MOMOLAND have left MLD Entertainment

Recommended Posts

  • My Everything changed the title to MOMOLAND have left MLD Entertainment

As expected.  Such a shame it ended like this.  For a group to go from a certified plat to their songs not even charting within two years is perhaps one of the biggest bungles in management I've ever seen.  Not to mention kicking two of their biggest talents and one of their best visuals.  Duble sidekick/MLD will go down in infamy for this.  I hope the girls find success in the industry, should they choose to stay in it.  Best of luck to them.

i barely follow Momoland and i guessed this was coming. people seem to think they might not be disbanded but i find it unlikely they'd be able to sign as a full group to a company.

I wonder if they will pursue a future as a group or just end the group for good with solo activities.

Someone told Daisy about it and she does not care

Yeah, I think the Daisy answer is how most of the members feel about each other. I do think some of the members are close like Nancy and Ahin, but if you ever wanted to point to a group that was clearly just "co-workers" and not friends it was Momoland. None of the members seemed to care in the least when Yeonwoo, Daisy and Taeha were jettisoned from the group. Yeonwoo was even still in the MLD company when the members started their IG accounts and they didn't follow her or her them.

Honestly feel bad for the remaining six - there are worse companies than MLD (just look at BBC, GWSN's company, MBK, TS Ent. etc) but none blew such a huge opportunity. There are few if any Kpop girl groups that will ever have a hit as big as Boom Boom (even some Big 4 groups don't have streaming numbers like that song had) and Momoland was within reach of Gfriend territory (a nugu group who makes it to the elite level). They even had not one, not two, but three potential "It" girls in JooE (who was everywhere for awhile and was the Momoland equivalent of Chuu), Yeonwoo, and Nancy (especially in the Philippines in the latter case) and they had not one, not two, but three (again) fluent English speakers who regularly interacted with international fans.

Then they dropped Daisy for a dating scandal that no one cared about (and wouldn't let her leave the group without paying them off), dropped Taeha (their main vocalist!) without any reason, and inexplicably dropped their second most popular member (in Korea), Yeonwoo, so she could "concentrate on acting" (so they said) even though she openly said that was not what she wanted and she wanted to remain the in the group (and then Yeonwoo left anyway and is making money for some other agency). Just over a year after Boom Boom, the group had lost 3 of its 9 members and all three seemed to have been pushed out by the company itself. What?? I have never seen another company drop the ball on such a golden opportunity - and by the end they just abandoned the group they renamed their whole company after!

I understand just being coworkers, but I’m assuming there must be a lot of bad blood between Daisy and the other members if she’s bluntly saying “I don’t give a fuck” about the other members? Because that language is pretty harsh…

I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I honestly don’t like Daisy very much. I feel really bad about what happened to her, but ever since she started her tiktok and online stuff her entire personality has become just hating the idol industry and her fellow members and it just rubs me the wrong way.

I know her company bullied her, but to my knowledge I don’t think the other members did so I don’t think it’s really a good look for her to be hating on them when they didn’t really do anything wrong. It’s giving Coco from Cocosori vibes…. ☠️

I don't think we'll ever know what went down. If Daisy hasn't told by now - and she doesn't mind talking about anything else related to the industry - it will be a Pristin-level mystery. From what little we know, it seems the ones who stayed in the group cut communication with her once she was kicked (unofficially), basically turning their backs on her, and didn't support her in her fight against MLD. The only one she is on speaking terms with is Taeha who (not coincidentally) seems to have also left under unknown circumstances - at the same exact time.

MBK blew a bigger opportunity by sabotaging T-ara. They reached peak momentum shortly after adding a certain someone, which quickly blew up in their faces, whereas Momoland had already become one hit wonders by the time the fiascos actually began.

But I agree that this group never seemed to be on terribly friendly terms, outside of maybe two members. I don't want to use the B word, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of them even antagonized each other behind-the-scenes. I always got Mean Girls vibes from this particular group. Frankly I find it bizarre that anyone thinks there's a possibility of them continuing as a group. Not only do they likely have zero interest in going that route, but even if they didn't, who would sign them? Another small, equally screwy company, if anyone. I don't think they're up for that. This is definitely a disbandment, and unfortunately, I don't see very many of them recovering from it and managing to stay in entertainment.

Glad they're finally free from trash MLD Ent, but it's also sad that it ended like this.
Nevertheless with Boom Boom and BBam they left a mark on Kpop history that even Big 4 ggs wished they could achieve.
Looking forward to good news from them (either together w/ most of the members or as soloists) in the future. 🙏
