Welcome to Summer Radio! This is a space where we answer some questions that you may have.

In Barbieland Radio has been intended to be simultaneously used as a space to talk about various matters weekly and music.

Another general check-in thread, but with some notable differences.
Namely, on any week, we might ask you some general questions, and have you suggest questions of your own that you might like for us to answer.

But a Radio isn't designed solely to just a Q&A space: there will also be music (i.e. a listening party) where you can play K-pop songs.

 

 

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

A GM might ask you some questions related to Barbie, or the event in general.
If you have questions, you may suggest them before Saturday at approximately 11 AM EDT.
 

At around 4 PM EDT that same day, you can visit this website (https://wlk.yt/) to play K-pop, and listen to it with others.
This space will be used for approximately 3 hours. During this time you can also use it to potentially interact with others.
You can also use the in-built features of the app to upvote and grab music from other participants.

You may participate in both, or one or the other; you don't have to necessarily do both.
The options are just there for you to consider.

At the end of each week, a thread will be posted with those answers, and a Spotify playlist listing songs played in that room from that session.

 

PRIZES

On any week that you choose to participate you should be rewarded with 1 Platinum Token.

At the end of the event, if you've participated actively, an extra Platinum Token will be thrown in to give to you as a bonus.
This means you can earn up to 5 Platinum Tokens (from participating regularly every week) by completing this activity.

 

All participants will get a free Seasonal Raffle Ticket!

Yes. Didn't like it at first from the heavy advertisement, but eventually found it very funny with all the memes and jokes after I watched it.

I'm not really a fan of movies in general, plus, barbie isn't really a think that catches my attention anymore

I wish I had more time to participate in every event but there's too much going on irl (not mentally, just, too many tasks) so this event is a breath of fresh air

No, I was looking forward to it for months (I even had an outfit picked out in like, May)- but I had a bit of a life emergency when in premiered and haven't had the opportunity to go just yet.

The theme is very cute, probably one of my faves ever! And the events so far all seem really fun; I actively left my station as a perpetual lurker on OH, so that should tell you something.

The thing I consider the most is the activities I have planned for the day, that way I'll be able to choose the best outfit for that moment.

I do, it encourages me to try new fashion trends and new combinations for my outfits:)

I mostly prioritize that's it's comfortable and easy to wear for the activities for that day. I also tend to go for neutral colors so it's easier to match with one another.

Yes, sometimes when I like how someone matches items of clothing, I will take inspiration. Most of the time, though, I just wear a simple T-shirt and jeans.

well... since i have long shifts i do go for comfortable, u know, the scrub uniform? as for colors, I prefer the ones leaning on the dark range lol.

not really, i dont really follow any fashion trend. I usually stick to what I'm used to.

             Comfort is the most important, fashion has never been a consideration. And when it comes to colour, for my western wear I like having pops of colour but otherwise I’m not super adventurous. So for the last couple of years, all of my outerwear and bags have been exclusively black but my shoes will have colour as will my inner wear. Usually pink shoes with a dress or top of a colour that doesn’t clash. My eastern home clothes are mainly floral prints and full of colour.

            Not really no. Most of what others do seems really exhausting and chasing trends seems to be the norm and whether it’s my western or eastern clothes, I have no desire to do that. I do however admire people wearing what they want without the trappings of fashion and trends and it’s a quite strength to see them just be themselves.

In the movie but also informed by the "You can do anything" motto promoted by Mattel, (Stereotypical) Barbie says that Barbie is meant to have a good influence on girls, especially to encourage them to pursue their dreams in whichever path of life or career they choose.

1. Is there someone who you know in your life who inspires you to do your best each day?

2. And from (1), what type of general advice might you want to give to someone who comes to you to ask this same question?

No, but I do get affected by my environment so if people around me are working hard, I will too.

Hm, I think they should probably be inspiring themselves to do their best every day, so self-motivation is key.  I would tell them that effort doesn't always get you the results you want but it gets you closer to it; if you live each day doing your best, then you should have no regrets. Just continue to progress and grow and that will add up eventually.

There's plenty of people I admire, but since this is a asian ent related forum I'll stick with a kpop idol. So it's NCT Jungwoo. I think his charisma and humor is contagious so I do feel my best when I have the opportunity to see his updates. Also, the thing that made me stan him was how he was open about his mental health and how he tries to overcome it, so as someone who has dealt with her fair share of stress I can relate.

Honestly? I would tell them to focus on the journey rather than the destination. Instead of measuring their success by whether they achieved a certain goal, they should ask themselves if they were happy and satisfied with their efforts today.

   Other than myself, the person who inspires me to work hard and do my best is my mom.

   I think the best inspiration to work hard is to think of the benefits that work will have in the future and the satisfaction you'll feel once it's is done.

You have to be your own strength and any improvements you do, you need to do for yourself and not for other people and their validation.

Yeah. They're issues related to my job field.
