IOTL's: Short but Intense, New "Acting-dol" is Born!

 

Although D.O. only appeared shortly in IOTL, he is being recognised as an acting-dol for captivating audience's attention with his acts of showing anger and crying.

 

The episode for IOTL broadcasted on the 7th showed a scene where HKW (Do Kyungsoo) and JJY (JIS) went home together. While returning home, HKW witnessed his father assaulting his mother, upon which he, in shock, shouted and ran towards his father. Despite him trying to fight his father, he ended up being beaten up. As HKW picked up the rock while staring angrily at his father, JJY appeared to calm HKW's emotions, saying "Kangwoo wake up, get your mother and run". HKW's eyes were filled with tears of rage but he eventually took JJY's advice and ran away.

 

D.O., despite having few lines, perfectly portrayed the emotions of rage with the look in his eyes and his expressions. Although his appearance was only a mere 10 minutes or so, D.O acted as if HKW had taken over his body, which was a stark contrast to his cuter appearance in the earlier episodes, and raised the expectations that the general public had towards HKW. All these may be the crucial factors to overcome the earlier doubts towards his acting, giving the green light to the emergence of an acting idol.

There seemed to be a lot antis/haters commenting on the articles & downvoting the positive comments, so, many non-fans giving the defense for Kyungsoo.

Truly worried about the acting at first, but seeing D.O. improving with every episode is really great! Anticipating his development in the future!

Honestly, his goofy smiles in the toilet in the first episode was somewhat out of place, but he slowly stabilised with the second episode. Now I feel he's Kangwoo, especially when he left a deep impression at the end of the fourth episode. His cute look befits the identity of an idol, but his acting is really good, and he'll develop well if he continues like this even when the drama has ended. Haven’t keep track with a drama for so long, hopefully such a drama would keep working harder!! And he's 23 this year???

 

I feel this is a bigger twist then the twist at the end of episode 4.

 

Want to say he should continue acting but D.O. sings really well too.

 

What has shoulders got to do with any of you kkkk he has his own unique charm, and he acts particularly good though acting for the very first time.

 

Let all of you watch his acting and his face, and sm would never choose those who are ugly, aren't your disdain targeted at sm, better write righteously.

 

Although it's the first time acting, and there are not many scenes, he indeed left a deep impression in people. You can say the future D.O. would become more popular as actor Do Kyungsoo.

 

If he wasn't an idol, it would have been slated as the discovery of a new actor.

so proud; he's done well and i hope he keeps on improving. tbh i don't want him to get a lead/major role for a couple of years; i just want him to learn (and make mistakes) and develop as an actor whilst doing supporting/minor roles - i hope he works his way up and gains the respect of the industry rather than being plombed into a leading role when he's not ready.

I think D.O. has acted very well thus far, but I still need to see more from him. Some of his fans are already too confident and sure of his acting abilities, which I think is a bit biased. Regardless, his acting in episode 6 was really something. I didn't feel as if I was looking at D.O., but Kangwoo. He needs to make me feel that more often.

I guess it depends on the production. I feel like those dream-high like themes are never getting old for children and if done right, they can be inspirational.. It just shouldn't slip into a typical koreanovela.
