Article: BTS Jungkook's voice... opened winter world cup for the first time

Source: Everyday Economy via Naver

1. [+636, -13] I automatically smiled while watching. Felt so proud of him. He did amazingly well.

2. [+416, -2] To see the day that a singer from our country opens for the world cup... so proud and touching!!

3. [+255, -3] I assumed that he would be one of many artists performing for the opening but he basically had a solo concert there. I totally felt so proud ㅋㅋㅋ he was amazing

4. [+131, -1] Hul, amazing

5. [+97, -1] Wow, I felt so proud of him

6. [+73, -0] Wow, I figured all the BTS news was just hype but I had no idea it would be this huge.. he was so, so amazing

7. [+61, -4] Felt like watching a stage by Michael Jackson at his peak. Such an amazing stage. The song was great as well.

8. [+47, -0] Truly amazing... I still can't believe that a Korean singer sang the official world cup theme song!! I'm so proud to be Korean!!

9. [+46, -0] I'll be honest, that was damn cool

10. [+40, -1] His popularity would be akin to Michael Jackson in the 90s. Truly amazing, especially to be up there as a solo and not with his group. To perform in front of millions watching around the world...!! I don't know a thing about BTS but today's performance deserves props.

11. [+37, -2] My heart felt so full.. why aren't there more news about this.. why is a kid like this being sent to the army... ㅜㅜ

12. [+30, -0] I already knew that he would be singing the theme song with a performance but seeing it actually happen made my heart choke up... Jun Jungkook, very cool~~

13. [+29, -0] I felt a tsunami of emotions.. so proud of this son of our country. Sending my support to all the Korean sons of our country from Jungkook-nim to Son Heung Min.

14. [+25, -0] The Korean Michael Jackson~~ I'm not an Army but I fell for him... ㅋ

15. [+22, -1] It was a moment where I could feel my heart clench in pride. What a happy night ^^ Jungkook is so cool

This is crazy delusional and so not in touch with reality.

Also for those saying, felt like he had the entire show. Well if a bigger star said no, he had to extend his set.

And this was not news in EU, only  the human right violation came up everytime. Even if you were searching for certain outcomes of a match, you couldn't find that easy.

Now if its hard to get news on that, imagine his show which started on 17.30 and was not shown in any pub/restaurants or even diminished viewing in classrooms. And this is a country known for loving football extremely.

Haters be 💀'ing cuz their faves are nowhere close to being invited. Remember, this is BTS on hiatus outdoing your faves even as a whole. Please keep hating.

At least my faves aren’t showing support to a country with no human rights.

this naver article states that fifa only reached out to hybe about a month ago to set this up. things like this are usually planned at least a year ahead so like, jungkook wasn't even top of their list of choices and everyone else just said no.

i'd almost feel bad for him. almost.

This thread has some of the worst takes I've seen on here. No way people are gonna sit here and act like the ONLY reason people are upset about this is because we're just "JEALOUS BTS ANTIS!!!" please get a life outside of stanning BTS. This issue is bigger than petty fandom drama. (and I say this as a fan of bts)

Also before this, all the bts members as a group were rumoured to perform on this event but I guess all of them backed out because of the controversy surrounding it and jungkook being the bighit puppet that he is with no mind of his own, gave a yes. Called the dumbest bts member for a reason. He keeps on being problematic and making stupid decisions and choices that brings the group down.

Are you not a bts fan? I am confused here and also this isn't a bighit conspiracy thing. Boy saw opportunity and money and took it. Its okay to admit idols are not perfect, no need to say he is the one bring the group down.

Each have done things the last few years that could impact the group.

1) Jin letting his enlistment delay so long.

2) Yoongi using a known very known controversial track for his song and not owning it up.

3)Tae , well not speaking up while Jennie took the brutal part of their relationship shitstorm

4) Jimin and his irresponsibility on his taxes.

All in all, everyone has some negative shit around them. No need to go off like that.

oh i read that they only asked for jk and his stans are painting it as fifa wanted him so bad, didn't know it was only a month ago. It certainly changes the narrative.

as much as i'm dissapointed on jk in this, he's not a guy with no mind of his own. You can be critic with someone without just blatantly hate on them.

Not only has it come out that Fifa only wanted Jungkook, but the other members (except for Jin) showed support to Jungkook's performance meaning that no, they don't give a shit about the controversy either. They're not any better than him, sorry to disappoint.

aye the stans have been very annoying the past week, which is the main reason why i pointed this out tbh.

if there's truth to that rumour, it seems more likely the other members didn't participate because they already had schedules.

Why people are surprised? Didn't BTS perform in Saudi Arabia while being UNICEF ambassadors? I don't know how much freedom they have within the company,  but Hybe is known for being a greedy company lol. Of course Jk has some fault at this, but people should have riot the company not only him, at the end of the day the final decision is still from the company.

What taehyung's relationship with jennie got to do with this? Taehyung went through the same smear campaign with blinks on his ass, he got death threats, his grandma's death was made fun of, countless r*pe, cancer jokes by blinks and getting hate for months when the rumours came out which btw all the pics were leaked from jennie's phone >> according to the resources  which if they are not "edited"??

When have jennie's other partners ever come out to speak for that lazy dozen? And jennie is the same age as taehyung. As a feminist icon aren't male and females equal? Both received hate. Both have the same rights and responsibilities. Pics were leaked from jennie's phone and taehyung got involved unnecessarily so if their dating "rumour" is indeed true shouldn't the apology and defense come from jennie and not Taehyung? Also why is jennie being coddled like a 10 year old kid while taehyung villainized in this when both are strong, successful celebrities with mountain of deranged fans attacking the other party. Why is toddler jennie too afraid to speak up or you have different standards for men and women? You think women are lame, weak and should be treated like kids with no voice of their own. Lumping together the most unproblematic idol among other bts serious scandals lmao. You are a joke.

Also the only time he spoke up for his "non celeb friend" cuz antis and dumb fans were harassing her over an absurd rumour just cuz he went to an art museum with joanna's mom, the kpop fans everywhere dragged him for speaking up. The thread is still up on this site and majority dragged Taehyung and called him immature, manchild for putting the fans in their place when his friend was receiving massive hate, closed down her insta, she already had a fiancee btw and didn't even have a team or anyone to protect her from the hate and useless rumours. I remember how there were think pieces with many likes mentioning how the rumour should be left alone & tae shouldn't have said anything. The hypocrisy lmao. YG and HYBE already gave their statement regarding the rumour btw and called it defamation so stop having unrealistic expectations from Taehyung who received vicious hate from blinks for existing.

And you are so sure about that. How??? You think if this event wasn't this controversial bts would have passed up the opportunity to perform in it? Jungkook was the face, center of that event and the only member who gave it a yes. And the folks thinking Qatar wouldn't want BTS as a group but only jk lmao 😭 kpop fans are so naive and dumb.

i mean, i said that because what's happened in the week jungkook was in qatar? jin's about to enlist, namjoon's in the states, taehyung went to paris, hobi's preparing to perform at MAMA, yoongi is idk producing & being a cat dad and i assume jimin is also recording. all these things were probably arranged before fifa got in touch with hybe. i'm not trying to start a fight with you?

And you don't think the schedule would be cleared up if bts were indeed ready to perform there? BTS took the chance to perform at every major event but said no to the world Cup in Qatar. Do you think after saying no, other members would sit around and do nothing for their career for the whole month of November? Specifically with the limited time they have open for their solo careers before enlistment. Be serious lmao
