auroras 4,218
It's either the BIG2 or JYPE makes up the BIG3. The reasons have already been given multiple times in the past.

Darius 8,485
Ahh, the monthly "Is JYP still part of the Big 3?"-topic. The Big 3 is a term specifically describing SM, YG and JYP, the three agencies that spearheaded Kpop when it spread across Asia at a rapid rate. It's not so much about success as it is about influence. JYPE is still a part of the big 3, but if they fail to catch up to SM and YG, they will eventually fade like DSP did. It won't happen over night though. DSP was at their peak in the late 90s, and despite slacking behind SM, they didn't really fall off until 2007-2008 when JYPE with WG and YGE with BB kickstarted a new era. And if you look solely at success, an argument can be made that JYPE is too far behind to be considered part of the big 3, but so is every other agency. There's no argument that could objectively make a case to replace JYPE in favor of another agency.

ANTI-IKON 1,013
Ahh, the monthly "Is JYP still part of the Big 3?"-topic. I am quite aware of their financial situation. What I posted takes a different approach- considering their digital and physical sales.

lawlaw 11,951
BIG 3 doesn't stand for sales or records or anything like that. Its a term used to describe the 3 leading industries in terms of influence and the spread of popularity and impact. Its a title, Its not like a running chart where people join and leave the "big 3"

Darius 8,485
I am quite aware of their financial situation. What I posted takes a different approach- considering their digital and physical sales. The Big 3 status has very little to do with digital and physical sales. BIG 3 doesn't stand for sales or records or anything like that. Its a term used to describe the 3 leading industries in terms of influence and the spread of popularity and impact. Its a title, Its not like a running chart where people join and leave the "big 3" Basically. Before we even talk about the remote possibility of JYP being replaced in the Big 3, at least another 4-5 years has to pass where JYP continues fading and/or another agency sees a major rise in influence on Kpop. Little Eight 6,542
Why does everything need to be classified as "Big 3" or "Number/Tier 1/2/3/4 girl/boy group" etc. Just let things be.

JYP suffered a net loss of almost 4 million wons last year. During the first quarter of this year, their net income was a total ~1 million wons, figures that pale in comparison to YG and SM.
