as long as fans are ready to buy millions of albums, SM won't get rid of this system

Period. People can cry online all day everyday until the cows come home, but NCT and its units have been consistently selling MILLIONS of albums per year, consistently rake in high view numbers & other metrics on YouTube/other social media platforms + NCT127 has been doing well with their concert tour and bringing money there (I don't remember the exact ins and outs of Korean laws, but I believe your income is taxed less if you make money outside of the country, i.e. there's an incentive to hold concerts outside of Korea, which NCT127 has been doing). At the moment, there's no indicator that investing in the NCT brand is "failing", at least in terms of their financial returns. If it's not affecting their bottom line, SM isn't going to change the NCT system, irregardless of individual fans' personal tastes... all the "fans" that are complaining probably aren't even czennies to begin with i.e. a non-factor, and the czennies that are complaining are going to buy the albums regardless. If anything, the "controversial" decisions that SM makes regarding the NCT brand will only increase online engagement and create buzz, and thus bring even more attention to NCT...

I'll believe it when I'll see it.

Regardless of that rumor being true, I hope the Sungtaro unit will have debuted before any new member is added. Because the problem isn't adding new members, it's adding new members, giving them 1 or 2 title song with NCT U and then leaving them unitless for years like they're doing with Sungchan and Shotaro (and did with Kun and Ten in the past).

I think currently, the main problem with the rumoured "NCT Japan" line consisting of Sungchan, Shotaro, and the 3 new SM Rookies (Shohei, Seunghan, Eunsok) is that they don't have a main vocalist. I mean, I'm sure each of the boys can carry a line here and there in their songs, but they don't have a Taeil/Doyoung/Jaehyun, Chenle/Haechan/Renjun, or Xiaojun/Kun/Ten. I think all 5 of the boys are dancers, especially Shotaro and Shohei, who specialize almost exclusively in dancing (I love Shotaro, but his vocals/rapping in Universe is just... well... you know what I mean). Eunsok wants to be an actor so he's probably going to be branded as a "visual", Sungchan has been sold to us as a rapper so far, and Seunghan is a mystery but based on what we have so far, I don't think SM is planning on showcasing his vocals. At the end of the day, Kpop is still about the music, but we're left with a group that has nobody to really carry the group musically... and if SM is serious about making this a Japanese unit, they'll probably need a Japanese main vocalist to nail the pronounciation in their music. This is all just my own personal theory though...
