[Expose News = Jung Ji Won reporter] Different from INFINITE’s color, Kim Sunggyu’s second solo album, 27’ is released. In the last 11 days since the album was first released, Kim Sunggyu’s title songs, “너여야만 해’ and ‘Kontrol’ and the other tracks as well such as 'Alive’ and 'Daydream’ have comfortably sitting on the top of music charts. The result comes out better than that of his debut album.

 

Q: Its been a long time you come back. How do you feel?

 

SG: I am releasing an album after a while, I feel happy yet nervous. Its an album that I took time preparing, instead of feeling pressured, I feel so much happiness instead. Its the music direction that I want to do, the company too told me, “this album is a collection of good songsâ€

 

Q: This also ranks well on charts..

 

SG: To be honest, when I was doing activities as INFINITE, I didnt think much of ranking high on music charts. Maybe after doing activities as a solo, I would somehow confirm the ranking. Fortunately, there is no one has listened to my songs and said “the song doesnt have any special meaningâ€, I am satisified with just that. Even though I hope it will be much much better than that. Haha

 

Q: Within INFINITE, you’re the only one who has debuted as a soloist

 

SG: Thats true. Woohyun who in the team is in the same position with me is very jealous.

 

Q: If you have any advice for any INFINITE members before going solo?

 

SG: I dont know if the kids will receive my advice but… haha. I wish for you to work hard if you dont wanna regret later?

 

Q: Do you have anything that you regret from this album?

 

SG: To be honest, if I say I dont have regrets at all, that would be a lie. For me personally, there is some things that I feel unfortunate about. But, as I have done my best to record this album, I feel proud. We have recorded doing everything as best as we could.

 

Q: What is the song that the INFINITE members like the most?

 

SG:  After I finished recording, they like “Alive†the best. After listening for a while, they like “Kontrol†the best. When they first heard that NELL’s Kim Jongwan will feature in “Daydreamâ€, they say, its like a dream. INFINITE members, Woohyun and Dongwoo, like '너여야만 해’ the best. Hoya likes Kontrol the best. Other members dont have a particular opinion. Haha. They just say, “hyung, your album is goodâ€, rating it.

 

Q: '너여야만 해’ VS Kontrol?

 

SG: Out of the two songs, I like Kontrol better. This week, I can sing Kontrol, but the next week, I cant sing it anymore. That’s why, now I fall into a dilemma! Initially, we were going to do Kontrol only, but the company pushed '너여야만 해’. Starting from next week , there wont be any Kontrol stages, I feel troubled.

 

Q: You want to sing “Kontrol†but the company suggest something else, what will you do?

 

SG: Then, I will do so. Hehe

 

Q: Lately, there are many idol group members debuting as a soloist. What do you think is the reason?

 

SG: Maybe because we want to show a different color of music then what we do as a team. For me personally, its a musical thirst to show a new kind of music.

 

Q: So what do you think between INFINITE’s music and Kim Sunggyu’s music?

 

SG: My solo album is good to listen to at night, while INFINITE’s album is good to listen while playing at daytime, something a bit like that? I like it that INFINITE’s music and my solo music is contradictory. I think the color itself is quite different.

 

 

Q: On the 12th, you recorded “YHY Sketchbook†together with NELL’s Kim Jongwan.

 

SG: I was really nervous. I sang one of NELL’s songs, but I was trembling like I was doing an audition. Even my voice, when we monitored my performance on stage, the voice from the previous trainee days came out, INFINITE members too were suprised. It really felt like going back to the past. Aheu…. In the past, with Kim Jongwan, when we drank together, and I received a recommended guitar, all this time, I have been making songs with that guitar. Honestly I’m not gonna say anything about this to Kim Jongwan, but I ended up singing my self composed song in front of Kim Jongwan during broadcast. Singing the song in front of the artist that I have liked since I was young, it was quite something. I was really nervous.

 

(Woollim’s official who was there on the scene says) When he was in front of YHY, he spoke very well, but when he was in front of Kim Jongwan, he couldnt say anything.

 

I was really nervous…. what did I say, how did the recording go, I cant remember anything.

 

Q: If there is a target for this album..

 

SG: Album promotional activities to go well, broadcast activities to go well, and the songs will be more and more spread. I’d like it if it receives no.1, but it doesnt really matter, as I feel proud I have worked hard making the music. With that spirit, I am doing all the activities. Also, later, if I am given the opportunity, I would like to do a solo concert. Those are my hopes and goals. Even though I dont know if they can really happen though.

INFINITE‘s Sunggyu will appear on MBC Every1‘s “Weekly Idol†and present the viewers with a bundle of laughter.

Sunggyu, who made a comeback with his solo album “27,†recently participated a recording for “Weekly Idol.†He reveals that he put on lipstick during one of his past interviews to make kiss prints for fans, and that specific lipstick sold out across the country after the interview aired. Sunggyu responds, “Everything I touch sells out. Now I’m too scared to even touch anything.â€

However, the talented singer goes for another ‘sell-out’ legacy and puts on red lipstick to make kiss prints on his album. He wishes for a ‘sell-out’ of his new solo album just as for the lipstick and gives the autographed and kissed album away to a viewer of the show.

This will be Sunggyu’s 11th time appearing on the show, a record appearance for any guest. The show will air on May 20 at 6 p.m. KST.

I actually ordered all three posters for the 27 album (unfolded) but it didn't arrive with my order... So I'm hoping it'll arrive later or tomorrow and it's not an error in shipment. I also bought Second Invasion Evolution Blu-Ray Limited Edition from someone on Tumblr, so I'm waiting on that one, too.

 

Geez. All of my money goes to Infinite, I swear. The only Korean albums I don't own are Infinite H's, Infinite F's, and ToHeart's. Not even going to bother with the Japanese ones, honestly. They cost too much and I don't actually have much money. I just save up.

The DVDs are where my most my money goes too... all my moneys... Oh wait, I forgot that I didn't get Destiny or IDEA. The road to collecting is hard.

 

 

I really like both your photocard and the inside cover, he looks flawless here and that blue jacket suits him well. I got a bubble gum one (not my fav but it reminds me of minigyu so it's okay *sob*) and absolutely beautiful poster, tho now I'm jealous that you'll get all of them. This photoshoot was magical. 

 

 

 

 

Don't worry about your posters, they usually arrive at a different time than albums. Also- OHMYGOD, I want Second Invasion Evolution so bad! You're so lucky!!!     

Haha, Infinite goes all out this year, there's so much stuff to buy, I don't know why all Japanese ones are more expensive but it bothers me a bit.   Someone said that they'll probably release a full Japanese album by the end of this year so maybe you'll be able to get that one. 

 

Ohhh that was the cover I wanted the most.

And yeah, I already have Second Invasion Evolution, but I wanted the blu-ray edition also even if it means buying for $88   

 

If they do decide to release a full Japanese album, I might get it. The only reason why I don't get their previous releases because 1) they were singles and 2) they weren't original songs but now that we have 3 original japanese songs   I will have to reconsider! And there's also GROW to look out for. Making us Inspirits broke.

I love hearing songs from a cd or even better a LP, the sound is so much better than a digital release. 

 

I was about to get 24h but I didn't and I'm glad that I didn't now that I've seen unboxing vids. But I want to get a DVD soon, throws money at Woollim!    

 

I almost bought 24 hours, too. My boyfriend at the time was like "Just do it since you like Infinite so much!" But I decided not to since I wouldn't even be able to play the DVD lol

Yeah, it's even more painful when you have to pay so much for just a single. ._. I forgot about GROW already, that'll cost us quite a bit too. Slowly but surely, I will buy all Infinite stuff!

 

Sure! Too bad the only blu-ray player I have is my ps4, though.

 

I swear, on Infinite alone, I have already spent like $300-400 not including shipping. I never knew I could like a group so much (and I'm not even that much into K-Pop). I'm so sad I didn't get into them sooner. The first song I heard from them was BTD back in 2011 because of Tumblr gifs of the scorpion dance but I didn't care about Korean stuff at all. Luckily, I knew about Infinite because my friend liked them back in 2011 and I bought her the Paradise album for Christmas and imported the songs into my iTunes.

 

Well, better late than never. I really regret not going to OGS when they came to San Jose since I had only recently became a fan at that time and I had classes in the morning. Couldn't afford to drive 3 hours for a concert and then back.

 

What are you guys' first impression of Infinite and when did you start liking them?
