I haven't been very updated with Youngji's career path & what she's been up to in 2016

 

Anyone who could fill me in(just very short), like is she doing solo music, acting or anything else?

 

She has also been on many shows, if you want me to compile and pm you with the subbed ones among other videos ofc.

She has done acting, radio shows, variety shows, had 2 solo fanmeets, was a co-lyricist too and other stuff. Unfortunately, she's under DSP and they won't give her releases like they did with other girls under them.

The contract YoungJi is valid till 2019 (it seems till July).

Change of agency at the current stage of career YoungJi, won't give YoungJi of anything good. The large agencies are hardly interested in it. The small agencies (Motion Media type), for YoungJi will be a step backwards: YoungJi isn't able to afford downshifting now (as made Hara or Gyuri for example).

It seems to me fans in general are prejudiced to DSP. DSP in relation to YoungJi does 120% of work now, pushing it everywhere where it is only possible. Yes, they don't give it still solo project. But it is necessary to face the truth: though the level of a vocal YoungJi is comparable to Seungyeon vocal, both of them are weak vocalists. Also won't be able to jump above the head. What well worked in group, most likely won't work in solo. There are successful solo projects and without existence of strong vocal skills (Hyun-a for example). But in this case the strong effect of popularity worked. YoungJi doesn't have this effect yet. Therefore DSP simply realists in the matter. Especially there is an unsuccessful example with Hara (which had good popularity, but it wasn't enough for a solo performance), which it doesn't make sense to repeat.

This actually usual relation of fans to the agencies: if at the favourite actor everything goes well, then it exclusive his merit; if affairs to actors are bad, then it is of course only a problem of the agency :-)

In my opinion there are a lot of prejudiced feelings towards DSP well deserved. Small things like updating a schedule or the profile pictures of an artist (she still has her cupid era pic, no joke), are no big deal and they can't do so. The official kara jp fanclub is still being used by her and DSP isn't even trying to create an image outside Kara for her. Yes, I love Kara. But Youngji needs to have her own fanclub page and her official updated schedule (just like every other artist from them). Fans are clueless and can't reunite properly. Her schedule is basically announced through news/personal instagram where she has the biggest following. Fans find dificulty in organize rice wreaths/meals/food trucks many times because they don't have a portal where they can comunicate with everyone and get enough funds. DSP made Youngji's fanmeet a Kara concert, adding April to every performance. I love them but this is going overboard. Why not make her perform other cover Japanese songs like Seungyeon did? It were all Kara songs. They destroy every opportunity to level her up. She had the buzz around her after OHYA and many fandoms were ready to help her on her solo debut, DSP choses to release a duo for 2Chae (i love her but she had civa and the other girl has a group). They choose quantity over quality like they did with Kara. Don't even manage the things skit producers ask her to do when she admitted that she was uncomfortable over many Jungmin things. Fans have all the right to be mad, they're just throwing her around when they promised us more and better promos. The girl even managed to sell 2 rows of her fanmeet and yet they add their rookie when these were sold out. 1 song is one thing, but they even performed theirs. Fans have all the damn right to be pissed off at DSP, they are lackluster and it's their fault that Youngji continues to be mocked by kara fans in korea. Youngji has been doing stuff by herself, like learning how to compose from her producer friends. She has been building her connections since January. Associating herself with music much more and she improved tremendously. Why she be thrown around until her contract expires? DSP is known for limitating their artists' evolution. Sechskies, SS501 and Kara as a whole are examples.

Sorry for the rant, has been stuck on me for a while.

My visit "Coffee Terior" last week.  

Actually we with the wife were in this cafe already four times: two times in the previous visit to Korea (in May), and two times last week. The first time we have visited "Coffee Terior" only because of YoungJi. But there was a wish to come back because of local cheese pie, hot chocolate and latte: they the best of all that we tried to find in Seoul in other coffee houses :-)

 

Of course it would be pleasant to see YoungJi alive. But so far we weren't lucky. Though we also not too tried: always came in the afternoon during the lunchtime. And according to mother of YoungJi, YoungJi comes to cafe generally in the evenings (1-2 times a week, aren't more often). But in the evening to us was laziness to go there: "Coffee Terior" is in the area of Yeokchon-Dong, it is the northeast suburb of Seoul. The area is almost not of interest to tourists. Though we have taken a walk there: it was interesting, than there lives usual Seoul.

 

As far as has understood the last time, the cafe are going to do some repair (and inside, and from a facade).

Yes, it really is. But an angel called Hongki liked her synergy so much that he wants to make her a fixed on his KBS radio, sadly she can't because there is a filming going on now. There's also Lee Dongwook who has been teaching her acting and for free, DSP doesn't pay for any of the lessons she's been having that's how far I know. Hara was also the first one to pay for her first set of pilates, now she's able to do so. That's why no matter how much fault people try to put into Youngji, I defend her. I can't imagine how hard it is for her, having a management like this one. But she's also lucky to have friends that will help her no matter what.

For them it doesn't make any sense to invest in conveniences to active fans (these are at most several hundreds of people, it is no more) since fans have no leading role in popularity of Youngji at all now. All this finely was visible during her debut in Kara: two largest fan communities boycotted Youngji. But it in general didn't influence its promotion and popularity in any way. Because Youngji attracted a great number of the new admirers far from Kara. On it there was also DSP calculation. For this reason it was all the same on requirements of fans not to accept in group of the new participant: these fans had no leading role in respect of group earnings. Several hundreds turned away, but several thousands new appeared. Anything personal - only business. 

 

And now DSP is guided first of all by television audience as it is wanted by TV-channels. And this audience will obviously not look for on the Internet the schedule of performances Youngji, etc. 

 

It would be final good form to meet requirements of fans. But most likely DSP still finally didn't decide what exactly to do with Youngji. And how exactly to position it. There is still a suspended situation with Kara, about it we don't know details. 

 

But if in DSP want to finish career of Youngji - they will give it the solo project, upon the demand of fans. This project will surely fail because examples of it a set. Who will be guilty of it? DSP is final, fans will tell then)))

Kara not vocal group, they never selected even average vocalists (behind an exception unless Kim Sunghee). Therefore DSP never also tried to give them full solo projects. It is reality, it can be denied, but it from it won't change. Hara became an exception, but it was not the decision of DSP, but a condition of Hara at extension of the contract in 2013. And it was unsuccessful experience from which learned a necessary lesson too.

The Japanese component is known to me, but there is no direct responsibility of DSP though they also are guided by it first of all. And if the Japanese agency decided that it is necessary to position YoungJi as the acting participant of group there, means they consider it the best decision there. Anything personal - only business.

Actually all this a ridiculous conversation since similar arguments I saw a set of times in branches of other groups and participants. At all always the agency is guilty of everything :-) It causes feeling of a deja vu)) Therefore I don't see sense farther to continue, all the same all of us will agree to differ.

You have your realist view and I have my realistic view as well, just like anyone. Nobody will see situations the same way because realities and life experiences are different. With this whatever was ongoing ends and my point remains the same.
