How was college/uni life compared to highschool?

way better because generally no one has time to really be bullies and such. Everyone minds their own business and since you wont have people that are forced to go there by their parents as much, people actually study and such. Friends are hard to make if you aren't social enough, so make yourself get out there if you need. Join clubs, go to events, study at the library or local coffee shop. You'll enjoy it a lot I promise. I'm in second year and it really does fly fast/

more is expected of you in university than in HS when it comes to academics. You are also expected to put much more time in your academic studying than is HS. Social life in university seems more relaxed and chill than in HS. You have a lot of freedom so your 1st year is going to be pretty fun. People tend to be really nice and hardworking and helpful so you will probably make friends quickly.

One piece of advice though is keep up with your grades during your 1st year it's very easy to not do well.

100x better. College is what you make it so have fun and schedule your classes wisely. My weekends my freshman year started on thursdays. I partied, made friends, and loved the dorm life. Depending on the amount of classes you schedule and the times will determine how stressed out you will be. I always got my classes out of the way in the morning but I also had like one class like at 5pm and i usually only had one or two classes a day.

But remember professors in uni are not as forgiving as high school teachers. If you miss an assignment, use the wrong font and spacing on your papers, don't cite your work, etc... You get a big fat 0. They rarely do extra credit so do make sure you study.

Tbh, it was a lot more stressful in terms of trying to figure out what I want to do, and also trying to keep up with everyone else in terms of achievements. High school was relatively easy for me to get by without actually trying very hard, and because of that, was completely inadequate for preparing me for college or anything else. But it's also fun to get to know so many talented people your age with such diversity in culture, upbringing, and opinions. Work hard, play hard was pretty much the motto at my school. Study your ass off, but don't forget to have fun trying new things and getting out of your comfort zone.

Quite frankly, I have to say I miss High School.

It's funny because I used to complain so much about our awful hours, homeworks ... etc. And it's true that homestudying for College is really good because I have my own agenda and I understand and learn better the different subjects by myself but at the same time, I miss my friends so much. All of us departed for different locations. At the beginning, we would text each other every day, make plans and all but then, life got busy with studies and works and so we began to drift apart. It"s funny how I regret the times where I thought that walking to school with them were something normal, so granted. I would give anything just to live one of those days again. I despise my last year of High School so much because we were so focused on getting our graduation than we didn't really enjoy it.

Anyway, for OP, everyone has a different opinion and experience on the difference between HS and College so unlike me, I hope you enjoy it and make tons of friends and activities :D

college : more freedom than highschool.. you don't always have to wake up at morning..

highschool : you stick to one friend or more, because you won't change class like in college

but yeah, now i'm really busy, not like the first time i got in to college..

and i really miss highschool.. somehow i appreciate my highschool friends more than my college friends..

High school was harder than my first year of uni.

The high school I attended was top 10 in the nation and was really focused on preparing the students for college. We had a whole bunch of homework and labs, and all that stuff. Sometimes I'd go to sleep at 2am since I needed to finish assignments. We learnt time management, studying skills, critical thinking. For me, High school was Study >>>. Fun.

When I got to uni, shit was a breeze. I have had more fun in uni than I did in hs. My classes are spread out so I don't need to wake up early for classes and I don't have a long school day. Also there was less drama.

I really didn't meet good people during my high school years so in terms of people uni is waaaay better for me, I met a lof of good friends and also my best friend, so nothing to complain.

But it's really hard and tiring in terms of study, you will need to spend a lot of time sitting and studying.

college is a billion times better oh my godddddddddd where do i even begin

  • everyone minds their own business in college, especially if you go to a commuter school like me
  • if you're like me and like to be by themselves a lot, you'll have so much fun because everyone has different schedules and breaks so you're not necessarily forced into social situations unless you want to be in them
  • professors and classmates are so much nicer
  • this is probably not the case with most people but i definitely have a lot more free time now than i used to have while in hs
  • you meet a lot of people so you'll likely make a lot of different friends
