Learning Spanish was so much fun because I actually understood most of it, I could appreciate the concept of learning cognates to get my foot in the door. French, I was at a complete loss, even though I adored the sound of that language as well. I learned both languages, but if I could, I would learn more Spanish. Pronunciation is quite hard to master too (unless you started learning as a child or something) Languages with a lot of grammatical complexity and stuff like masculine/feminine/neuter nouns are also more work.
