^ i think it's basically EEG's attempt at maximizing the song's exposure, since Joey is not particularly popular outside of Hong Kong while Nic Tse is alot more relevant in cpop, the song most likely wasn't intended to be a duet anyways..

You can imagine the pressure on her from EEG, since she is the cash cow and

GEM being huge now in the cpop world means the big endorsement deals will go to GEM since she can rep all of the chinese regions..

Yeah that makes sense. I was just expecting so much more.

Its disappointing Joey has never really replicated her Hong Kong dominance in the mainland, even though some of her mandarin songs have actually been pretty good.

She came at a time in cantopop when nobody could sing  and  EEG put in alot of money to promote her and gave her the best songs.  IMO, she really doesn't stand a chance in the mandarin market.  Her æ®è‘—翅膀的女孩 was very popular in China 10 years ago, but it didn't translate into popularity for herself...

Of course the support from EEG helps but she can sing and has charisma herself anyway, she'd be a star if she debuted now too.

I like Hotcha's new song. Their ballads are always better than their uptempo attempts.

she didn't have charisma back then...she was a homely girl next door 10,15 years ago, she can sing ok, that's about it...

now she's in her mid 30s...it takes something more drastic to win the audience back.

I just meant her earlier mandarin albums had some good music that wasnt really appreciated. Shes already popular enough across hk and mainland anyway.

^ she's not popular in the mainland at all.   She's only had 2 concerts in Guangzhou and one in Shanghai that didn't sell  throughout her entire career, she's at the bottom of the B-list at best.  If you visit her weibo, there isn't that many replies or likes for her songs..

and yeah, hotcha is splitting up after this

Maybe a better word is famous or successful enough then. If you say her name in mainland, almost everyone will know who she is and she has plenty of sponsorships and advertisements.
