Yeah - I think I posted the previews in here a few weeks back.  A lot of the covers are artists I listen to (and they're pretty different from the usual stuff that gets thrown on a cover album), so I'll probably download this when it gets released.

And I'm interested in the Hikki cover on this one since it's one nobody else has done. But of course she also did Ken Hirai, SAS, Mr.Children, Yuming, and Oda Kazumasa. Suprised there's not an EXILE or Chemistry cover like everyone else has done.

I saw Happiness' new MV on Australian TV today, I was really surprised and happy~! They usually just play kpop on that show.

Yeah, I put it in the release thread and yeah, that song needs to die as far as covers go along with Ozaki Yutaka's I Love You. And I'm interested in the Hikki cover on this one since it's one nobody else has done. But of course she also did Ken Hirai, SAS, Mr.Children, Yuming, and Oda Kazumasa. Suprised there's not an EXILE or Chemistry cover like everyone else has done.

I heard the preview for that and it doesn't sound good to me. But I'll give the full song a listen when it's out. I kind of want to hear her cover of Nakajima Miyuki's song, too.

Yeah I was really surprised too! Usually the only jpop you get on the show is like Perfume, PassPo and Scandal. I was so happy today they had AI, Happiness, Perfume and PassPo, much more Japanese than usual. I'm praying that they get permission for more j-artists, apparently most companies just say no so we're stuck with only a few and just truck loads of Kpop.

I find that a lot of them limit themselves to groups. I mean, I kinda understand since Kpop is extremely group-dominated, but the solo artists are the best part of Jpop (my own opinion here tee hee).

That's great! Some companies seem to be letting up on the restrictions a bit when it comes to music videos and other things. I don't think they need to go as far as K-Pop (that would create a bigger piracy problem), but the HD short PVs, English subs on some things, Facebook and Twitters with English messages and video...It's definitely helping. I hope they continue in this direction. \o/

Four teenagers mug man to buy special attack uniforms for meeting AKB48

Japan Today -- Aug 26

 

On Aug 22, four youths between the ages of 15 and 17 were apprehended for robbing and injuring a man in the streets of Tokyo. While in custody, one of the teenagers confessed they had taken the man's money because they "wanted to get some special attack uniforms ["tokkofuku"] and go to an AKB48 handshake meet."

 

According to police, on Aug 11, as a 27-year-old male graduate student was leaving a convenience store, he was approached by the four teens. The boys took his mobile phone and the drink he had bought inside the store. They also demanded that he "get out the money." The man reportedly suffered minor injuries during the confrontation.

According to police, the suspects were hoping to attend an AKB48 handshake event where fans are able to meet the members of the idol group for a very limited time and, well, shake their hands.

Yeah, Kyoka has been really shaky with her live vocals. Chiharu and Reina have more experience, so they've sounded better during each of the lives. Everyone sounded good on Music Fair, though.

 

I'll start listing out the more popular K-Pop groups/acts and see what soloists I can match somewhat closely to them. It's gonna be hard, though, because each Japanese soloist is different. 

 

It wasn't an announcement from SM. It was from that fansite Soshified, so it's hard to tell. Everyone is acting like it's real. Either way, I'm not one bit interested. I just think all the drama over a simple album is nuts. ^^;
