Girl’s Generation’s Japanese best hits album, “The Best†has ranked 1st on Japan’s Oricon Charts for the 10th day in a row.

On the 23rd of July, Girl’s Generation released a best hits album titled “The Best†in Japan, including their hit songs “Geeâ€, “Run Devil Runâ€, “Mister Taxiâ€, “Hootâ€, “Mr.Mr.â€, “Oh!â€, “The Boysâ€, “Time Machineâ€, “Bad Girl†and many more.

Girl’s Generation’s “The Best†sold 37,104 copies on the first day alone, and 2,990 copies on the 2nd of August, thus shooting it up to the number 1 spot on Oricon’s daily album chart.

In the first week of its release, Girl’s Generation’s “The Best†sold 74,921 copies in total, thus ranking 1st in the weekly chart as well, making it their 3rd time ranking 1st on the weekly chart after releasing “Girls’ Generation†in June 2011 and “Love & Peace†in December 2013.

Congratulations to Girl’s Generation on their amazing achievement!

What’s your favorite Girl’s Generation song? Is it on this album?

It's a slow album week in Japan, no big name releases or anything. It's nice and all, but I hope none of the fans take this as a mean for bragging.

Still congrats to the girls, hopefully the album will chart for a long time.

I'm surprised they haven't broke the 100k record yet.

For reference: 1st week sales

2011: Girls' Generation 131,553

2012: Girls & Peace 116,000

2013: Love & Peace 129,000

DON"T SAY THAT ITS PRESTIGIOUS THAT THEY ARE #1

tell that when your jyp favs get no1 for even a week now if it was so easy or atleast in top 10 album sales for such period.

oricon stopped counting international sales long time ago and there is hardy much boost from i fans to even matter much .

You can't compare the FULL ALBUM that have all new song with their BEST COLLECTION album that only include one new song.. Their sales is definitly doing VERY GOOD for only BEST album.

I remember someone saying that Oricon stopped counting albums sold outside Japan so it's normal that the numbers are smaller. If outside sales were counted, it's probably more than 100k sold.

Don't care. It's not like I'm lying or said anything bad about the girls.

BTW does Sones know when the family mart edition is released? I think that will give the sales another slight boost when it's released.

From my understanding, best albums sell better because they have more well known songs. IDK that's how someone in the J forum explained it. But it doesn't matter anyways cause all that's important is their rank and how long they've been there so yeah.

Why are you getting bashed for this, you weren't calling them flops just giving facts. It's true they didn't hit 100k sales but it's also true they haven't hit those #s for reasons given.

idk about that but as a consumer, i wouldn't want to buy an album that has songs that i've already heard/ songs that are made into singles/songs that has been in other albums before.i just see it as a waste of money. seeing how indestructible is the only new song on snsd's the best album, i would rather just download it rather than buying the whole thing for over 20 dollars.

just my perspective on this whole "the best album" releasing old songs with one new song.

the albums that has old songs in them that snsd releases usually don't hit over 100k in the first week. for an example, during the winter of 2011 (i believe because i tend to forget) they released an album of just their hit korean songs and it didn't hit over 100k in the first week. their remix album of their studio japanese songs didn't hit 100k in the first week. their repackage album for their 1st studio japanese album didn't hit 100k in the first week. so it's not surprising that the best album didn't hit 100k in the first week.

idk about others but i wouldn't want to buy an album with old songs in it, i just see it as a waste of money.
