K-Pop predictions for 2023

What K-pop related events can you see happening in 2023?

there will definitely be SHINee 2023 comeback once Taemin gets back, i think SM is also planning a SuperM comeback and new NCT units (i think we'll get only one though because SM scheduling is a MESS). also Infinite comeback now that everyone's out of the army please i am begging. EXO comeback before Sehun and Kai enlist.

there's not a lot of 2016 debuts that are still kicking tbh a lot already disbanded or renewed early....i think WJSN might survive but some members leave? Astro will renew and BlackPink also (they comeback once a year anyways). Pentagon i think will survive but Yanan will leave rip. Victon will renew haha i refuse to think otherwise

and a flop boy group will become more popular just like with DKZ this year

BP will probably renew, as you said, but only God knows when they'll come back.

Can't wait for a SHINee CB! They're last title was not my cup of tea but they'll deliver good albums regardless.

we need the Infinite comeback so bad Dongwoo is getting too comfortable on TikTok....like sir don't you have a boy band you're part of

there are so many worthy nugu boy groups!! it's hard to choose :(( personally i think any of the ones that are really struggling (selling very low, don't have a big enough fanbase to tour overseas) because i worry about their futures. a lot of the smaller boy groups are trying to do BLs (Bae173, Just B, Omega X but idk if that will still happen with the lawsuit, OnlyOneOf) but i don't know if Semantic Error's success can be replicated on the same scale. it will be interesting to see.

I can’t explain why but my gut is predicting we will probably get more marriage announcements in 2023. Specifically one from a big/popular idol no one really saw coming.

I’d really like to see a mini AOA reunion (probably minus Mina), even if it’s just a AOA cream subunit reunion or Choa collaborating with someone, but I highly doubt this is going to happen.

I’d also love to see Ten finally get a proper solo debut with a mini album in 2023 and he seems to be interested in releasing one, but to be honest I think the most SM is willing to give us is another solo station song

yessss, they'll be the red velvet of their generation. inconsistent but when they have hits, it'll be bigger than the last, manifesting!!!

lowkey kind of think that starship might do a unit debut from ive pretty early on, similar to how sistar19 had a unit after a year of debuting. maybe they'll use this time to finish a studio album?

oh my girl's comeback will do better than 2022's, but they'll just be in a place they were prior to queendom now (which kind of sucks). 

and sadly, i think brave girls might not renew their contracts. idk, it just feels like brave bros has been doing nothing and their hype has worn off, and i think the girls know that they'll be in better hands if they have a different company handle their solo careers (if they want one).

I only hope they can continue to use their group name, because dealing with trade marks can always get so messy (e.g. T-ARA, GFRIEND).

I think some part of the fandom already checked. While 이달의 소녀 is protected in Korea the international spelling "Loona" is not. So they probably could get away with using that name. I doubt they would want to though. They probably identify more with 이달의 소녀 since thats how they introduce themselves and everything

Although I still think Blockberry will still try to unsuccessfully claim rights to the name and further embarrass themselves.

1. For starters, I don't think Blackpink will disband. I kinda see them renewing and continuing to be a group (albeit with very non-frequent comebacks as usual). But I really don't think they will disband (yet).

2. YGE will debut a new girl group who will hit big (duh). Expectations and hype will be huge. We just have to wait and see if they will manage them any differently than their other groups, but YGE being YGE...

3. Girl groups will continue to dominate in 2023 too.

4. More 2nd generation comebacks/reunions.

5. More groups will lose members. Ok, not to be that person, but looking at the number of groups who lost members in 2022, I think there is a possibility that will continue in 2023. Not that I want that to happen, but anything is possible.
