I kind of like this R&B/pop hybrid that's making it's way into the industry. Of course we're going to get an onslaught of rehashed 90s songs, but I think some good songs are gonna start popping up very soon. Edited by SeeYaWithYou

AV princess of japan Rio aka Tina Yuzuki has released the short PV of her first physical solo single.

This is obviously not a good song by any means, but it is super catchy and hilarious. It's amazingly addicting, and I can't get enough of it.

Her first digital single for anyone whose interested (this one isn't good either, but still catchy)

Is Rola like the most "acceptable" non-white mixed celeb in Japan?

Her popularity stems from her voice and the fact that she is rather pretty.
I respect the fact that she was able to make a name for herself.
iirc she has been the number one talento in terms of exposure for a few years now, and I think she is one of the most followed Japanese celebs on twitter.

There really aren't many. Longevity isn't a big thing in KPop. But this came out recently:

It's a bop.

Omg I fuckng love this song so much. Sad it's plagiarized, but the songnit copied must have been really good because I'm obsessed with Mr. Lee.

I LOVE Park Jiyoon, I rarely see her compared to Lee Hyori tho even tho I feel like they are so similar. Park Jiyoon was doing sexy when Hyori was still doing Finkl, yet Hyori is the one who actually made an influence with her super sexy image. Probably because PJY strayed from pop for awhile. But she showed that she can still pull of classy-sexy so well.

female soloists? :(

But seriously, a lot of older soloists have been coming back recently with amazing songs. It sucks that there aren't that many new ones taking the music scene by storm but we still get some great music.

Some newer Korean soloists that have been successful this year. I don't LOVE any of them, but they are all at least decent.

Ooh this is nice. I've been loving I'm Into You.

Unrelated, but who do you guys talk to from high school still, even maybe once a year.

The only people from high school I talk to are my really really close friends from back then. Like the ones that I was so close with that my parents became close friends with their parents as well. A lot of my friends from high school moved for college and I got left behind and everyone moved on.
It's unrealistic to think you will keep even 10% of your friends in high school after you graduate. It wasn't even a slow drifting apart, people literally just stop staying in touch aside from the occasional Facebook comment.

After School is releasing another Japanese single in January. After School is the only hallyu group that I can trust to constantly release good singles in Japan.

And also I'm curious about Hey Say Jump!'s new single since it's gonna be produced by Taku. I kind of liked their last couple of singles so I wonder if this song will get me interested in a JE group again ever since Kisumai's quality has gone down.

Do you know who's producing Afterschool's single?
Hmmm, Taku? He's really hit-or-miss with me, especially since he's high on the EDM sound.

Their new single "Shh" will be composed by Shinichi Osawa, the same composer behind their previous Japanese single "Heaven".

cr: akp

I'm even more excited now since it's the same producer as Heaven which I loved.

I feel like I have nothing to listen to, all I've been listening to is old Ayu songs as of a late, nothing new is really piquing my interest -_-

Yeah I kind of feel the same.
I have gotten to the point where I pretty much only have been listening to Korean Music, and not even ballads but like idol and pop songs. But tbh I feel like Korean music this year has been miles better than it has been the last few years, def the best year for idols since like 2008-2009. I can name at least 20 idol songs off the top of my head that I genuinely liked this year, haven't been able to do that for so long.

Really? Other than Miss A and After School, I didn't like many K-Pop releases this year. But maybe I'm not listening to the right idols

Some that immediately come to mind of idols I liked a lot this year are 2PM, Girls Day, DaSoNi (fucking love their song, maybe my favorite all year), F-ve Dolls, and BESTie. And that's barely even scratching the surface of idol songs I genuinely liked this year.
I hope 2014 is another good year for Korean music, and I really hope the Korean Ballad Scene picks back up.

I'm considering buying Ayu's all single best album...but idk if I really want it that bad.
I was going to buy Che'nelle's best album too, but idk if I want both at the same time...
decisions, decisions

I realized that I prefer best albums to original albums. Is anyone else like this? I just feel like there is something about any "greatest hits" album that just pulls me in.

It's great. It's probably her best song since BRILLANTE.

I just can't take her voice anymore. I thought I could handle it because it didn't bother me much in Y&M and S4U, but I can't even listen to merry-go-round because her voice bugs me so much.
Idk why even, I mean, I listen to AKB and Perfume so high, nasally voices don't tend to bother me, but Ayu's just ruins my day.
