I saw Dentsu being brought up on a Japanese forum. Some of you may know but for those who don't, it's a huge advertisement company that has power over the media. For example (Source):

ã€Dentsu's share percentage】

TBS 59.4%

NTV (Like Zip the morning show that faked the news that Twice had a recognition of 80%) 42.9%

Fuji (Like Mezamashi TV that reported about Twice for ~10 minutes) 50.7%

TV Asahi (like Music Station) 38.6%

Bungei Shunju 27%

Shukan Bunshun 25%

Shukan Shincho 28%

Yomiuri Newspaper 22.5%

Mainichi Newspaper 24.1%

The rest are shared by 3000+ companies so...

In the article it says "Dentsu started getting involved with the media after becoming a strong spokesperson for sponsors" and "Dentsu has a lot of control over mass media industry. Especially TV, and stations outside of Tokyo cannot survive without Dentsu. For that reason broadcast stations have no choice but to listen to Dentsu's 'requests'". I don't know if it's as bad as Burning but it's a pretty dark company. Their name became even more well known last year when a woman committed suicide for being overworked. And also because they were said to be involved in the Tokyo Olympic scandal (which most of the media only reported as "the D Company" being involved)

Dentsu even used stealth marketing on 2chan but they were caught because of the IP address. And in 2012 they tried to make the Korean food "Samgyetang" a thing but like the kpop boom, they took it too far so people started getting suspicious. In an anime, they used samgyetang instead of porridge (original manga) and suddenly all morning/noon shows were talking about samgyetang being "super popular" and suddenly a lot of celebrities started posting about eating samgyetang on their SNS. Sound familiar? lol. I don't know if Dentsu is behind Twice but I wouldn't be surprised.

Edit: What a surprise Burning has Dentsu's support/backup.

Yeah, Dentsu has an entire team dedicated to 2ch and GC. That's why I find it funny when people say netizen comments are irrelevant when the biggest advertising company in Japan is like constantly on there.

In the end, the Japanese industry is so incestual that nothing really surprises me.

I understand them ignoring racist comments but a lot of the comments on gc weren't and were just pointing out that they're not actually popular and it's just gori-oshi but they were saying "These are women's comments so of course they're just jealous". I couldn't help but laugh when they were saying gori-oshi is good because it's recognition. Since when is force-feeding good? They're very optimistic... I am almost certain that the those who will bulk buy their CDs are just kpop fans and not new fans they gained through all this gori-oshi.

All I can think of is Gouriki Ayame.

Everyone keeps saying they're popular, and then I look at the charts and don't see it. They do well with YouTube views and streaming, but KPop is known for that. Where is the actual money being spent, which is what matters more in the industry? Physical is look upon more favorably because it brings in more revenue than digital downloads, but YouTube and streaming bring in even less than digital downloads. The way people go on about them, you would think they're this year's Keyakizaka46. But Keyakizaka46 was a lot more organic. They crossed over to the public unlike many other idol groups. They had longevity. I don't see this with Twice.

Someone needs to pull a TVXQ and BoA (and Kara I guess)

They betta do it right lmao

The new acts aren't willing to risk it because they know it will lead to a Korean decline and in effect an international one since international fans don't normally follow Japanese actitivies.

Nakashima Koh just followed me on twitter. Welp lmao all my fangirling

Cool!

How random, but cool!

Have any of you guys had a friend that was in a relationship that was so draining you almost don't want to be friends with them anymore? I get listening to someone vent is part of being a friend, but like you know your relationship isn't working at all and you don't see a future together, why stay with them and continue to complain when they do the same thing they've been doing the last 2+ years.

I don't know how many times I can listen to my friend say they're done/broken up with this person, just to still be together. Now they're saying they know they don't want to be with them, but are going to wait 7 months to break up with them. Like wth?! /rant

Now that that's over, looking forward to a few releases this upcoming week! lol laugh.png

Yeah, that can be annoying.

LOL maybe he's a secret shipper.

Sorry to hear that. Isn't it so annoying when they ask you for advice, but you know they're not going to listen so there's no point.

Yep, I'm getting to the point where I just stop listening.

By the way, how was Tamaki Roy's album? I've downloaded it, but haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.

It was good, but that was expected.

I saw this thread and decided to do the math for the actual cost of songs in Korea.

For those who don't know, you buy a subscription package on music stores, which give you a month of unlimited streaming and a certain amount of songs, depending what you pay for.

I did this for Melon, which is that app I have. All final figures were rounded to the nearest tenth.

i-Stream free: unlimited streaming for one month + one free song download, which doesn't add to sales totals or affect charting on Melon.

$10.99

i-Stream 30 Plus: unlimited streaming for one month + 30 downloads

$15.39

Subtract $10.99 for cost of streaming = $4.40.

Divide by 30 songs = $0.15 cents per song.

i-Stream 50 Plus: unlimited streaming for one month + 50 downloads

$17.59

Subtract $10.99 for cost of streaming = $6.60.

Divide by 50 songs = $0.13 cents per song.

i-Stream 100 Plus: unlimited streaming for one month + 100 downloads

$29.69

Subtract $10.99 for cost of streaming = $18.70.

Divide by 100 songs = $0.19 cents per song.

I feel robbed. I've been getting the 30 Plus option for the past few months! Definitely getting 50 Plus when I need to renew.

Mess!

lmao the expose. how embarrassing

the gori oshi is real

This is still a mess!

LOL this was my first post on OH! Not the quote but the picture with the explanation. Glad it's spreading (if it is...).

But I have a feeling the fans will ignore this...

When this picture was posted on Japanese forums there were a few people "praising" ZIP since they usually just hire actors but for this they actually took the time to find real fans. The funniest thing is, I think it was a fan of Twice that posted this picture as a spoiler saying "I saw a staff of ZIP looking for fans. Doesn't this mean Twice is going to appear on ZIP?!" she had no idea it was to "prove" that Twice had 80% recognition amongst "randomly chosen women".

Ohh, it's spreading...

will never get tired of this song

The high performance!

There are people actual saying things along the lines of "Here in Japan, digital downloads are virtually non-existent. Everyone here just listens to CDs!"

And for some reason people can't grasp that a single chart and an album chart are different things. Or that a digital chart and a physical chart are different things too.

Wow...

I was here for a moment before I went out last night. Good thing I left because I honestly would've said something that resulted in me getting in trouble.

Anyway, I want to say something I've noticed before I go out tonight. I feel like we live in an age where people like to see everyone as being the same, but that's not reality. It seems as if it's unacceptable to some people now to say that you know more than someone else now. When I say something, I don't want to be challenge by someone who thinks Oricon counts streaming or doesn't know the difference betwee a single and an album. People just need to sit down, shut up, and listen.

Anyway, things should be back to normal with my posts tomorrow.

People want to use this forum without being judged or being bashed. You are discouraging people from using this forum. This forum either belongs to just kpop, jpop, cpop etc fans. It belongs to all of us. A healthy discussion is fine but outright bashing is not allowed

Who is being discouraged?

Expressing a negative sentiment is not bashing. You may as well start issuing warnings for people who say "I don't like this song". If you really wanted to crack down on anything, you should be going after a certain people perpetuating false facts. Or is fake news the core of the forum?

Well KPop thrives off of fake news so...

The song is really contemporary for an idol song

I really like the song quite a bit, if someone like SnC released it everyone would be all over it but bc its an idol song people aren't going to notice it

I think all their other songs that I've heard range from bad to decent, but this one is fantastic

SnC also wouldn't stick this as a B-side.

If SnC sung this would you stan the song?

You've already asked me this...

But it does remind me of what someone said about how Keyakizaka is basically looking at the indie boom and going after that crowd.

Seiyuus are pretty much like idols but marketed to the Otaku fanbase. Besides the age thing, I see very little difference in individual Seiyuus and individual idols and even less difference in seiyuu groups and idol groups. Amina, an idol in Japan spoke about the Seiyuu-idol thing once and said the same thing.

And male seiyuus have basically become the new Johnny's. And look at things like Uta no Prince-sama.

Feels like this can be made a thread at the Random section, but I'll ask J-music fans here first:

Let's say that you have a Line Music subscription where you only have to pay 960 yen for unlimited streaming (if you're a student you'll only pay 480 yen) for one month, are you the type to:

a. Stream as many songs as you can

b. Stream only the songs you like as many times as you like

c. Stream only a song (or a few songs) from only the artists you like

d. Stream the hell out of that one (or a couple) of song(s) so that they will chart

e. Other type (what?)

Remember that it's unlimited streaming. As for me I'd probably take advantage of it (it's only 960 yen per month!) so I'll go with A.

Edit: Oops sorry for double post!

Probably A, but I'd probably not stream at all since they don't have everything. I don't stream now for that reason.

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel were at the table across from me at dinner tonight. They were very romantic. They were holding hands across the table the whole time, with him rubbing her hands. When the table next to them left, he went and sat next to her and they started making out.
