listen i don't know what education is like in South Korea, but would she truly not know about what a Swastika is? esp since the shirt seems to be her personal possession and not the fault of a stylist. i know it's a Sex Pistols shirt but......it's 2023 you can't be like "yeah I'm wearing a Swastika to be a punk"

Also because I’m a punk and regularly listen to this music.

Sid was a terrible person. Most punks do NOT wear that symbol. Yes there are some that do but those are neo-nazi punks. Punks have been trying to kick that group to the group.

Punks hate neo-nazi punks. We feel that is not what punk is about. It’s not about hate. It’s just about being you. Neo-nazi punks are not welcomed to punk shows.

also idols that get into punk need to stop idolizing Sid. He murdered Nancy. Get into bands like Social Distortion. The lead singer fights Nazis!

definitely! i don't think she's really a punk but rather she thought she was being artsy and cool and "punk" by wearing a shirt with old bands on it, like people who buy thrifted band t-shirts to seem intellectual. it's not an excuse but i suspect that's how this happened in which case......she needs to maybe research a movement rather than trying to adopt it via consumerism (and isn't that just the issue with our culture nowadays huh.....)

The shirt is very rare and hard to find so I think she likes the punk aesthetics.

say it pal!

idk who's trying to say the sex pistols are in any way representative of punk in this day and age but simply that is incorrect

people need to stop idolizing them! Plus there’s better punk bands to idolize that don’t try to shock people like that.

I think the fact that both apologies specify 'tilted swastika' means that they're trying to imply she thought it was the buddhist swastika which is not tilted and still displayed in buddhist temples across Asia including SK. It's a big stretch of an explanation bc why would Chae think a british punk shirt had a buddhist symbol on it? I think she just assumed that since it was from a popular band whatever was on it couldn't be that offensive. Basically 'everyone else is doing it/no one around me said anything' mentality which is dumb.

Apparently it's rare on the english internet but easier to find knockoff versions in Asia, fans are guessing she got hers for like $20 bucks on a Japanese punk site that she's bought other clothes from. Not that it makes it better that she wore it but seems like she's less of a die-hard Sid fan than she would be if she bought it for whatever insane price it's at on ebay.

That shirt shouldn’t even be sold
