Maybe you are using a banned client? Or your ratio is really bad

Maybe, though I don't know enough about torrents yet to really know. I just torrent whatever I can't find on youtube or itunes, like right now I'm trying to download miwa's yozora limited edition version.

I saw this thread and decided to do the math for the actual cost of songs in Korea.

For those who don't know, you buy a subscription package on music stores, which give you a month of unlimited streaming and a certain amount of songs, depending what you pay for.

I did this for Melon, which is that app I have. All final figures were rounded to the nearest tenth.

i-Stream free: unlimited streaming for one month + one free song download, which doesn't add to sales totals or affect charting on Melon.

$10.99

i-Stream 30 Plus: unlimited streaming for one month + 30 downloads

$15.39

Subtract $10.99 for cost of streaming = $4.40.

Divide by 30 songs = $0.15 cents per song.

i-Stream 50 Plus: unlimited streaming for one month + 50 downloads

$17.59

Subtract $10.99 for cost of streaming = $6.60.

Divide by 50 songs = $0.13 cents per song.

i-Stream 100 Plus: unlimited streaming for one month + 100 downloads

$29.69

Subtract $10.99 for cost of streaming = $18.70.

Divide by 100 songs = $0.19 cents per song.

I feel robbed. I've been getting the 30 Plus option for the past few months! Definitely getting 50 Plus when I need to renew.

I should really start streaming. I've never done it before I always just downloaded it. I think part of me wonders how my money would go if I streamed a song a few times vs. downloaded it.

I had a good laugh every time I see kpop fans downplay well known kpop idols/singers just because they never heard of them.

Like who for example? I'm just curious if I know any of them lol

Anyway, I never really took any bragging threads too seriously. I just looked at the raw numbers and was happy (or sad, in come cases) for that. You guys and some kpop fans seem to get way too upset about it. Maybe that's why I never got burned out on kpop in 7 years, I never paid much attention to things outside of my faves activities (except for that 1st year, man I wanted to fight folks then).

Maybe it helps that other than Sistar, Shinee, Kana Nishino, Ayu, and Utada, most of my main biases flop in varying degrees. Or they get one hit and that's it.

Reminds me that I still need to listen to Utada's latest album.

I saw quite a few times ppl are saying Arashi is nugu lol

Oh that. I hear like one or two folks say that about older legends too like BoA or Lee Hyori, and i heard a jpop say this aboit Ayu too, but it's never like it's a lot of people so it doesnt bother me a ton.

From her debut, but stupid me didn't realize she just re-recorded Dear Loney Girl from her debut album. I was like was does this sound so good? Turns out she's recycling.

That may be why I saw that song put on a Nightcore channel recently. Nightcore is the main way I can listen to a bunch of JR&B songs now on youtube. Well they're older ones but still. I listen a lot more on my phone and tablet than my laptop so the more stuff on youtube makes it easier.

It makes me wonder what happened to a bunch of the JR&B singers I used to listen to. Luckily some are still active. Miliyah and Thelma just had a collab this year.

Also made me super happy to see this collab between Tiara, AZU, and Maiko Katagiri from MAY's

Since that cover of Thelma and Soulja's song came out I've been revisiting my favorite tracks from the late 2000s. Man there were so many great songs during that time. Sunao no naretara, Ima Demo Aitai yo, Soba no iru, bye bye, and more. I can't find anything quite like those songs again.

Who covered it?

So many great songs during that period. I took it for granted at the time.

It popped up on my recommendations list and it was such a throwback. A nice one too since I've been going through a ton of old Japanese R&B and urban songs from the mid to late 2000s now because of it. It's also interesting hearing a guy sing it.

Miliyah Kato "Femme Fatale" album is quite good

I know, I was actually a little surprised. I think HATE YOU is my favorite from it still.

The flagship Tower Records store in Shibuya was pretty cool to see, it also has a statue of Hachiko. But if you don't mind used CDs or DVDs/BDs then Shinjuku has a bunch of Book Offs (I got a really cool Ace figure for cheap there) and the quality is always super good.

I think that Tower Records may be the main place I wanna see. I mostly want to just walk the streets and get absorbed in the culture, rather than having a set list of things to do.

Well, other than visit a cat cafe. I'm in Singapore right now and I wanted to but I don't think I'll have enough time for that.

Fantastic!

I'm heading over there at the beginning of October. I'd recommend that you eat a lot of street food if possible and just chill around the city.

There's this Halal ramen place I want to try while there. I'm going with my family so we want to do different things. I think my brother is doing the Mario kart thing.

I gotta be careful with too much good though since my stomach is sensitive. I ate too much yesterday in singapore and man it hurt so much. The food wasn't even that good that I had so it wasn't even worth it lol

The more I listen to this song, the more it sounds like a stardust idol song. The drastic change in sound from the genres to the verses are totally reminiscent of Momoclo or even Dempagumi.inc to some extent.

Like if they had worse vocals I would totally believe this was a Momoiro Clover Z song

I remember seeing the title and expecting something kind of edgy. Needless to say it wasn't quite what I expected.

While I was in the taxi here in Shibuya I heard AAA's DejaVu and I tried hard not to spazz out.

I'm back from Japan!

Was cool. Definitely would like to go back. I didnt get to see Disney Sea so I wanna go that at least. Was cool going around shibuya and seeing the crossing, riding a taxi (drivers can be crazy though), and visiting the stores, going to Yoyogi park, etc.

I got to go to Tower Records too! Didnt buy anything. I only saw one floor to it, not sure if there is music on other floors.

It was neat seeing and hearing singers I know around. Saw and heard tons of Namie and Twice throughout the city, but they have albums and stuff out recently. Same with AAA. Also some Kana Nishino, miwa,BTS(though only their korean songs), Daichi Miura, and AI. It was pretty awesome.

Glad you made it back safely and had a great time! It's always great to see things you've only heard finally in person. What else did you get to do?

I'm next up with my trip to Japan during the first two weeks of October. I wish my trip could've crossed over with one of you guys'.

We were there about 6-7 nights so we did a few things. Found tons of halal places to eat, surprised there were so many. Got to try halal ramen, wagyu beef, chicken katsu curry, galbi, and a bunch of random snacks. Wanted to try okonomiyaki but didn't get the chance.

Tried to see the Metropolitan building since we were staying right by it but it was closed the day we went.

It was cool watching Japanese TV shows while I was there too. Also was neat visiting the giant 8-story shops.

I think what made me happy is how handy my Japanese was. It was enough to get us around in taxis, to shop, and to order food. The best way to learn is always visiting a place where they speak the language you wanna learn. Those 3 years of Japanese in high school paid off lol.
