I'll start from this tweet and translation because majority of international fans believe in Tamara Herman's article who claimed BTS's contracts end in 2026. However no one on Korean side heard of 2026, only 2024. So BTS's contracts are expected to end while members are enlisted, in 2024. It's possible that renewals are being discussed now.

Bang Si-hyuk "BTS 2025 complete comeback? It's not set in stone."

Bang Si-hyuk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hybe, spoke about the future of the group BTS.

Chairman Bang attended a lecture at the Kwanhun Forum held at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the 15th. At the end of the lecture, Chairman Bang spoke about the future activities of BTS, which are currently suspended due to military service.

BTS started with member Jin's enlistment in December last year, and all members are scheduled to join, with J-Hope being first to follow, who applied to cancel the postponement of his enlistment. i'm pretty sure contracts are frozen during enlistment so i don't know if they'll all end in 2024

Where did this theory come from? Is this something new in the industry? I've been curious about it because other idols I follow didn't have their contracts frozen while enlisted. What's more, I remember some contracts ending while they were in the army and companies would tell us whether they renewed or not.

Seeing the way members activities are rolling out and some with a lack of anything, I think it’s clear 2025 won’t see a BTS comeback. 2026 is more likely and for all we know this hiatus might extend even further beyond that. Fans should tamper all expectations, not make up any schedules based on possibilities and just enjoy what comes one at a time.
