Does your school/college encourages you to think?

Does your school/college encourages you to think? Or are you obligated to memorize everything?

Wouldn't it the method of teaching vary from professor to professor/teacher to teacher? I've had teachers in middle school who wrote problems on the board and sat down and left us to either A) Memorize what they wrote or B) Write it down and figure out how to get there once you get home. Overall, all the schools I've gone to encouraged thinking for ourselves, but there were always those bad egg teachers that worked to just get paid.

Yep. I'm an Advertising student. We need to think fast most of the time.

Well most of my teachers encouraged us students to think for ourselves in class.

 

I personally just memorize everything for exams though, because it's guaranteed to get me a good grade.

My school is really shitty. Some professors will not accept an answer phrased in a different way than what is written in the textbook.

Depends on the class, I've aced a lot of courses just memorizing stuff, studying law however needs both more thinking though.

We have to. Marketing student and all. Memorization is minimal.

Memorize, then think. You can't really apply any knowledge without knowing anything unless you want to sound like a dumbass.

No.My country's education system is so rigid that all creative thoughts are suppressed.We have to strictly follow what our Govt wants us to learn.Sort of like North Korea but sugar coated.
