It's shaping up to be one of my favorite releases this year and it's definitely an appetizer before Hitomitoi releases Surfbank Social Club. Hoping that Surfbank Social Club ends up on the blogs on the same day of the releases. Surfbank Social Club is going to be such an experience!

FTZXR from my old forum that posts here sometimes stans her. He buys all her stuff. He pre-ordered it so he said he'll rip it as soon as it comes.

I feel like a need a cocktail or something listening to this this album.

I was reading that Hallyu dying off thread and came across some JPop comments:

Are you talking about how Jpop's sound is stuck somewhere in the late 90s early 00s? Cause I feel that it's both a blessing and a curse. The blessing being that it gives Jpop it's own distinct sound that you could recognize from others whether it be in the different genres or not. You'd know it's Jpop when you hear it and it makes new comers cuirous to hear more and a bit nostalgic.

The curse is that it sounds dated which draws people away from Jpop. Also it leaves the country not open to new things and therefore the sound never progresses if the people don't want it.

But this really isn't a problem for Japan since their music industry can support itself and doesn't have to look for outside sources for income, which is a luxury kpop doesn't have.

J-pop craze in my country has been washed out by Hallyu. so i believe K-pop will be afloat as long as no competent competitor shows up and i've seen none.

J-pop just sits leisurely in his home. Diet plans to spur him via 'Cool Japan' campaign but the success is obscure. Oricon is flooded with crappy xxx48 and johnny's act and the xxx48 producer has been appointed an advisor of the project.

Basically the latter quote is just going to raise the truthfulness of the former.

its been my jam tbh i like it better than shampoo and Flashback.

I liked those too. I know Shampoo is the one I like the most out of those songs but I don't know between Flashback and First Love.

Naoto Inti Raymi will be releasing a concept album later this year apparently.

Not until a long time

They said its down "indefinitely" for now

Passepied's album is really good.

And I wasn't too fond of the idea of JPSTV. Since it was an open site anyone could go on it and if they attacked that then they could end up attacking the torrent site too which was way more valuable. You can find the pvs you want on a Chinese site but some of the stuff on JPS isn't available anywhere.

When you said clone, I thought you just meant similar, but this is literally a Kana song. It could've been on the Believe single and fit right in.

I see what you mean!

I'm not complaining about this song because it's good. The A-side is another story though. I said this in the thread about the song and their numbers man said that they've always aimed for her demographic. True, but they didn't sound like this before.

Congratulations to Ken Hirai on his rumored wedding.

Ok so I finally made that thread for newer acts I talked about a few days ago: http://onehallyu.com/index.php?/topic/8099-newer-japanese-acts/

Has anyone heard of Obaachan? They appear to be a freshly debuted group that is comprised of 47 middle aged women from Osaka. They are going to be giving AKB48 a run for their money. Ha!

Didn't' Akimoto have a group of old men before?

Amuro: Let me step it up this summer by releasing a sick ass electro beat song with TLC jammin' in the background while I show off my awesome choreo

Kumi: It's time to get mah street cred back. Let me just go ghetto while I flash my boobies and get groped by a black guy.

Ayumi: ...maybe I should release You & Me again...

None of them are impressing me to be honest.

So I go on Kuu's tag on Tumblr to reblog the new single's covers and came across these:

At this point - Kumi doesn’t surprise me anymore, musically. There seem to be four kinds of songs that she does and that’s what we get every single/album.

To say that ‘Touch Down’ isn’t at least marginally inspired by current YG artists like GD and CL is ridiculous. The music industry is a large circle.

Artists like Fergie were playing with this hip-hop rap aesthetic way back when, and South Korea has been playing with it for a while as well. The most modern examples being CL and GD who have been as of late bombarding us with do-rags and gold chains. Japan just happens to be catching on at this point. It’s not copying, but it sure as hell is reminiscent to other artists like Miliyah Kato and CL’s videos, because it’s IN right now.

stop comparing koda kumi and cl.

koda kumi is way better than cl will ever be
