At least it sets her apart tbh. Is there any other act in Japan that releases as much as her. Maybe she doesn't release AS much now, but still a lot. I'm sure her overall average # of singles released per year is HIGH.

(actually up-up girls (kari) release triple a-sides every month but they are still an indie group so I don't count them)

Ayu stopped at 50 in 2010.

OMG there's a PV for my favorite song on Toki Asako's new album:

It's the excuse every time K-Pop groups in Japan are brought up in some sort of discussion about success/sales/relevancy. "They're failing because they're not Japan's style." "They wouldn't fit Japan because they're not cute enough."

Though tonight it was in the Ailee thread.

I guess this means Che'nelle is a flop according to that logic because she does that style of music. =/

I guess...

I wish people would pay attention when they're driving. A car nearly hit me today -_-

I kind of like this. What's the name of the album?

I liked Hitomitoi's last album so i'll probably like the new one too. I was waiting till people finish downloading it on JPS to get it. I hate when everybody's stuck on the same percent.

Check your PMs. FTZXR gave it to me and I put it on JPS since he doesn't use it. He wants to share the Hitomitoi joy.

All of them are priceless.

And I'm sorry, but that certain user and some of you others in here are just so slow in your heads.

G-Dragon just held 8 Dome concerts solo and they're gonna do 16 Dome concerts with BIGBANG in the winter. Yet that guy completely refuse to understand that BIGBANG are really popular in Japan, because BIGBANG haven't sold very much on Oricon.

Any person with any capacity at all for critical thinking should be able to figure out for himself that Oricon figures, especially for singles, is a very incomplete way to meassure the popularity of an artist in Japan.

I was talking about for albums actually seeing as how Big Bang hasn't released a Japanese single in a few years. There are acts who sell more albums than them who don't do those tours. They're literally doing a tour that someone like Namie or TVXQ would do and they're nowhere near their level. This is all YG mediaplay as the person who made the thread announcing the dome tour said. Like I've said a million times, certain things are being overlooked. KPop dome concert tickets are often sold at cut rates on ticket resale sites. The seating configurations aren't maxed out. Koreans often come over for the tours. So in the end you end up having a bunch of Koreans who paid reduced prices sitting in domes that aren't at full capacity. And I'm not the only one saying this.

You're so gullible.

The mediaplay part is about how they're the first to do a 6-Dome-tour (which is ridiculous because there is no fucking point whatsoever to hold concerts in Seibu Dome instead of just adding more concerts in Tokyo Dome, which is why everyone else in the world is talking about 5-Dome-tours).

If your Japanese faves could have done such a big dome tour they would have done so long ago.

Some did do it long time ago, like a decade ago. Others can't be bothered to. If you're selling 2 million copies of your album are you really suggesting you can't do a dome tour?

And it is mediaplay to think that they are on a level as such to do such a tour.

Thanks! I like these, so I'll listen to the whole album later. :D

No, that's not it. He's trying to say that K-Pop is more popular than J-Pop because SNSD and 2NE1 got more cheers at a Singapore concert where the only Japanese guests were AI, Thelma Aoyama, Mai Kuraki, and the less popular members of AKB.

Anyway. -_- Have you listen to AAA's Eighth Wonder yet? It's good.

I haven't. Did you see this mess:

- this is the album Mr Children released last year, same week as SNSD. It's sold almost 800,000 copies so far and these sales are "legit", but Mr. Children are absolute legends in Japanese music.

I know that some of you here just insist on thinking that GG2 only selling a bit over 200,000 is somehow a huge flop because you simple refuse to try to understand what the sales of other acts actually look like.

But truth is that over the last 6 months, there has only been one new album released (the one by Sandaime J Soul Brothers) which actually is more popular/appreciated than SNSD's GG2.

Obviously, there has kind of been a lack of big studio album releases in these 6 months though. Mr. Children, B'z, Arashi, Namie Amuro, EXILE, Nishino Kana, Ikimono-gakari, AKB48, Perfume and Superfly = 10 Japanese acts that probably would sell over 200,000 copies "legitly" if they release a new studio album.

I don't pay attention to gossip outlets (be it magazines, TV, or whatever) so this might seem like a dumb question...but should TMZ be taken seriously? I guess they played Namie's Big Boys Cry on their show or whatever today and they were making fun of her and the Japanese language (because of the whole TLC thing).

Gonna be honest...I don't really want to read all that. :( I'll take your word for it.

???

TMZ is gossip website. They employ a lot of paparazzi. The people on that show are idiots.

But no one has mentioned Duty yet?

Second favorite probably.

It only took one second of this guy speaking for me to want to turn this off.

  :._.:

Oh, okay. But I still need to start it soon. There's a lot. @__@ I think most LDH groups were featured, so good luck to them~

What happened when you discovered these for the first time?

Wow, that was messy.

Hoshino Gen is going on hiatus again.

On June 24th, it was announced that singer/actor Hoshino Gen will be going on hiatus again for treatment.

Hoshino went on hiatus last December after receiving surgery for subarachnoid hemorrhage. He returned to work in late-February and had been working energetically.

According to the announcement, after his periodical medical examination last week, it was found that the area he had surgery "was not in perfect condition". While he is currently carrying out normal daily activities, "follow-up and new measures are required". As such, he will be refraining from his activities for the time being to devote himself to treatment for preventive measure.

Hoshino was scheduled to attend a talk event for his starring movie, 'Hakoiri Musuko no Koi' (currently in theaters) on June 24th, but had to cancel his attendance. According to a person in charge of the film, they "received a message [on that day] that he would be absent due to poor health and will rest for some time."

In addition, Hoshino has canceled his concert on June 29th at Billboard Live TOKYO. He has also postponed his concert on July 19th at Nippon Budokan. More details will be revealed through his official website.

Kuu might be trashy, but she isn't trash!

It really depends on which of the many manifestations of Britney we're comparing them to.

I don't think Britney ever had a phase with the artistry or Ayu or Hikki.

locked and moved.

My poor, brave thread.
