YG has had a fantastic track leading up the last couple of years, not only adding rookie monsters Lee Hi, Winner, and AkMu to its roster but also furthering the agenda of huge groups like Big Bang and 2ne1. Daesung, Taeyang, Seungri and TOP have all achieved impressive solo careers while 2ne1 are now focusing on their solo activities. Lets not forget CL continues to make international connections, boasting of amazing composing skills, hit songs, and an increasing list of cf deals. YG saw through the global superstardom of PSY. The YG family continues to captivate fans around the world through their tours. Big Bang's Japan dome tours are unprecedented for a Korean artist. The only things missing in the equation are the long-awaited Team B and Jennie Kim's Iljin Chungdam Squad. And of course the hot commodity Epik High was a great addition to the family. Se7en who?

On the other hand, F(x)'s future looks dim. They suffer from Shitty Management. Red Velvet is already getting hated on left and right. Are they meant to flop? Super Junior has had terrible comebacks plus enlisting might eventually destroy the small fanbase they have left. SNSD's success is starting to dwindle. TVXQ live and promote in Japan 24/7.

Will SM to continue to survive through waves of scandals, Dr. Kim's breed of white-looking idols and terrible music? How long can they keep milking their fandoms?

SM's only beacon of hope is Exo. Their popularity continues to skyrocket even through devastating scandals. Kpop kings indeed. What will happen to SM Exo family?

Although SM earned a total revenue of $60 million, they flopped with a net profit of $2.6 million. YG posted total revenue sales of $40 millions and an amazing net profit of $5.2 million

Obsolete JYP earned a net profit of USD$843,000. They only reported a total revenue of $6.8 million.

The total revenue- the total amount a company earns from all of their sales.

Net profit- profits after taxes and operating costs.

hmmm...too early to tell. YG had it going had it not been for park bom's scandal.

SM had many bumps but let's see if they'll recover. i feel like the JYJ-DBSK scandal was much bigger as well as the hangeng one and they were able to survive still. although SM really needs to revamp

I mean it's not like this thread is serious, but I'm gonna give an answer anyway~

It's like people conveniently forget that SM have had 4 MASSIVE tours already this year (TVXQ in Japan, Soshi in Japan, The Lost Planet, and SHINee World III) each of which have broken records (this is where SM and most entertainment companies actually make the majority of their money). Not to mention the SMTOWNs coming up, Super Show coming up, SHINee Japanese tour coming up... I mean COME ON..... no one can touch SM when it comes to touring, they just have more groups that can do bigger international tours. Period.

EXO are now a piece of that, yes, but they can't touch what TVXQ and Soshi are doing in Japan, or the scale of a Super Show, or SHINee World. Where they are important is China. And this will be increasingly true in the years to come. Their shows both on the mainland and in Taiwan and Hong Kong have been hugely successful and the fact that they're able to tour MORE cities in China than the average kpop group will be really significant IMO.

YG have been very successful on the digital charts this year, true. But SM are still slaying everything when it comes to physicals. CF's are a moot point since both companies have shit tons. As are individual activities, and "international connections" (????)

I'd say even scandal wise, both companies are comparable.....

YG is known as drug dealer company today in korea. Why dont you assess that problem first before ? Bigbang soon will enter army ,2ne1 is finished , their next comeback is probably flop. Psy dont really care about yg. He brings his own name outside.lee hi and akdong is just overrated , they are mid tier artist, will never become the top one. Their only hope is winner and we still dont know how good they are

YG just had better timing this year. akmu during the time of the sewol ferry when there wasn't any real competition. yg doing media play against snsd when they had problems with their mv that delayed their comeback.  tbh 2ne1's "crush" isn't that great. at least nothing new I haven't heard from them before.  And coming off of two flop singles and long haitus of course fans will be thirsty for their comeback to buy their music.  I see no reason to include psy as what does the number of youtube views have to do with anything. Did anyone even buy "hangover"?  I haven't seen anything on how well it charted either. Probably peaked at the bottom. Bom's scandal could also just be the beginning of karma. So go ahead and gloat while you can.

Bom's drug and CL's Qu'ran scandals compare to Kris, Baekhyun & Taeyeon, Sulli & Choiza, Tiffany & Nichkun, Yoona & LSG, Hyoyeon's drunk episode, etc?

I posted SM's total revenue which included the tours you mentioned and still, YG managed to earn twice as much as SM. If Im not mistakenly, YG's earnings consists of Big Bang's dome tours in Japan during the beginning of the year and 2ne1's AON tour only.

YG family tour and Daesung's "D's Love" Japanese tour don't count towards the quarter sales I posted.

This is so immature, I can't.

Okay, I'll take the bait.

YG has tour this year. Winner is debuting. 2ne1 music sounds ridiculously great imo (I have their album and I play it daily). Taeyang killed it with his comeback but guess what, SM is nowhere near finish.

Why? here's why,

Super Junior just about to comeback for a second time this year, with Leetuk, the God of Variety. Your argument about SuJu comeback being unsatisfactory is invalid.

Shinee just had their tour. Do you know how much income SM gets with a concert, let alone a tour?

SNSD??? why do I need to explain SNSD? these bad ass bitches get things done left and right. 4 dating news came out and pass like nothing, well, except for Taeyeon but guess what, she bumps right back, her fan cafes are back and supporting her again. TTS will come soon, do I smell another all kill in music shows? Yes I do and it smells delicious.

And what about their Japan Tour, that happened after their World (Asian) Tour? and the perfect 9 wins in music shows after the dating news came out? dwindle what? delusional much?

Exo lost Kris. It's sad and I feel for their fans, but OT11 is having their tour too. Despite some of them getting injured and whatever they're still performing and steal sasaeng and fans heart by doing so. They're young and perfect pretty boys, still 2-3 years from debut, still fresh.

f(x) Red Light is the second best selling album as of now. That's right, more than 2ne1, more than Apink, more than any girl group except their sunbae, SNSD the mighty nine goddesses. But f(x) only got lame ass promotion right? so how can that be? Well I don't know.

TVXQ had their Japan tour too. Still the strongest Kpop boy group in Japan, sold albums more than anything.

Red Velvet? Of course they get hated on, come on. SNSD used to get hated on too, look where they are now. I think they can do great.

And no, Exo is not SM saviour, no one is. SM is still in charge even after numerous scandals. I don't know if other agencies can handle what SM had.

Nah, it doesn't. The revenue from those tours hasn't come in yet (not until Q3) but nice try ;)

And we're talking actual "scandals" of which the only significant ones are Bom's and Kris' - the rest are completely insignificant to the company's bottom line (as are Bom and Kris really, but those actually blipped negatively on the public's radar)
