Ma ya haha. ^OP I'm in the same boat right now where I don't know what I want to major in and everyone else is basically saying take this, take that. E U Ae Rin 3,784 Posted August 3, 2014 Share Posted August 3, 2014 I don't exactly major in Marketing because we don't have that majors or minors thing in my country, but I study something that the closest thing in english is Business Administration, which in my country has four areas that are Production, Human Resources, Finances and Marketing. As Marketing, we are in charge of identify and analyze business opportunities that may exist in the market. That is done through market research to identify and analyze needs, problems, desires, changes or trends in the consumer perspective. To be more clear (because I don't think I'm explaining myself lol i'm sorry): We design products that we believe that people need to meet their needs. I was also going to major in Graphic Design because I like everything about it, but people also told me that I wouldn't get a stable job with such a major and I agreed with them. So THEN, I thought about Marketing just like you but I heard most employers only take that as a minor. Therefore I am now doing Business because it's a bigger industry and because some aspects of marketing will be in Business. I mean, if you can get a decent amount of projects for hefty amounts of money, then that's great. But if you're just starting out, you won't find work so easily which wasn't ideal for my situation. I'm probably going to minor in Marketing just to have that extra experience. But definitely, in terms of jobs, Marketing is more employable then Graphic Design. Everybody kept on telling me do something that is relatable to graphic design bc graphic design is gonna make u unemployed forever and im like :( r u serious?? then I was thinking about marketing because ur still using photoshop and doing something a bit art related lmao.
