What do you see in the future for Bom?

Its been probably a month or two and people still havent gotten over Bom's Drug scandal,

Whether, you think bommie is druggie or not she still has wonderful talents. Well, 2ne1 in all is completely talent, but from bom scandal people dont see that .

Two years from now, do think people will forget the scandal, and just move on like GD?

If 2ne1 release a single next month or next year do you think people will ignore them like how they did to t-ara?

Actually international fans are just blowing things up out of proportion. If you would look at the translated articles, the upvotes ranges around 300-1000. That's not much to be considered "huge". Besides, we all know why she took it. It's the usual hate parade Bom got that it's getting boring already.

She'll be able to promote if she can muster the strength for it.

I don't think 2ne1 will be as affected as T-ara, and for a number of reasons.

1) This doesn't involve the whole group

2) The Blackjack fandom is older and more solidified than T-ara's was in mid 2012

3) The scandal doesn't seem to hae blown up as much

4) International Blackjacks seem to be mostly supportive

Still a bit too early to say, also there's no way 2ne1 will drop a single in a month or so.  I expect that they'll be on tour for a while, maybe make another stab at Japan, and then if there's not much for them to do, w/e, YG will have their hands full with Winner/TeamB/girlgroup/BigBang/LeeHi? anyway.  So another break in their schedule, nbd.  (Maybe Minzy fans will be so fortunate to get a solo (more quickly) out of this....)

Apparently articles on Bom are being deleted/not uploaded in the first place and comments are also being deleted.  The upvotes-to-comments-to-views ratios are off, so ppl are assuming YG is exerting pressure to control the situation.  But that in itself is an issue.  So I don't think one can infer from the level of comments that it's a non-issue, as one might normally.  OTOH, I don't doubt that the suppression is actually helping.

To be fair, it's not like YG was the only one doing that. Cmiiw, but I rarely see articles about BaekYeon. Not to mention during IU's scandal, Loen was also doing damage control and look at how IU's singles/albums/collabs are doing atm. I never intend to say 2ne1 will be guaranteed to have the same future but if they release something "good" and met the Korean standards, it will be most likely that people will still buy their music regardless of what happened.

Yep. I think Bom will have to sit out 8months to a year from when the talk settles down.  Seems to be the standard "penalty".

Looked like 2ne1 would promote in Japan during. If so, I think it might be better if they toured without Bom during that period, otherwise there will be a lot of talk about this not being a period of "genuine reflection" for Bom on her return.

A few weeks back BJ's were saying its not a big deal the Korean media are not even covering it. Then I saw a big feature on KBS Entertaiment Weekly all about it, including talking how YG is trying to bury it and all the accusations of a cover up with the police as well. This was and still is a big deal with people who follow the Korean gossip news in Korea.

In terms of Bom I like her alot she seems sweet but I doubt we will ever see a solo release from her again now. I can't see YG ever letting her go on a solo variety show like Roommate again either. They will put her more in the background on 2NE1 releases and press. I think the comments on 2NE1 articles will fade about her but unless this is re-investigated which is extremely unlikely every single article about Bom will be filled with hate from now till forever.

Nah, I didn't assume you were, but I just meant YG seems to be doing a little more than the usual damage control, seeing as knetz have been commenting on it.

Bom is only one of four members and her lines aren't all that many for supposedly being the main singer, so even those in SK that appreciate(d?) her voice presumably get something out of 2ne1 music beyond her.  I don't really know if it will matter digitally, and I'm sure physically it won't matter at all, especially when they're not incredibly notable physical sellers on Hanteo anymore anyway.  Their international album-buying fanbase will stick around for sure.

what? it's just cause no one is translating them. recently there's articles about taeyeon's snsd 7th anniversary update with the titles mentioning baekhyun and even follow up articles about the malicious comments. they were mentioned in comedy shows, talk shows, car shows, and all over entertainment news. sm hasn't done any damage control for baekyeon and barely any for sulli. pretty sure that 2014 shows sm doesn't have much power over the entertainment industry as they used to.

ia that it won't effect 2ne1 that much in the future, it will most likely only impact bom's individual popularity and activities.

Hm... honestly I wasn't around for the major scandals that required a period of reflection, but I doubt they'd do that.  That would pretty much be admitting wrongdoing, which isn't the way they're handling this at all.  (Likewise, I think when GD had his marijuana scandal he had a concert in South America or something right away and he kind of had to do it... granted, unless Taeyang was going to step up or something at this point I think Bom is more dispensible to 2ne1's performances than GD is to Big Bang.  But I remembered reading it in an "article" about the length of ppl's "reflection periods", and GD's was really short because of it. XD;;; )

EDIT: oh, what I mean was that for her to enter a reflection period they'd have to admit they were wrong first and had something to reflect about.  If she just goes into hiding, or if for the sake of not admitting things to the fans in particular (and in order to get sympathy) they claim she needs to take a break for the sake of her mental health, I don't know if koreans would consider that a "real" reflection period, either.

Yeah... I think this could have quite a bit of staying power because it's really not only about her, it's about police corruption as well.

Ah, well.  2ne1 seems used to not doing much outside of group music promos and tours, anyway. >.>  And CL didn't have a solo till last year, Minzy hadn't had a solo, Dara just does photoshoots.  And considering Bom barely had solo activities until her last collab with Lee Hi, which was just a half-assed cover anyway... not too much different from what they were used to before, I guess.  Too bad for their aspirations to branch out.

Actually a lot stars use this as a way of "de-escalating" an issue without admitting any wrong doing. Take Kang Ho Dong. He was never even formally accused of tax evasion. He served the "penalty" anyway. Now, although some people are still aware of the issue, there is next to 0 talk about it and bringing it up is considered bad taste.

Another example is T-ara. Though they stopped promotions in Korea, they continued to perform in other countries (can't blame them, they are CCM's breadwinners.. really it's not like they really had  a choice), and because of that many people felt they were callous to a degree.  No one is sure if T-ara actually did any of those things they are accused of.  But they had been judged in the court of public opinion. And because they continued to promote in other countries, they never got the "absolution" from the public.

In neither of those cases were there anything formal. Both may have been completely innocent. Unfortunately public didnt see it that way. Bom is in a similar situation in that sense.

EDIT: Yep. Just saying she needs to take a break from the industry for the sake of health etc. without admitting any wrongdoing would count... strangely enough. It's exactly what Kang Ho Dong did.

Ah, so that actually could fly.  Interesting....

But I don't think YG is going to do it.  And they managed to elide it with GD (it seems?) though not with Daesung.  But in any case, she is currently active in concerts even if she was pulled out of Roommate, and it's been a month already, so I dunno koreans but it feels kind of late to go into seclusion.  And... well, she's not GD, so I dunno if her having prior commitments will really fly.
