What is up with Koreas erotic fixation with placing over dramatic music in K-drama scenes that don't need them?

Allot of the time I see these scenes in K-Dramas where everyone is just staring at each with like intense opera music playing in the background. It looks fucking stupid and feels so amateurish compared to how western tv uses background music to enhance a powerful scene.

Other times the scene will be dragged out for longer than it should be. I was watching this death scene in Iris where I swear this dude was dying for like 10 minutes and every 3 minutes he would like die...but then start breathing heavy again. I'm like holy fucking shit just die already!!!!

This is why I don't bother K-Drama's -_-

My mothers super into Korean stuff right now. One of her fave actors is Lee Min Ho. And she been listening to allot of OST music on heavy repeat lol

I never thought this would happen and it wasn't even from me or my sister.

Reply 1997 was really really good. I just got so invested in the characters naturally. Unfortunately, I haven't found another drama that quite matched it, and some were just downright laughable, many moments down to uninspiring placement of bgm.

Not a series, but A Frozen Flower had an scene...

... in which there was a dramatic music while the two leading characters (the general and the Queen) were having sex while the King was trying to chase them. In the end, they get caught and they make such a surprised face. The cut ended up being awkward. It was melodramatic in excess and I couldn't take that scene seriously xDDD

For example, Coppola's Dracula used the same procedure but it went good, not narm like in the Korean film.
