Chaeyoung posts and deletes pic of her wearing an outfit with a swastika ; releases apology

There's a lot to unpack here.

For starters, she knows what a Nazi swastika is. Don't try telling me she doesn't. If that were actually true, then it would mean the South Korean education system is woefully inadequate, because yes, World War II is extremely relevant WORLD history. It directly affected Korea itself, which was oppressed by a Nazi ally. Do you think she would walk around Korea with an Imperial Japanese symbol on her shirt just to be "punk?" No? Me neither. But apparently the Nazis' victims are fair game.

It may also be worth noting that she was wearing this same exact shirt in an earlier IG post from her time in LA, except it was covered up by a short cardigan. Is that just a coincidence? Or did she know exactly what she was wearing, smartly covered it up, and then still made the mistake of exposing it on a more recent post? I know her fans will be quick to jump to her defense with "she didn't know," but I'm having trouble believing in coincidences with this happening only a few days after the Qanon shirt fiasco. You won't see me contesting that she's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but even if we accept the idea that she's just an innocent ignoramus who will wear anything without knowing what it symbolizes, you'd think she would at least exercise some caution immediately following a similar clothing-related controversy, but no, here we are again less than a week later, and this time it's her own personal wardrobe under scrutiny. Was she even oblivious to what the previous shirt represented, or did she purposely pick it out? Frankly I'm not even sure anymore. Especially with her never addressing it.

The fact that she's not even an actual anarchist "punk" ala the Sex Pistols (complete scumbags, btw), and probably has no idea what they even stood for, only makes this all the more cringe. She's really just a quirky Korean art girl who is using iconography that's out of her depth in an attempt to establish her own edgy persona or "concept" in a very phony, Kpop-esque manner (and one that's completely at odds with her group's image.) This may sound like gatekeeping, but the people who are actually into that kind of stuff for real would eat her alive. And on the off-chance that her beliefs genuinely align with those of someone whom you'd expect to run around wearing swastikas or right-wing extremist merchandise, that's all the worse. Either way, she needs to take several chill pills. It might be in Twice's best interests if she takes a hiatus at this point. Their upcoming tour is too important to have a bunch of bad press attached to it.

PS: That apology? Complete shit. JYP should've made her done better. I mean this is the same company that had Tzuyu film a hostage video for doing nothing wrong, but Chaeyoung fucks up for real and gets to make the most brief, effortless apology ever?
