omg ffs can i just get a public friendly boy group it's been years

they're so weird. i know they want to be seen as innovators, but y'all can do that every other generation. innovate in what matters. album packaging, music videos. lore, idk.

I actually think the idea of a SuperM draft is hysterical. You just hit randomize on all the male idols at SM and you get either the most godly combinations or the most unhinged. Key and Minho and Ten and Doyoung all end up in one unit and the psychosexual tension is so bad. All the fandoms at each other’s throats. I’m almost sad Jaejoong and Junsu aren’t in SM anymore because Yunjae in SuperM would be so deranged and Junsu would just be clearing all the dozens in NCT. I want everyone’s terrible SuperM lineups to  happen just to see what it would be like.

SM is obsessed with creating a multi-generational bg that will continue on throughout enlistments. NCT will never end.

Also, just say LUCAS SM. Is that the "7th member" they are referring to? I feel like Haechan (potentially Key too cause he can dance) is headed to SuperM 2023. God, i would love for them to add Seulgi.

even if people bend backwards with the criticism it seems that financially the gamble they took with NCT did work out overall. They've been trying to make rotational and exchangeable 'project' groups happen for almost 20 years (remember the debut of Super Junior) and it seems with the added decent success of SuperM and GOT they'll continue to try. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Case in study: NCT DREAM. It was supposed to be the most rotational unit with a graduation system and nowadays it's the most fixed unit and the one fans consider the most autark and self-reliant (DREAM seems to be recognized as an independent group nowadays rather than a NCT unit by fans), so they do know when to change course.

They're experimental and do make strange decisions but they seem to understand when something clearly doesn't work out. Doesn't mean they won't continue to try with something similar in the future.

i don't get why people are so put off by NCT concept. i listen jpop and that is so common to me.
my problem with them is just the music is not my taste (with the exception of some from NCT DREAM and some solos)

the thing is, if SM made NCT have a similar system to how EXILE TRIBE, it would made more sense to me (or at least had the voting system that AKB48 and sister groups have).

for those who are not familiar with EXILE TRIBE (disclaimer: I'm not exactly an expert so there might be things that could be wrong or missing) is basically composed by EXILE, EXILE THE SECOND, J SOUL BROTHERS III, Generations, The Rampage, Fantastics, Ballistik Boyz and Psychic Fever.

The members are all fixed in their groups but once the older ones decide to leave the main and older group (EXILE), they end up recruiting members from the others groups (EXILE already have members from JSBIII and Generations). So technically, to me it seems that EXILE is a rotation group while the rest is not.

They occasionally release music with all the members (i think) from all the groups under EXILE TRIBE (tho is been so long since they did this if am not mistaken).
now they are more interested in promoting the newest/youngest groups so they release projects like x group VS x group or then things under JR. EXILE (that it seems quite similar to EXILE TRIBE but just with the youngest groups)

Spoiler

i wished LDH did the same with E.G Family but they screwed up E-Girls when they reformulated their whole system and stopped releasing new groups under them. Now we only have Happiness (with less of the members that they had before) 🤬

People really overreact to NCT concept, it's not hard to understand.

Maybe because I'm used to the 48G concept? And it's not like they're graduating or anything (for now), they're just literally only adding more generation/units in the mother group NCT.

By the way, it has always been very clear since the day NCT was announced they would be a gigantic group composed of units around the world lol

NCT is so messy to me. They have so many members but it's always the same 2 or 3 as the main and it's just, ugh, why add more?

Unless is considering the potential new units, then, ok.

I wanna vote for the center tbh episode 14 GIF by RuPaul's Drag Race

More money for Mark. Mark bout to be the richest member 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I don't understand why but I'm inclined to believe the NCT format must be very lucrative for SM since they keep insisting and investing so much on it. The members' contracts must be very cheap or something like that so it compensates the lack of digital or variety buzz.

The fact each NCT subunit is selling millions is solid proof for SMoney to keep up with this system. Those who complain don't buy their albums whatsoever so why should they bother?

as long as fans are ready to buy millions of albums, SM won't get rid of this system

Period. People can cry online all day everyday until the cows come home, but NCT and its units have been consistently selling MILLIONS of albums per year, consistently rake in high view numbers & other metrics on YouTube/other social media platforms + NCT127 has been doing well with their concert tour and bringing money there (I don't remember the exact ins and outs of Korean laws, but I believe your income is taxed less if you make money outside of the country, i.e. there's an incentive to hold concerts outside of Korea, which NCT127 has been doing). At the moment, there's no indicator that investing in the NCT brand is "failing", at least in terms of their financial returns. If it's not affecting their bottom line, SM isn't going to change the NCT system, irregardless of individual fans' personal tastes... all the "fans" that are complaining probably aren't even czennies to begin with i.e. a non-factor, and the czennies that are complaining are going to buy the albums regardless. If anything, the "controversial" decisions that SM makes regarding the NCT brand will only increase online engagement and create buzz, and thus bring even more attention to NCT...

I'll believe it when I'll see it.

Regardless of that rumor being true, I hope the Sungtaro unit will have debuted before any new member is added. Because the problem isn't adding new members, it's adding new members, giving them 1 or 2 title song with NCT U and then leaving them unitless for years like they're doing with Sungchan and Shotaro (and did with Kun and Ten in the past).
