Ariel is the Disney princess that is pretty synonymous with her voice, as it plays an importance in the film too. The biggest factor as to why Halle Bailey was hired to be Ariel was because of her vocals. She was performing at the Grammys and her vocals caught the directors attention even before auditions began. It just also worked out that she was able to fit into the image of Ariel as well. Comparisons will definitely be made soooo, there's that. Cause I'm confused at people saying she sounds fine... girl where's the bass? Where's the DRAMA? The little mermaid is literally a musical in cartoon format...
