[trans] "Night Watchman" Jung Yunho, Finally taking on a fitting / suitable customized character at last

Although it was a short appearance, his presence was strong. His cold charisma and superb action scenes were sufficient to captivate all attention. Although it was Jung Yunho who had not been able to be liberated amidst the controversy over his acting abilities all those while, it gave off the feel that he had, at last, taken on a character customized for him, immensely elevating the anticipation towards him.

The episode of MBC Monday-Tuesday drama "Journal of Night Watchmen" broadcast on 11 August saw the full-fledged appearance of the adult actors, who had taken over the baton from the child actors. Actors such as Jung Il Woo, Go Sung Hee, Jung Yunho, Seo Yeji and Kim Heung Soo etc who are leading the drama moving foward came to the forefront.

-spoilers omitted-
Jung Il Woo, who had appeared in period dramas several times, was seen to showcase his stable acting abilities as he oscillated between being charismatic and his "black hole" charms, while Go Sung Hee's appearance was refreshing. Kim Heung Soo was seen to have overwhelming presence while he acted out the role of the fanatical young king. The actor who of course attracted the most attention amongst the various actors was Jung Yunho. Due to the controversy about his acting abilities which had arisen from his previous productions, one can also have pre-conceived stereotypes against him, and the curiosity towards how he would embark on his attempt at his first period drama was also huge. It could also be because of the curiosity towards the character of Moo Seok, who was the only character without a child actor.

Moo Seok, the role taken on by Jung Yunho, is both the nephew of authoritative figure in the Royal Courts of Joseon, Park Soo Jong (Lee Jae Yong), and also as a military officer who possesses the best swordsmanship skills in Joseon, he is a character who came to develop a love-rival relationship with Lee Rin over Do Ha as he came to protect the bloodline descendant prince, Lee Rin, at his side. As he does not show his emotions, he possesses the nickname called "icy handsome man".

Although Moo Seok only made a short appearance amidst the story which focused on Lee Rin, he was also unexpectedly the actor who presented the most intense / strongest presence.

-SPOILERS-
Moo Seok had his first encounter with Lee Rin at the gisaeng house. While admiring the gisaeng, Mei Hwa, the dead ghosts attacked the Lee Rin who wanted to embrace Mei Hwa, resulting in the both of them (Lee Rin & Moo Seok) coming face to face. Moo Seok smashed the roof tiles which came flying towards them, and confronted and fought the people who had been possessed by ghosts. While giving off his strong intense presence, he also announced his arrival to the viewers.

Jung Yunho emitted his explosive charisma, and properly / adequately digested the flashy action scenes. His vocalization, which was an issue in his previous productions, did not have anything inadequate about it, and there was also no awkwardness about his period drama intonation. His "period drama visuals (good looks)" was also pleasing on the eyes. His chemistry with the actors working together alongside him such as Jung Il Woo and Seo Yeji etc also attained passing grades.

Of course, given that only 1 episode has passed now and due to his short appearance, it is hasty to pass critique along the lines of "He has overcome the controversy about his acting abilities". However, it was still sufficient to present people with the anticipation to gel with the charismatic warrior character.

Prior to this, Jung Yunho had said this about the controversy over his acting abilities at the production press conference for "Journal of Night Watchmen", "Instead of talking about what kind of hard work I had put in, I think, "Wouldn't it be the answer to show everybody through the production?"" He had showed his hard work in his first appearance in "Journal of Night Watchmen". Has Jung Yunho not become more liberated now from the controversy over his acting abilities which had harshly followed him around?

Even with the story which is more or less a little thin and the directing which is a little disconcerting, the appearance of the youths has evidently infused new life into "Journal of Night Watchmen". "Journal of Night Watchmen" is starting to get interesting.

[trans] Jung Il Woo - Jung Yunho "Fair", Go Sung Hee - Seo Yeji "Murky"... How were their first appearances in "Night Watchmen"?

201408120050531118_1_99_20140812071402.j

-only Yunho-related parts translated. SPOILERS also included-

Jung Yunho exceeded expectations. Even before broadcast started, Jung Yunho, while appearing in his first period drama, originating from being an idol who is a member of male duo TVXQ and also experienced controversy over his acting abilities, was an actor who possessed both anticipation and concern at the same time. However, even with his short appearance on yesterday's episode, Jung Yunho, who has become military officer Moo Seok, used his low and stable vocalization as the foundation to smoothly act out the character with a cold personality. In the scene where he saves Lee Rin who is being attacked by ghosts, he also showed off his impressive action acting.

Was it because he was also pointed out to have the weakness of speaking the dialogue too fast and corrected it, but amongst the adult actors who made their first appearances on the episode, he showed off the most unexpected acting (in a positive sense) and makes one anticipate him even more in the future.
