPS will drop an album in December, especially considering they're doing a livestream on the day their single releases next week - the same day info. on their 2014 Tour releases.  That, and they've already confirmed that an album was in production.

That's good to know. I need to check out their new single too

It's good - Gogatsu no Hae is a nice, upbeat track (very graphic and vicious lyrics though), while Last Virgin is a really nice ballad from them.  Nipponpon is the first song by the band's alter ego, "The Miso Soups" in 7 years, and it's a pretty darn fun song that reminds me a little of Manifesto.

I'm listening to the songs right now and Last Virgin sounds nice so far. Reminds me of me me she and kanashi

They've all but officially confirmed on the livestream that their new album will drop on December 11th - I'm just waiting for an actual announcement.

That's good! Now I have something to look forward to this year, but will still wait for the official announcement.

It's going to be the next next next next next next next Utada that performs at the Olympics.

It's funny cause the Japanese Olympic Committee released a poll of who should preform and she was #8 but Idk why they even did a poll of who should perform when it's 7 years away. So pointless

Oh, we have official confirmation now - got it about an hour after I posted that message.  No title yet, but if natalie's reporting on it, I'm pretty darn sure the date is firm.

Yep that seems like some solid confirmation. I need to stay on top of their news information.

In other new's Utada's dad confirmed that they are involved in Kingdom Hearts 3 /queue all the hikari/simple and clean and passion/sanctuary post from "harcore" Utada fans over the tumblr and the rest of the internet

"Hardcore" meaning the ones that started with a Hikki song that wasn't from Kingdom Hearts? I was one of those people, but that attitude is really stupid. I wonder if these are the same people boasting that they listed to K-Pop before Psy got big. =/

"Hardcore" in the sense of people who claim to be fans of an act but only know that one song. Kind of like people who claim to be big Ayu fans yet only know dearest or how much they love Namie but only listen to come. I use these examples because they're probably the most common with Inuyasha introducing a lot of people to j-pop (including myself).

I just know some people get really annoyed with that. I personally only know Utada from Kingdom Hearts( might've been first love) so I'm not like in the field of "oh I knew her before she did that so I'm more of a fan than you" camp cause I find that attitude stupid too. I really don't think there's a 'better way' to get into an act and I like hearing peoples stories of how they first heard whatever act being discussed.

So yeah it probably wasn't all that clear or eloquently stated, but I was just referring to people who claim to be big fans of all her music, but only know those two songs. I'm pretty sure a lot here know someone that has done that with some artist.

More excited that she's releasing anything tbh.

I'm excited too, but it most likely wont be till 2015 :( Especially with 2.5 coming out next year which I'm looking forward to I've wanted to play KH2FM for the longest

Ohh...

I'm skeptical since all her dad said was "Yes." responding to if the were involved in KH3 especially since he said In the Flesh was going to come out like 20 years ago.

It must suck to be catapulted to fame for a song or two and then everyone just stops caring for what you put out. /thelma aoyama, takahashi hitomi

Either that or the developers got upset that he leaked that info and now he has to say it's uncertain. I didn't really care a whole lot about it either way, so this doesn't bother me all that much.

That's a possibility that I thought of too haha. I'm not bothered by it because I didn't care much about it either. I just feel bad for all those people who were freaking out and excited. The Utada Hikaru tag on tumblr is a mess

If she announced the end of her hiatus or something for her 15th anniversary then I'd get excited, but until then.

I went to look at the tags and oh, you weren't kidding. Some people are really upset. I hope they don't take to Twitter and start pestering Hikki and her dad. I mean I can understand the disappointment, but I don't think begging them to come back will help.

It happens all the time in the game industry like with the Sega/Atlus thing, so yeah, I'm kind of not surprised this happened. I did think it was kind of odd when he just announced it, considering what a big deal it would be to have her back for KH3. It seems like something they'd want to announce themselves with maybe a big reveal trailer early next year or something (it's not out till sometime in 2014, right?).

Yeah some people are seriously attached to her and the series. My personal favorite though

"So I guess Utada Hikaru is really gonna do Kingdom Hearts again. After going on an indefinite hiatus because she didn’t want the KH songs to be the only thing anyone remembers about her music career."  how'd they even get to that

i highly highly doubt a 2014 release. I'm going to just copy and paste my previous response to someone else telling them to not expect it for 3+ years:

"what makes me say that is the console KH team is the same team that's currently working on versus (FF15) and have been for the last 5-7 years. This means that very little work has been done for KH3 so far. Square even admitted it's a while off and they revealed it very early just so the fans know that it's still coming.

It's possible that FF15 is far along now and some of the team have broken off to work on KH3 but still the full team isn't working on it yet and won't be until FF15 is finished. And seeing as how 15 doesn't even have a release date yet and probably won't release until late 2014 or in 2015, add a few more years to that for them to develop KH3. And that's my thinking..."

I could be wrong but this is going off info that has been given and what square has said about it's development.

Yeah since the team is already busy with something else it's gonna be a while plus a hd version kh2.5 was announced for next year so there is no way it's coming out in 2014. There's a possibly of 2015 since apparently there's a Kingdom Hearts release each year

Ok, question in light of of someone saying this again: Do y'all think that a lot of acts in Japan don't tour?

A lot of acts tour some on larger scales than others. People think for some reason only those with large sales tour, but you would be surprised at how many live shows go on. Acts even have shows with 500 people or less, I think the idea of touring have been skewed a little bit with some kpop acts.
