Looks like OH is prioritising Japanese Entertainment Writers for the OH Press Blog:

https://onehallyu.com/topic/485178-oh-press-recruitment-2017-first-intake/

Maybe some of you guys are interested in applying, I might do so but I fail at Engrish so...

LOL, why now? I tried so much to expand the Japanese coverage here, and I was disregarded for a bunch of KPop fans with no original ideas and who weren't dedicated. Look how everything turned out in the end, for me and for them.

you moved onto way bigger things and you're always so helpful in the J-Section, the fact they didn't see that is entirely their loss tbh

LMAO Dear God, I remember when this came out. My how time has flown by.

So what happened to Arama?

Also what was Mika Nakashima doing on SALU's new album? I thought no one in Japan gave a shit about rappers.....

They have a rising HipHop Scene that is steadily gaining more recognition recently.

this truth tea tho

It used to be more active (this thread)~

I'm just happy it's still alive at least laugh.png

I really wish Arama had a chat though. I love the Arama TC when there's major music shows going on (like MSSL or Kouhaku). So fun talking to other Jpoppers.

I agree dude, I check Arama Daily and there is definitely a more lively Community over there, I think most of the peeps over there don't have patience for OH and Kpopers in general lol, it would be so nice if they implemented a Forum or Chat Room :')

Welp that Japan & Korea media ban thread escalated pretty quickly.

What do you mean by that. They're just comparing whether Korea subjugating Vietnam is worse than Japan subjugating korea or not. Who cares about the original point of whether censorship of Japanese products in Korea is justified or not.

Lol.

Agreed, it's a huge mess, a certain User is problematic af...twitch.gif

wonder if the mess that is the media ban thread will ever stop :o

If it was in the K-Section it would have been deleted by the Mods but this section is clearly off their Radar lol.

I'm still living for that User getting scalped repeatedly though~

Any articles on this? I was repping for the Urban scene after it's death in the mainstream. In my time the only real success story was AK-69.

I know SKY-HI has been dropping shit pretty consistently since his solo debut. And I know KOHH blew up which probably lead to that Utada collab.

Is there anything else? I'm just curious cuz it honestly feels like a dead zone on the HipHop side since so many rappers I used to mess with heavily are MIA.

I wouldn't call it 'Mainstream' I reckon it's still a long time until that happens, but acts like SALU, AKLO & KOHH (as you mentioned) Underground Rappers are steadily gaining more followers and recognition which has inspired a wave of new Debuts in the genre, some of which are very promising, I've been really enjoying Chushokigyo recent work and also Lick G.

Anarchy, C.O.S.A, ISSUGI, Kid Fresino, KANDYTOWN which I'm sure you have heard of? create some really impressive content, but it's personally a bit too 'try hard' for my taste...KandyTown are expected to really make it in 2017. *fingers crossed*

There are also a lot of acts that have a more Jazz & Hiphop influence like Suchmos, MGF, Cero, Cicada etc who are a few of my favorites.

I missed the mess. I need to get into the habit of coming on these forums more but it's difficult because of how dead the main section is + how irritating k-pop fans can be.

I feel you lol I'm gradually getting too sarcastic and snappy these around here these days.

You'd probably dig the Dream Boys team (KEN THE 390, KLOOZ, KOPERU, YURIKA) since that style is lighter and more fun.

I tried looking looking up some J-Hip-Hop articles I might have missed in my time away. Saw one Red Bull put up recently. I got excited then paused....

If this article mentions Wild Style, King Giddra and Nujabes it's fucking trash.

*Reads article*

Into the dumpster you fucking trash drones.

I regret leaving the scene lmao

I listen to Ken the 390 & Klooz sometimes, quite enjoy their content, lately I've also been obsessed with this Song:

I heard it on Spotify and fell in love instantly.

I agree on that, it always feels forced and cliche when they include Nujabes in an article.

Let's see how this goes: https://onehallyu.com/topic/491959-idols-have-different-target-demographics-in-korea-and-japan/

Hah okay, so Kanjani8 fandom got some big news tonight delivered by the group on KanJAM. Their new album (that they didn't release last year but they still managed to sneak into the top 5 overall best-selling artists anyway) will be released on June 28th.

And someone just told me that it's on the same day as TWICE's Japanese debut.

OMG Johnnys can be savage when they want to LOL.

That User is known for posting these kinds of threads for every minor Twice achievement or media play, she's notorious for being a bit delusional lol

They have to be trolling.

She's the same person who made a thread claiming Twice is the 4th best digital GG in Japan, and her source was something like 'KpopQueen' @ twitter.com LOL, if it's trolling it's pretty consistent unsure.png

Tonight ended up going with some coworkers to see Kimi no Na Wa in theaters. I'm not really an anime person at all but FUCK that movie really got to me. After it ended I literally sat in my car crying before I could calm down enough to drive home. Would definitely recommend it to everyone, regardless of whether you like anime or not. One of my favorite movies in years.

I can relate, Kimi No Na Wa is definitely one of the best Movies I have seen in recent years, the hype is well deserved.

Sounds and looks more like a failed attempt at alt. idol by a pop group, to me.

It's definitely inspired, and isn't anywhere near as authentic and solid as J-Alt Idol Releases, but for Kpop, it's better than what I expected.

Yesss omg even as a Once it's so ANNOYING to see that user's threads. Like, Twice don't rule anything in Japan lol their nugus there and TT didn't even trend as much as what he/she made it out to be.

Yep, I don't think she means any harm, she seems nice most of the time but appears to be a bit of a 'super fan'unsure.png

It's definitely inspired.

For a K-pop release, it's exactly what I'd expected - flat. For something trying to compete with an Alt. Idol release, it's sorely lacking. Those are cold observations. What, however. bothers me is seeing the group spammed by K-pop fans on Babymetal's PV pages.

Harsh criticisms, it wasn't that bad, the chorus is catchy but it's definitely not on par with real Alt Idols, but I sympathise with you because I know how irritating Kpop fans can be and wasn't aware they were spamming babymetals videos o.o
