lol. This thread is trying to tell you something like spazz or talk about random stuff here some more

 

And you'd think people would know by now that half of the things Sunggyu spews on broadcast is bs (especially "Inspirits"), but nope.

Precisely. And then people rant about how if it was another member that said it blah blah blah. Sunggyu isn't the only one who makes jokes, he isn't the only one with confidence either. If any other members had said what Sunggyu had said I highly doubt most of us here would have had an issue with it. The only reason Sunggyu gets picked out and defended is that people still don't understand after all these years that Sunggyu has a variety personality that he's crafted that demands that he say ridiculous shit sometimes. If he had picked himself as the top 5 visuals everyone would have laughed at him, maybe called him delulu, but left it alone for the most part. He makes the same joke about being in the top 5 singers, and suddenly that makes him arrogant.

 

 

I think this thread is calling out to me 

 

It's ridiculous, really, and we can't say anything because we'll be called "delulu". I think that takes the cake for one of the most annoying words to have come out of the K-Pop fandom. People never stop to think that because we're the fans that we'd actually know more than the average person. If Sunggyu was truly an ass, would he have so many fans as he does? Especially fans who particularly like his personality? That doesn't make any sense.

 

This thread is pretty tranquil in comparison to a lot of other threads. Come here whenever you want to unwind or just bask in Sunggyu-ness lol.

That's the most confusing part. When people question his personality when that's the reason he has gotten so popular.

I'm like, there's a reason people like Sunggyu 

Even the Korean fans admit they like him because he has a tsundere personality. They even call him Devil Gyu.

So I was gonna answer that top 10 favorite Infinite songs thing from yesterday but I had to sleep, so I'm gonna do it now 

In no particular order:

No matter how many times we explain, people just don't want to listen or insist that they're right because they don't want to lose an argument. At least South Korea loves Sunggyu, where his main fan base is. Hater's opinions really don't matter in the overall big picture

 

Seems like Paradise is seriously a fan favorite song.

Paradise is amazing! From the beat, to the instrumentals, to the vocals, to the dance... A++++++

Also, I'm a big fan of falsetto so that also probably influenced my bias towards the song 

 

I used to not like Paradise that much because of the synths, but then I started appreciating the song all of a sudden and it became my favorite title track. The dance is amazing lol. Even though the lyrics are quite obsessive, it's pretty interesting. A paradise where they're both together but not happy.

Now that you bring the lyrics up, I see them as surprisingly deep, albeit still quite dark.

I think what I like about Infinite's songs is that even though they have a recurrent obsessive theme they highlight the complexity of the human mind. Love can be beautiful but it can also be destructive. 

Rather than depicting ideal scenario's like is often done in pop music, Infinite's producers have chosen to show us the fallible qualities of man, that both endears us to him and also make us wary. 

 

I really how their songs can be taken with multiple meanings and how deep the feelings are. The duality of their lyrics, despite obsessive, are well thought out and written. If you take their lyrics at face value, yeah, they're basically shouting "come back!", but if you're willing to read more into it, you can seriously relate it to psychological aspects (paradise, the chaser, etc) or society (btd, kontrol).

It would be really interesting if someone could accurately and realistically bring to life each of the characters in Infinite's songs and then try to diagnose them with some kind of psychological evaluation. 

 

I'm sure it's pretty easy lol. The ones who are the most "crazy" are actually the ones who act the most normal or calm. Like in The Chaser, the guy is saying stuff like "you can leave me, but that doesn't mean I won't give up" and "protect her". There could be multiple reasons as to why he's saying that, but I'm not going to play guessing game because I only took one Social Psych class in college and I'm no expert.

 

And while it's hit or miss, some fanfictions that base the overall tone, feeling, or plot on songs can creatively spin the lyrics into pretty good or interesting stories. I remember reading a woogyu fic once and it reminded me so much of Paradise. How it was eerie, desperate, and insatiable.

Just saw this on tumblr and thought it was really spot on.

 

There was a time when comebacks made me nothing except excited. But it seems like as time goes on there was less and less excitement, and instead more and more worry, frustration, and dissatisfaction.

 

Being a fan starts out simple for everyone. The song was great, the choreography was on point, the concept was captivating, the visuals were stunning. Then gradually, things start to change. Whereas previously you had no expectations, you start developing them in each succeeding comeback.

 

Then all of a sudden, you find that nothing satisfies you. The song is generic. The choreography is unoriginal. The MV is boring. The outfits are ugly. The concept is uninspired. One member has too many lines. Another has too few. Every comeback you have something to complain about. Each comeback is worse than the last.

 

Or if the comebacks are good, then the problem is the management. Why is there this unit/solo, but not that one? I want this member to have drama/variety/MC gigs, get them some. Why can’t they come back sooner? Scratch that, push the comeback date back so they don’t go against this artist. Can we have two comebacks a year and longer promotions? Oh but they shouldn’t promote too long or too often because it will tire them out. Every move the company makes seems wrong.

 

And then there’s the results. You want them to get an all-kill, you want them to sell 200,000 albums, you want a million Youtube views in 3 days and 5 million in a week. You want a triple crown on music shows, a daesang at the year-end awards. You want more hype, more attention, more popularity, more recognition. When it doesn’t happen, you blame it on the management or on the comeback, or both.

 

You’re convinced everything is just not as good as before, but really, it’s your mindset that has changed. You’ve gotten too emotionally invested and started concerning yourself with things that are beyond your control and ultimately unimportant, and it brings the enjoyment of the comebacks down.

 

It’s music, shouldn’t it just be about the songs? Kpop is so obscured by the frills and the numbers–people are more concerned about the concepts and visuals than about the songs, and they care more about the charting than their own enjoyment (in other words, you’re more worried aobut whether other people like it than whether you like it).

 

What happened to the days when I was just happy seeing them releasing new music and performing on stage? How did we lose all that and get tied up in these other things? What else really matters, if they are happy and still releasing music? Why can’t we be happy just knowing that they’re coming back?

 

I’ve decided that this comeback I will do a little soul searching as a fan. I’m looking for the ability to be just plain excited again, I want that simple happiness that got me into Kpop in the first place back.

It was spot on and that's what I been trying to say for so long. I don't mind the discussion about your concerns for the group but the fandom pride that the boys must comeback and slay all other groups is what makes me less excited than I would have been if there weren't as many selfish wants from fans. There's nothing wrong with wanting them to win, do well in sales and have a good line distribution. I have those wants too. I hope all inspirits will enjoy this comeback and be supportive for their music.

 

Enjoy what we are given in the present, you never know when it all can be gone..

I've actually been complaining to my irl friend about how a lot of Inspirits expect too much and that they should just enjoy what is actually there as opposed to what isn't.

Yeah, moderation is the key and it has just been too much greed. I haven't said to anyone that I'm not as excited over this comeback and I have honestly been a bit ashamed over the fact that I'm not as overjoyed over the teasers as the rest of you. I didn't know why until I read that tumblr post. It was all of my feelings in a more organised manner.

 

It was good to read that and feel that I'm not alone.. Just moving to this thread has improved on my mood

 

If that's the case, we should flood this thread with more uplifting things.

All I ever do is just reblog. Well, tumblr is a good way to tag and search for things when I want to find them again later. Lots of nice gifs too. Used to have a multifandom tumblr that was about other random stuff, but I gave up that side of tumblr because the things people were reblogging were beginning to annoy me (sjw and ignorance) and things just got boring in general.

My first comeback was with Last Romeo. I remember being super hyped on my own and holding my breath when watching the mv.

 

Then with back, I dropped off my friend at work in the morning, came home to find out that Woollim uploaded Back a day early.
