why does America have high rates of ADHD but other countries dont?

America says any kid who doesn't listen to their parents or teachers has ADHD, I pretty sure they don't even take it seriously anymore. And other countries prob have it too but they don't care to give them special education for being easily distracted.

I have ADHD myself

Because people don't know the difference between a lack of self-control and a legitament problem in the head. I have only met 1 or 2 people with legit ADHD and it doesn't always mean those wild crazy can't sit down kids. Most people I know who say (or thier parents said a doctor told them) they had ADHD normally were ones who lacked self control, but not as if they couldn't control themselves, they just didn't.

I would say they just over diagnose it with any slight symptom.

It's probably also a pharmaceutical ploy to sell more ADHD meds.

A some parents are also happy to have a scapegoat for the poor education they give their kids and the bad behavior that can stem from that.

They over-diagnose it just to get the buggers on some Ritalin, take a chunk away from the parent's health insurance, and avoid fixing the actual problem. I mean, any kid that doesn't wanna be cooped up in a stationary classroom doing redundant standardized test prep... to me, just sounds like a normal god damn kid.

Whether its a case of overdiagnosis or a wrong diagnosis, I'm pretty sure the rates are more or less the same in other countries. In every class I've been in there's always those 1-2 students who act in that certain way.

At my internship there was a guy who I think has ADHD, like one of my colleageus there also told me "He probably has it but doesn't know". Don't live in the US, but In HS I had some several classmates who were diagnosed with ADHD.

I think it does exist, but I wouldn't say much since I'm a silent person and even hearing someone talk to me can annoy me (I'm moody)

I'd say this is more true about autism. Everyone has it nowadays, and even the "founder" of autism said he made it up and it doesn't actually exist or something like that.
