I think it's because stage names are trademarked by the companies

off topic but what would happen if an idol had debuted with their real name? would they not be able to re-debut with it even if it's their actual name?

I read that they still can use it because that's the real name. I can think of Jessica Jung from SNSD.

Also that's why some idols that leave companies/idols groups, change their names to their birth/legal name.

honestly few idols have been sued for using stage names, not that many are trademarked, and usually it wouldn't hold up because the name is too closely identified with the person... Chuu is an example.

I would guess some like Jini just do it to avoid any potential issues (also her Korean stage name is the same).
