Why is it considered so rude to ask a woman about her age?

In most western countries it seems to be the common standard that you shouldn't ask women about their ages.. But why is this bad? Because you remind them of their age or what?
And in most cases only men aren't allowed to..
If you are insecure about it anyways you can just lie..
Age is just a number.. It can be added or subtracted.. Looks and personality is what counts..
And in some cases its actually good to ask her about her age.. coz you must know if she's legal before you have sex with her

I'm feeling uncomfortable when people ask me about my weight. I mean, you cannot change your birthdate but you can reduce your weight, so I feel judged when I tell ppl my weight and maybe they think "Uhm fat kthxbye"

So no, I don't think it's rude to ask for a woman's age.

Women tend to care from 30+, from my observation. They probably feel old, even though they aren't always, or they are afraid of being judged by their age because of their appearance.

 

I don't know why being insecure is always portrayed as someone's fault, though.

For my I don't see a problem with it, I think it seems to be more towards older women, since they sometimes can be self conscious about their age, because society tends to dictate the behaviour certain women must have according to their age.
